I have got all the uk in memory map on my phone, but prefer the conveinience of printed maps to be honest. Thanks for the offer of meeting up trekster but there are a few of us going so maybe difficult to get everyones agreement on where exactly we will be going.
cheers for your link too Bob, lots of ideas so far, anymore ?
I did think the snow may have thawed by now- has it?

So I supposed all weather routes are preferable to a snow/slush/bog fest

Unless you want something that you can use without banging your knees on it, fiddling with a wobbly mounting, having it conk out on you thanks to dodgy wiring, or stopping to change batteries every hour..

if you change power settings they last a lot longer than 1 hour- you dont need it on full power except on fast downhills, even then its more than enough , and I dont bang my knees on it cos I mounted it properly 😆 , I have a 10W HID and my P7 pisses on it, for £50 its a no brainer.

sealskins winter technical mtb are the warmest gloves I’ve ever had, I use them for paragliding where your ahands are held up at head level for hours at time without really moving much and they keep my hands toasty. O :mrgreen:n the mountain bike they are too hot for anything much above freezing though

it is lighter cos all you are using is about 70g of sealant, an old valve and a bit of tape and you are removing the old thick rimstrip

    righty

you really dont need rim strips or even ust valves, just cut the valves out of old tubes and use insulating tape as per my link

    super ghetto
less of a faff than it sounds, done 3 sets of wheels so far and loving it. I used stans rims and standard conti MK and Slash. There is a definate feel of more grip and better rolling resistance for a given psi.
do get a compressor tho 2.5 hp with adecent tank 25l then you have plent of spare capacity without the compressor working constantly

they may be expensive but if you dont use them on the road too much, i reckon they should last a good few winters
seriously soem of the looks you get from people expecting you to fall off and the thrill of riding on ice without a second thought is priceless 😆

I ride defensively and never ride near enough to a car door to get knocked of.
The main point of my original post was to try and get people to make some noise and get some media coverage sometheing like the anti drink driving campaigns they were pretty hard hitting and I’m sure they had some measurable affect

The days when cars and bikes could share the roads are long gone. Cyclists NEED cycle lanes jsut to be safe, it’s as simple as that.

you are missing the point, all vehicles have a duty to share the road with other road users, i dont agree with marginalising bikes, sure cycle paths should be available and funding should be there to improve and expand them but those who choose to cycle on the road have the right to be treated with repect by other road users
