It’s always worth reporting, if there is enough independent reports I’d like to think something wood be done. Even if it’s a quiet word that you are on our radar.
Sussex Police have a very quick online reporting system and it is definitely looked at as I’ve had feedback the couple of times I’ve used it.

Yes, if that is that the two layer type. They work alright if you can get the layers to line up properly but once washed and turned inside out a few times you have to spend a bit of fiddling to get them back the right way. I get on much better with the thorlo padded type.

I’ve found flats a great help. With clipless pedals anything a bit trick i’d unclip before hand and compromise my ability to pedal through.
With good shoes and pedals the grip is so good you don’t loose much over clip-ins.

Try turing off things like Ant, WiFi and GPS and you might get closer to the max advertised battery life. Completely defeats the point of having it but anyway.
Garmin do sell an external battery pack thing but its about £70.

The imapacts do look odd off the bike but they do just work. With a set of superstar pedals you almost feel as secure as being clipped in. I had a set of shimnano flats and they were good but just not quite as grippey.

I had the same with a X2 and I loosened the bolt through the lever a touch and that seems to solve the problem.

Its also surprising how much an effect on performance a pint a lunchtime had or how demoralising a headwind is.?

I used to do 22 miles each way twice a week. Fairly hilly, got it down to about 75-80 minutes after I got into it. Probably best to break yourself in gently and expect to be a bit knackered and hungry to begin with.

I’ve got a x fusion hilo and upgrade were very reasonable on repair costs particularly given that I’d bought it second hand. So I wouldn’t have any concerns warranty wise with xfusion.

They also don’t come up on eBay very often to give one a try by the buying and selling on route. I think there is an XL one on just now but a bit big.

I liked the idea of the krampus so much I went for the singular rooster. Your welcome to have a try in November :-)
I don’t think there is any local dealers unfortunately.

When I view it on my tablet there is a lot of embedded spam appearing as menu items making the site unusable. If I use a PC I don’t see them.

I lost mine and picked up a set on eBay for about £10. Buying new they were surprisingly expensive.

A few years ago Oakleys customisation site went a bit wrong and was going prices about 50% off. Initially they canceled the orders, then they resistated them at no charge. Someone had obviously done the calculation of raw cost of materials version amount of publicity and goodwill this generates.
It depends if the company wants to go down the Ryanair or the John Lewis customer service model. Both ways seems to be profitable but one seems to have a glow of can do no wrong and the other gets a constant kicking.

actually will the touring even work with garmin own belts. They have done similar things before with the forerunner range, you had to get the right model or it wouldn’t work.

As someone with a number of Sunntu belts (really must get round to selling them) I can confirm they wont work with Garmin Edges. Its really anoying.
Halfords had the Garmin premium belt for £38, which is good as the list price is about £50.

The Ramin I looked at has one set of mounts, not sure if they were intended for rack out guards.

Stick with their relevent own brand, let them brand them up and get more for your money?
The pinnacle ramin seems to get good reviews and was on my shortlist for a new bike (went for a sale genesis instead).
When my company was opening a new site management were very negative on getting some company bikes, health and safety I think was the excuse. I’d be interested in hearing how the scheme does.

The deore m615 are £35 an end from CRC at the moment. If cash is limited can you get away with upgrading only one end for now?
You could also replace just the caliper, I’ve have previous generation XT levers on a m615 caliper. The fittings were all the same so it was just case of unscrewing the hose from the old caliper then onto the new. One quick bleed later and they were sorted.

You also the seatpost mounted ones but they are limited in the weight they can carry.
Im trying to find something similar but for a Alfine bike so the OMM ones are out.

Postman pat winds me up with his basic incompetence. Plus why does everyone order stuff from the next town over and not collect rather than letting Pat loose/play/break it, grr.

Depending on your brake you can get away without a rebleed. I’ve managed it on a set of hopes and a set of avids.

I’ve just bought one off of sports pursuit for £40. Still waiting for it to turn up bit looks reasonable. One of the wheel building books gives instructing on how to build a jig and someone listed one in the for sale forum.

It would give the hubs compatibility with suspension forks. A bit of future proofing?

Specialized allez always gets good reviews, similar price. My first road bike was a specilized tricross and I really enjoyed that bike. It was geared really lowly which meant I was able to spin my way up hills past roadies with standard gearing much to their annoyance.
I think modern sora had moved to the same gear shift lever as the rest of the range. When I had it it had a little switch that was difficult to get from the drops.

I base my wheelbuild pricing on what evans charge which is £30. That includes spokes and rim tape. If you look at the wheel builder tool on just riding alongside website it gives a good breakdown on costs of nice hubs and spokes.

But can the Kris Holm rims be run tubeless easily? They do look good for the price though.

I was thinking of going for the rims and building them up myself. My reasoning is down more to cash flow at the moment and not knowing anything about the hubs. Even going for XT spec hubs (about £55) by the time I’ve bought spokes the total price isn’t going to be far off the cheapest wheelset price.

Halfords have then, m6 bolts in with their other useful bike bits like crimps and cable ends. Avid bolts will work but tend to be surprisingly expensive as you also get their extra concave washers.

Given how much extra they charge to send to an IV postcode I’d have thought they’d be much more careful shipping stuff.

Economys of scale. It would be interesting to see how the sale figures compared but I would guess rolhoffs are in the hundreds at best whereas the acera would be in the tens or hundreds of thousands.
If the Alfine covers off that market for shimano would they ever get a return on their development spend?

I got them from Evans for about £35, still expensive but I should save on new inner tubes.linky

Bear in mind that a 29er tyre has a bigger diameter than a 700c one. I was looking at 29er and the only one that had mount points when I offered up a topeak rack the tyre would have rubbed.
I have a topeak disk compatible one on my roadrat and that seems pretty good. I picked it up for £20 on eBay rather than the £40 new price.
Unless you aren’t carrying much I wouldn’t bother with the seatpost mounted ones, they flex a bit too much.
So you have two issues, getting one wide enough to avoid disk calipers and long enough to miss the tyre.

I’ve just got last year’s but only been on one ride but I think it’s great.
MBR have just done their top hardtail of the year review and the latitude got 8 out of 10 but seemed to be marked down on having too long a stem.

Its the same with any job, quality tools make it a pleasure rather than a chore. No idea why I’ve taken so lone to getting a crown race tool :-)
The aldi one is perfectly functional but I would love to have a Park or Kestrel one. I had a bonteger one for a bit but it was a bit inflexible to how you could move the bike around and an elite one that the BB and front forks clamped to, great as lone as you work need to do something to the front of the bike.

It will depend on how your company sets up it’s loan period. Mine used to be 18 month but is now 12 month. In the case of the 18 month scheme though scheme ran every year you couldn’t have 2 concurrent loans. Our new scheme seems fine with every year, though you can get “safety equipment” only if you have ran out of variations.
