looks good to me – but do you think 38t big ring is enough? Its not going to weigh very much

Can’t wait to see the build on this – would sell most of my internal organs to buy on of the monster cross bikes on black mountains blog.

Edit – just realised I said this 2 months ago – still holds true.

Those pics of the hope v-twin do look like is pretty long in length. That looks like a 120mm stem so with an 80mm it does look like the cable routing will be awkward with a stem that short.

Cheers Blazin – ‘waits with baited breath’……..

Cheers Blazing excellent stuff and on my list to buy.

Blazing – Any chance you could do us a favour as i cant see one in the flesh yet? Could you measure how far the reservoir extends in front of the steerer tube. I only run an 80mm stem and im worried the reservoir is quite long once attached to the bracket and will extend in front of the stem making cable routing from the bar tape awkard.

    Cheers again if you can.

No probs – I’ll keep trying. Cheers

Like I say don’t need the bar end bits just the clamps and bolts to chop and file up hence the bits box request. If don’t have any luck I’ll get back to you or drop into the planet x showroom.

Found Bonty 29-0 for a cheap price. A semi slick and 410g sound ideal – Bonty say race only so how strong and will it be puncture after puncture???

Bit pricy really after cheap, light, fast roller for a monster cross experiment.

Surely the amount of seatpost length is irrelevant if your frame has a shim?

If your seatpost shim is say 100mm long, then as long as you have 100mm of seatpost inserted you will get maximum strength. If you have 150mm inserted then the extra 50mm will extend below the shim and not add any extra strength.

Thought the blackbox assembly only fit the last of the line revs and pikes and not the earlier ones? Thought if it was red motion control no luck but if black your okay or something like that?

Really love the idea of this but when I looked it was £1200-1500 for a full set up? Packraft, paddle and safety jacket is that still the case.

Any reason not to use copperslip, or are you just guessing in the dark? As it does exactly that stops things binding together and Ti is pretty much the worst metal out there for binding with itself and other metals.

Also another really good reason is Chris King components themselves and because they last so long the remain in place for years and years. CK Headset of mine has been in a frame over ten years, bottom brackets over 2 years and still like new. Copperslip is ideal for this.

Don’t go crazy – but I greased with a mix of copperslip and normal grease. Did it up tight then just a bit more :0)

I don’t have a torque wrench but have been fitting bottom brackets for 15 years and used to work in the trade so not a numpty when it comes to bike maintenance.

Is it on a Ti frame?

I’ve got a few of them, never any trouble bar the Ti frame. Tried most things to solve the creak and different greases and copperslips, what finally solved it was seriously cranking it up when installing it into the frame. Never been any trouble now for 2 years – just twice yearly pump with the tool

Jaipur is def not the best they do – you need to have a ThornBridge pub round the corner :0) some of there seasonal beers wipe the floor with Jaipur (which is lovely btw)

Hardcore IPA is a firm firm favourite of mine

Teenrat – don’t agree with you one bit. Brewdog IPAs at any strength are the best.

I seem to remember in my youth I drank a beer called “Roger And Out” that was sold by the “Frog & Parrot” in Sheffield.

That was more like 11 or 12% used to come in third of a pint glasses and you got a proper nice certificate if you drank a pint. That was before strong beers were commonplace though.

No typo – watch the video on the brewdog site. Done by super chilling the beer then removing excess water over time.

Are you lot all referring to the 100mm option or the 125mm option that the Op is referring to?

As I’m still waiting for a 27.2 dropper post that has 125mm of travel adjust. 100mm just doesn’t cut it and that’s all you can get all the usual suspects in GD and the like.

Thanks for that. Still a little pricey as I was hoping to bring them in around the £50 mark.

Think i might wait for the sales as Ribble tend to a big blow out sale in the new year with extra discounts.
