If people don’t get out of the slow lane you sometimes have to start from standing, going up a hill, and when the slip road runs out there’s a bridge so no hard shoulder.

No such thing as a slow lane.

This is a prime example that people who are traveling along the carriage way are not reading the road. I guess you mean M6 J14, yes its a short slip road, into 3 lanes of traffic…. so i’m not sure what your point is ?

Restricted speed limits are also set in Germany by the way…

Speed limits need to be respected and you should always drive to the conditions.

The 70mph speed limit was set in the UK in 1965 and that still the limit.

My point is that a lot of UK drivers do not compare to the better standards on the EU.

Our motorways, slip roads in the UK are as good as those on the EU, (our slip roads tend to have a lot of run off) the problem is we are an island all fighting for the same piece of tarmac.

If you want to drive fast, do track days or go to the North Loop.

I can’t see a logical or moral reason why cars should not be ltd to 70mph, and then try and enforce an f1 pit style remote speed limiter arrangement in lower speed areas. Then the traffic cops would be virtually redundant. Gradually the hegemony of road aggression and death will decline and the world will become a better place.

Complete tosh….why 70mph? It’s perfectly safe doing 120-130mph down the E* roads in Germany or even 130 kph in France even.

Problem in the uk is people don’t respect lower speed limits and can’t drve at speed

I could type for hours on this subject…

In summary.. A decent premium brand winter tyre will out perform a cheaper summer tyre above 7’c.

Wear rate is not a massive issue on more premium tyres now.

Once you run winter tyres you won’t look back, I ruin them on both cars mounted to their own set of wheels, currently running Michelin alpins and Dunlop winter sport 3ds.

The unit will be mainly used offroad and live in a bag if that makes any difference… plus plenty of valleys..

(I find the battery drain is also caused by the mobile phone searching for signal too, so sometimes disable that too!!)

    Cheers

Well.. on the HTC, I have a spare battery and take it some times, but the ride splits into 2 segments as i upload before swapping battery’s. … (2100ah)

Iphone 4, 5 hours running time results in 10% – 5% battery left or flat.

I have found myself taking both phones out in the event that one drains and I need to call someone!!

Cheers lemonysam – I will take a look online at them first.

At a guess, rather than turn around times, BA flights most PAX will tend to take a hold case compared to a budget airline who take a premium for the pleasure.

If it was a no choice option and you was away on holiday….. I would suggest looping a rope around the bent rail, then onto a strong static object and another rope around the rear towing eye (rather than towbar) to the end of the rack… then just use the weight of the car to bend it SLOWLY!! (make sure you dont get rope whip though!!)

as it is only weak metal in the grand schemes of things… you could get away doing it on the towbar.. your call…

Seen this method a few times on bumpers when 4×4’ing !!

Other option… get someone who knows what there doing and heat it up !! 🙂
