I don’t see the point of alcohol free beer.

    Thats probably because you’re too pissed to get it (-;

Much cheapness here for hotels in London[/url]

World Travel Market is on in London mid November which is a huge event taking up all the hotel space so if it falls on your dates expect to pay top dollar.

I like the occasional alcohol free beer. The new ones taste great not like the dodgy Kaliber ones from years ago. Having tried a few, Erdinger is the best IMO. Cobra is good, Bavaria wheat beer excellent. Still some bad ones out there though.

Weird first time you have a couple, you almost feel tipsy because your brain is fooled into thinking its beer…

Good to have after a ride too, very isotonic and no hangover.

Can you literaly just unscrew the standard 50w and put a LED in its place,

    Yes.

    Would I save much cash

Yes if you have a few of them. Probably about £7 per bulb per year saving (based on 4hrs per day 50w bulb not including cost of bulb).

and would they let out enough light?

Probably not. You can increase the number of bulbs to compensate though.

Been to Dubrovnik loads, my Mum was born there. Amazing place, the Old Town is spectacular, loads of history and culture to soak up. Restaurants are good, bars are pretty good. Quite expensive there now, it used to be really cheap, but now much the same as Italy, France those places. Beaches are okay, there’s not that many of them and they are all stones, no sand and overcrowded.

For the teenagers the beaches and watersports will probably keep them busy during the day and there’s enough bars and a few nightclubs for them at night.

Take your biggest sunglasses too, there’s loads of crumpet there to look at (-:

I’ve replaced most of my gu10’s with leds. After trying about 5 or 6 different types I found the exergi ones posted above are the best.

Saves loads of leccy but the light quality isn’t as good as halogen, even the warm white ones are still quite white. Power is still lacking too so where you maybe had 4 halogen spots you’ll need 6 led’s, but they are improving.

I would say they’re great for kitchens, bathrooms etc but the technology needs to move on a bit before its a true replacement.

+1 for First Direct. Been with them about 15 years now and they’re like a breath of fresh air compared to the rest of the bunch.

Not surprised with Morecambe, nice view but scratch beneath the surface and there’s serious social problems.

I demoed one a few months back. Very nice bike, well made, lovely welding and looks nice. Its impressively stiff for the weight too.

The ride is good but I found it a bit uninspiring. I know that sounds a bit vague but I didn’t really have long enough on it to get to the bottom of it. Maybe it was such a neutral handling bike that it did everything well but didn’t blow me away and to pay that much for an ally frame it would need to really rock. If it was cheaper I think I would have got one which probably sums it up.

Great options on them, you can change pretty much everything: angles, cable routing, dropper seat post guides, crud catcher mounts and then there’s custom colours…

I used to love them until I fell off a few times and scared myself silly. Now I wouldn’t go near them.

The fact that private education exists shows that we live in a society where advantage and better opportunities are more available to those with the money to afford it.

Welcome to capitalism, communism has been tried…

Private school is within the reach of fairly average wage earners, some have posted on here about their experience.

Bright and talented kids from poorer backgrounds very often don’t enjoy the standard of education their intellect deserves

I’m sure some slip through the net but private schools offer free or subsidised places to smart kids that can’t afford the fee’s and we have Grammer Schools for those that pass their 11+

Grum thats just hopeless, idealistic, lefty nonsense.

Why should I be forced to send my child to whatever state school the government tells me to regardless of standard? Why shouldn’t hard working people (don’t read into this, I’m talking about average wage earners here…) be able to send their children to a better school than some of the ones being talked about on here (and also the disgrace of a school i went to).

As usual when this post comes up (as it does regularly) there’s a lot of rubbish posted.

I would suggest you go and arrange an appointment to have a look around some private schools. You’ll get a good feel for the place by meeting the teachers, kids and seeing the facilities which should tell you whether its worth spending your hard earned money on it.

4 bar unaffected by braking? Search “FSR brake jack” on you tube…

Can’t argue with that video but all I can say is that on my Ellsworth Moment when I do exactly the same test it doesn’t move a millimetre. The SP jumps up like the fsr on that video.

If I’m really bored this weekend I’ll do a video myself.

Four bars aren’t affected by braking according to my highly scientific test….

I own both a four bar and a single pivot bike and I’ve tested both by taking out the shock on a workstand and then spinning the weels and braking. On the single pivot the swing arm jumps up with braking, 4 bars are completely motionless.

I quite like the brake squat you get with single pivots, it slackens up the angles downhill, but you do get stutter and skids which you don’t get with 4 bars.

I prefer 4 bars but nowt wrong with single pivots.

Many women choose families over a career, and take on lower paid part time jobs, surely that removes any credibility from the figures?

I suspect its less of a problem than people think.

I don’t think he has to replace the wall unless the council stipulated this as a requirement when granting permission. Just because someone owns a boundary doesn’t necessarily mean they have to put up a fence.

Why not put your own fence up there? He would still ‘own’ the boundary but you would own the fence and he wouldn’t be able to touch it. I have a boundary owned by my neighbour which consists of a wire fence but my house’s previous owner put up a hedge which I now own. You might need to place the fence a few centimetres on your side so its not actually ‘on’ the boundary but at least you would own and have control of the fence.

EDIT: the above assumes he owns the boundary. Check your deeds as someone said above.

Further to my post above, I have a Talas 36 fork and most of the time I run it at 140 as this seems to be where its most comfortable and then just wind it out for the rocky lakes descents.

I really like mine although I’m not really man enough to do it justice. I weighed the frame once, 7.14 pounds including shock which is light for a 6 inch ally frame.

so therefore having an auto diesel becomes the same as a petrol as of the auto.(i think)

Not necessarily true with modern automatics. Some Auto Golfs for example are more economical than the manuals with the same engine.

Prevention is best, best tip I learnt was to wax your car. The flies just don't stick or when they do they're much easier to clean off.

They are crap. I bought my missus one and it has been replaced twice and the third one gains time too.

Shame, they look neat and if they only worked it would be a good product.

Whilst he is undoubtedly a tool the problem is that house conversions are a terrible idea and don't give any sound insulation.

I've been in one, its a cracking drive, sporty and fast but super relaxing to drive and luxurious inside. The diesel is impressively economical: 38 mpg combined.

Servicing, tyres etc are silly expensive though and there's not much room in the back either. Its a big car as well, too wide for the country lanes where I live.

Who owns the fence? If your neighbour owns it there's nothing you can do except put up a new fence higher than the old so you're not overlooked.

If you own it then I suppose you could make a claim against him for damaging the fence by putting soil against it but would you really want to sue him for it?

You can find out who owns it on your land registry document. A 'T' denotes who owns the boundary.

I twittered UU and it is legal to wash your bike, your patio and driveway with a hose during a hosepipe ban. Its only really to stop gardens being watered and car washing.

    See here username 'propergnarly'.

There is a moral issue but the reservoirs have been well topped up recently so I sprayed my bike down tonight with gay abandon (-:
