This was my experience with it too. That said, its perfect for freshening up an old frame, for next to nothing cost wise, so I can’t complain

Neil – are you taking about appliance paint rather than Spray Bike?

    Appliance paint

Appliance paint like this? Hmm…enamel should be better than powder if left to harden.
    Luckily I only need black

Cool thanks for the help guys, 3 coats of lacquer is fine.

The forks are new so no defects just the wrong colour. Plan to use some 3M fine line tape to make some interesting strips/patterns with the original colour then overspray everything black then peal back the tape and the lacquer.

I will probably wait till the weather is warmer.

Is it like some paint finishes that get harder/stronger over time?

Dropping 32bit support – will that have issues with 3rd party replacement SSDs with Catalina

    Couple of questions.

Is it thru-axle or QR on the fork and frame?

Is the fork 1/8 or tapered steerer?

Is it boost 110/148 or non boost 100/135?

Cheers as none of that is on the website

Cheers but they are £480 on eBay for a 256gb IPhone X from music magpie – hence the quandary

I think I can get used to the siE of the X as it’s not much bigger physically than the 8 (ideally I’d still like the size of my SE but that’s not going to happen)

The main plus point of the X is not the screen size but it’s that it’s OLED rather than the 8 and most probably the SE2 which will be LCD.

It looks like it’s only about £70 to get apple to replace the battery a year or two down the line.

Main thing that’s putting me off is contemplating spending £500 on s secondhand phone!! But that seems to be the way now with the technological advances.

But if the SE gets the guts of the 11 it might also get deep fusion for the camera which would be a big plus point.

Please don’t ride this at the moment.

Not because it’s a footpath but the fact it will be a swamp.

Perfect riding 6-7months of the year but avoid in the winter or after prolonged rainfall

Shame, in cold UK water I think the spaydeck model is the only option but still out of my budget as I’d need 2

Brant – is that the best price you can do on the spray deck boat? Nearly £250 notes more than the open boat

Many thanks for the help so far – keep it coming

Hodge Close, Holme Fell and the Usdale gap path down to Yewtree tarn is a brilliant bit of tech.

Is Holme Fell are push, carry or rideable before the descent?

Gotcha! That looks doable and I’d of thought less than 3 hours? As you’ve done the height gain at the top of tilberthwaite gill, which is rideable ish

Ampthill – cheers I know all the normal bridleways fine in the area including some of the recent trail sanitisation. But it’s an area I’ve only done a little off piste as generally ridden further south or up high to the north.

This is about nice short rides with plenty of tech

Cheers Rich but with a certain amount of faffage thinking more 2hour rides so more steep stuff linking the valley rather than up high.

Ivan – what forks are those on the Pact WeirdCat?

    Rik

    Chakaping –

I’m sure the fork is supple enough with the debonair upgrade not to need coil. But i think it’s not coil I need but it’s the feeling you get from a ccdb (coil or air) which is the free movement of oil in the system which makes everything feel effortless but controlled. The coil mainly helps with the first 10% with zero stiction. But it’s through mid stroke where the fork feels lifeless. It’s not bad, and doesn’t choke up like old original motion control Pikes on multiple hits, but it doesn’t gobble them up either. I think the hardtail makes it more pronounced than on a full sus.

I think it needs more oil moving through the system, hence the analogy with the ccdb rear shocks and old marz Ti rc3 forks.

Thanks Gotama, didn’t expect to carry it around. More put it in shed at the end of the summer (down some steps) or put it in the back of the van and carry once at the beginning of a week away and then back in at the end.

Yep, have a swivel seat in the caddy and rear seats for chilling already, adding a big roll away sun awning to the side. It seems a pretty nice way to just rock up and sleep. Esp. in Scotland

Wasn’t interested when they were £2-3k they were ridiculous but they seem quite a bit cheaper now

Looks it will be mid June till the frame is built up as he’s waiting till he’s finished his final exams

The lad is still at Uni, and I think this is part of his degree working on linkage curves etc. He hasn’t ridden it yet as far as I can tell, and is not looking to sell at the mo.

He’s designed it in CAD then he’s had the balls to pay for it to be built. It’s made by a French frame builder

Always helpful thegeneralist……….maybe because the grill is inside

    Rik

Thanks toby1 – kind of what i thought a gas bbq is essentially just an outdoor oven/grill so if the electric works and gets up to the same temperature. Then the food should taste the same. Add in a smoker box with wood chips for choice of taste.

If it was for camping then the gas version would make sense, but home and cottages electric seems ideal.

Wow cheers Jimdubleyou that sounds perfect and a lot of useage!

Small compact 5kg bottle sounds perfect for home and travel use then

For the Weber Q how long does a gas bottle last typical use.

I can’t decide between the more portable 5kg bottle or the more normal 15kg bottle?

    Thread resurrection

Just wondering if any of you have had your Starling for a decent amount of time.

How’s the bearings going? Just wondering if the single pivot is as fit and forget as an Orange, or does the ‘positive flex’ the bikes are known for has an effect on bearing life

Mick_r – do you build just for yourself/fun or do you sell your frames/forks?
