As said above, the V50’s are not massive, maybe a V70 would be the right size for you ? on the used pre 2008 market they cost around the same price.

What year you thinking ?? if you are going older, try and get a pre dpf one, ideally in sports spec if your going done the oil burner route.

The 2.4 petrol is not that quick and does like a drink if you go down the petrol route… but you have the option or the 1.8, 2/0 and T5..

I nearly purchased one and spent a lot of time looking into them.

    Dont rule out a E46 or E39 touring… B6/B7 A4

as mentioned above, the dedicated electrics will enable the tow profile on most modern premium cars when the 13 pin socket is connected (not an issue if you are only using it for a bike rack) which enabled the stability profile.. (this helps due to snaking etc and allows the car to take this into account… without this the car can over react making the situation a lot worse.

plus.. disables rear camera, PDC, extended blub out warnings, etc…

Great video.. enjoyed the main content. Did not enjoy the Benny hill soundtrack outakes… I think it would work better to switch the audio on the section and trim the falls to maybe 2-3 second pre crash…

    Great content!

Its all about the grip on the shoes…

Im currently using a set of walking type shoes (strong sole) which are serving me well and griping the nipples on the pedals very well

I’ve never seen the attraction of a detachable towbar. I always felt that a towball was a bit of an incentive for the guy behind to leave an adequate gap! More so would it encourage those parking behind to be careful or [/i]they ,rather than I, would suffer the consequences.

Yes– but I would prefer not to have it visible all the time, plus I was unable to get a fixed one.

I had a tow bar (not removable) and electrics fitted to a Passat estate and it only cost about £150, detachable ones were about double if a remember correctly. £600 seems rather IMO.

You can get a basic towbar a lot cheaper…

I said £600 as a approx figure I paid… I have just looked at the prices online now for mine…

Detachable towbar & dedicated 13 pin electrics = £260.00 (which is cheap as at one point the towbar alone was £220.00)
    Rear Defuser (OEM)- £96.00
    Hitch Cover (OEM)- £35.00
Cost to prime & paint (oven baked) – £100.

    Labour – Around £150

    Total – £641.00

I have been looking for a mate of mine too…. there’s nothing decent full sus at that end of the market anymore / at the moment.

In my opinion, the 10 year old Marins are over priced…. taking into account they were selling for £200 18 months ago… now they sell for £300…. also the east peaks etc only retailed at 700 – 800 back then

Give it 2 months, thats when the good buys are around pre xmas and winter weather.

My Witter towbar all in cost me around £600 with dedicated electrics.

The cheaper electrics modules dont enable the tow element for the car, (not required for a bike rack but would be if towing anything bigger)

Also, dont forget you may need a new rear skirt/defuser with cut out and hatch — this will also need painting too. (i have not looked at the new model)

My mate ran 24 inch wheels on his Orange Msisle with 170mm front Shermans… Ok it was a play/ jump bike, fast as anything off the mark and stopped on a pin with Hope 6 pots..

ps — he was 24 years of age.. LOL ..

Cheers – im currently running 183mm front and rear.

Think it was just more of a “whim” really, you know when you see it and think that looks nice!! you know how it is 🙂

Cheers — I will just add…. my current set up is working great with braking performance and running true…. (only got 350 miles on them.)

Its more of a “whim / I like that…” really after seeing it on another bike which got my thinking…… 😀 (you know how it is)

So the real question is, out of the box is there a noticeable difference ?

(thing is.. I have not seen the 2 side by side either from a looks point of view….. )

    🙂 🙂 🙂

I had one on my F800, really enjoyed that bike for around 8 years, the fork served me well and required very little maintenance over that period… (think i only ever serviced every 2 years, however at the time it was my summer bike.

I sold my F800 which was 10 years old at the time for £500 so it was a great investment in the sense I only gave £800 (used) for the bike all them years before…

rict, were yours 2013 and, mundiesmeister, were yours the factory jobs with trail adjust or just the basic evolution? Just trying to understand the different experiences and work out whether the factory jobs are actually any better than the evolution model, which I also thought were amazingly bad.

rickt: I have some 32 Float 140 FIT CTD w/Trail Adjust, not a bad fork, does what it needs to do

mundiesmiester:Got a set of 2013 ctd 140 floats that came on a new bike this year – was shocking

Yeah – mine are 2013’s, took a bit of tweaking with PSI and rebound to get them where I wanted them and understanding the positive and negative effects once warm depending on surface , but now I find they run sweet, (Think im running them still maybe 5psi too hard and a click of rebound as I would like a little more movement on mild stuff when in descent mode, however even running the same trails they are different each run,) but that’s a tweak I will do before I next go out i think…

While drinking a glass of wine… Nothing wrong with the odd drink or so on an evening.

I tend to drink at mostly at weekends maybe a few tins or bottles, or sometimes go for a full week without..

Fact is… I have kiddies so its only ever light drinking when they are around anyway…. not like when i go out with the lads and hammer it!!

Parents fault… not the kids fault… however at the same time if your bike cant take a little bit of gentle abuse by a child, its not going to stand up to a hammering on a trail.

Or you should of just gone and dived on their tent…..

I have been out today on the MTB and while there was a lot of “us” out, there was a lot of them roadie people out too tramming it along on the road section climb… ie coming past at around 15mph quicker…..

One thing while out today that got me thinking while slugging it up the hill is that theres 3 types of roadies…

type 1) out for a gentle ride spinning them pedals wearing causal gear
    2) Roadies who think they are semi-pros wearing full lycra with branded logos of the bike they are riding or clothes brand…
    3) Deluded people thinking they ride for a pro team in the full gear complete with an advertisement bill board.. i saw 2 guys wearing matching outfits… green Europcar kit… is that cool ?? also a few guys today where out advertising Garmin….

Each to their own and horses for courses as they say…. but when i go out on my road bike (yes i have one too!!) I just wear plain shorts and a top…

    thoughts ?

I’m sure the 4 will be outdated in 18 months. The thing is you can pick one up for 150 pounds. In 18 months pick up a 5 for 150 pounds.
How much is a 5 now? A whole lot more.

I would like to know where you can get a new iphone 4 for £150 ?
