you don’t have to live near one. Order one via telephone (I used Lakeside) the they will phone you when it arrives. Then they will talk you through the frig on the web shop that allows you to buy it, basically you put the delivery postcode in a different field and use the shop postcode in the delivery field to fool the system. I’m sure he will hate me for saying this but Ed at Lakeside talked me through it and was excellent. Total cost was £28 inc p&p.

Shak 47- thanks for the link.

Dread meets Punk Rockers Uptown is the Don Letts lp- the music he used to play in the Roxy.

The Soul Jazz 100% etc. series is also nice and a good night out if you get the chance. So many good recommendations, so many different genres, Dr.Ali, Horace Andy, Upsetters, John Holt, Eek a Mouse, the list is endless.

    great thread.

After reviewing this thread I’m going to withdraw my application to Dragons Den where I had hoped for substantial funding to support my idea of an upmarket ‘Fish and Thrice Cooked Chips’ diner with a Language and Literacy School upstairs in a building previously occupied by 3 generations of cornish pasty makers that I picked up for a song at a local auction.

I’d report it to my boss as bullying but unless you can prove it was someone then its unlikely they will take any action (quite rightly) . The absolute last thing to do is physically challenge anyone as hard as it may be to restrain yourself.

and a similar shout out to the weekend warriors who treat family trails like an XC world cup , blasting around on carbon ibis and yetis , rocking the camelbak & full race combo and tutting when they have to wait a few minutes for an opportunity for me and my 7 year old to pull over.

A clothing forum I’m on charge £10 a year to upgrade and you can only post ads when you’ve paid. If you do get ripped off the offender is named and shamed in a very big way- often I’ve seen peoples place of work and address offered to the victim from folks who know how to search for such things (I guess through facebook, twitter , etc.)
Incidentally when I got missold some tyres through PB (not dual ply as advertised) I just looked at a load of previous posts, noticed he was proud of his workplace enough to mention it and after the usual ‘tough shit mate’ type text and email replies mentioned that I’d pop down to the shop he worked the next day to discuss it in person. A full refund came quickly after.

Caegwyn is perfect, secure bike storage, and its not basic in the barn with ensuite, tellies etc. But the best bit is if you pay the owner a pound he will take you to the pub where they do a mean lamb burger and pick you up after a few pints of 1664 to rehydrate.

do you have to race? I don’t race , but do uplifts as many times as I can afford, have ‘push up and session’ days and go to the alps once a year. I still have my xc and road bikes, enjoy them but like the change of pace a days dh brings.

I’ve got the knees and they are very comfortable if not just a little sweaty. But I’m looking for deal on the elbows , thats how much I like them.

How strange that if you buy a £600 set of golf clubs and take a few lessons with the club pro no-one would think it a waste of money yet if you spend the thick end of £4k on a bike people scoff when you have 1 days training with a bike pro? I had the same attitude as ‘flow’ off a few when I spent some cash to spend a few hours with Scott Beaumont but the increase in confidence in my own ability more than justified it to me, and besides if want to spend the money I earn on lessons then so what?

Unless Flow is that good he earns a living riding ( though even the worlds best pay for coaching) then it sounds like sour grapes to me.

Depends what floor its going over. If its lying on boards and joists then option 3 will be fine, and the least messy. Some engineered floors now have the ‘clicklock’ option as well which makes it mess free and very quick to lay. And I’ve got a floating oak floor which is perfect so PB’s supplier is talking tosh. Just take the skirting off and recess the boards under the door architraves rather than try to cut it to size, makes it much neater.

The red is great fun and definitely fine on a hardtail. I didn’t think the push up was that bad in comparison with other dh spots. I wouldn’t fancy doing the other runs on a ht though, balboa is hard work on a big rig.
