Get one in Kwaka green in 16 inch. Ta.

Forgot to say, how about the Chumba hardtail? BB is less than 12 inches (IIRC) but it’s an eccentric jobber so you could faff about with the height and effective seat angle, chain stay length, etc. Alu though…

Chammy is eccentric BB too but at its lowest setting is 13 inches which is no bloody good for playing around with.

Nope. 13 inches with 140mm forks. Go and measure yours and see what it is.

I don’t get on with high BB’s – they make the bike feel too tall.

    Retirement does that to people.

Reading your mtbr review it sounds like you don’t like a high BB and the Chammy has one of the highest for a hardtail. How about a Genesis Alpitude? Or is it not the right brand image?

    Have a look at quickiedivorce.com
There’s quite a few like it and they have all the guides and works out cheap, but to be honest it’s almost as easy to go to the office where you hand in the paperwork and they’ve got all the forms and guides for you. Relatively easy to do but there are only 4(?) ways of doing it – 2 years separation and both sign, 5 years separation and only 1 signs, adultery or irreconcilable differences. The people at the council offices are usually very helpful.

Good luck. I did it with my ex-wife all very amicably as she’d changed her mind on wanting kids. I’m now super happy with a 6 month old boy and a fantastic partner (I hate that phrase but girlfriend sounds too glib).

I’m enjoying my Genesis Alpitude greatly right now. I always found my Chammy to be too high in the BB (felt very tall when on it), so I s’pose the same would go for a Stiffee for me.

    What? Bizarre idea…

    You’ll be fine.

willy – colostomy bag is for your crap, basically, and takes it from high up the intestine so it’s very watery. She ate normally during the time she had the bag, so no worries there. She was only operated on because they couldn’t fathom out what it was for ages and then by the time they sussed it out it was a bit late to start on the drugs. She took the steroids and they just held off the inevitable to be honest. All worked out for the best and she’s effectively been ‘cured’ by having that part of the gut taken out, but it could come back again on a different part so she still has to be careful about her diet.

Don’t park in the pub, they’re miserable sods so not worth going to for food or anything and there’s always plenty of space on the main street.

BigNick had his old Hustler powder coated and when it cracked Cove said no cos he’d had it powder coated, so ‘dale will prolly be the same. He’s now got that Kwacka coloured Heckler instead.

A friend has it (first symptoms at about 33 or 34) but she was diagnosed very late and ended up being rushed into hospital after losing about 3 or 4 stone and about a week from dying. They operated and cut out a portion of her gut. She was then on a colostomy bag for 6 months while it all healed, went back and had the bag removed and is now all good. She has to be careful what she eats and stuff, but she had a close call.

Well, greasing the drop-out didn’t work in the end. Ride home was just as creaky and it does sound like the spokes are being pulled, so I’ll try the oil on the spokes trick.

Cleaned and greased my dropouts this morning before riding into work and it seems to have cured the creaking. Mostly.

    Cheers for the tips.

Go medium then. I’m your height and ballsed up by going large. Great if I wanted to do an all-dayer, but for my riding (razzing round trail centres and local woods for 2 to 3 hours) it was never right. Great frame, just wish I’d bought a medium.

Mine creaks as though the spokes are being pulled, more noticeable climbing/under power. Is that the same as your noise? Mine’s getting worse. :|

I have a Cobalt and have used it for about 18 months without any problems. And anyway, as someone above says – 5 year gurantee and 2Pure are good with warranty stuff.

Prolly still have a BB that’s way too high.

Are you the cuckold? Odd question, even for this place. Especially in the Bike Forum.

Anyway, that’s what you get for listening to bl00dy Jeremy Vine.

Yup, Manitou did post mount from way back.

Don’t Hope do different side bodies to take account of post/IS mounts and disc sizes? You can certainly get a plain adapter if not.

I’ve got a pair of the soft knee pads with that dough that goes hard when you bang it. They’re fantastically comfy to ride in but a bit warmer than my old 661 Veggies. The comfort outweighs the warmth though!

Go middle ground and try the 150mm Talas 32’s. I’ve got a set and they’re ace. I used to have Pikes and never used the U-turn as it took way too long with too many winds and twisty turns, but the Talas is just 2 clicks and it’s dropped from 150mm to 110mm. I find I use it quite often, just cos it’s easy.

There is one written by a Spanish sounding chap. Can’t be more help than that, but it really is very, very techy and sounds just the thing for you.

    Rickos

No worries. Just make sure you have the bike upside down when you put air in the negative and it pushes it back in. My Pikes do it too. Just one of those things I think.

You can also smooth welds down like Cannondale frames, so this excuse of it looking better doesn’t hold.

So those Taiwanese geezers must be bloody good then.

But they only ever mention brazing and lugs, never welding.

Right, i know these schemes are to get people to ride to work rather than take the car but……

……..do they check how far away from work you live and do they know you won’t want to cycle that far on a daily basis??

I know a pilot for Virgin. Lives in Wales, flies outta Gatwick and getting a new Trek on C2W.

Yeah, little rubber screw to take off, but make sure you’ve clicked down to the smallest ring/cog first otherwise the end of the cable isn’t in the right place.

Popped the cherry of my Genesis Alpitude last night and it was perfect. I was in it, not on it if you get me.

Richie – uppie downie seatposts are brilliant. I got mine direct from Gravity Dropper and they do free postage and a free shim. Cost me £172 a few weeks ago ($250) but the customs and excise man did me for £15. Previous one got through with no charges though, so you may get lucky. They handily put the value as $45 though, so it’s not too bad.

I have mine back as far as possible cos that places them a bit behind the ball of my foot and makes downhilling and jumping and bombing about more comfortable. Having the cleats forward just feels weird and not very comfy.

Mine are set as far back as possible and pointing at my little toe…or is it my big toe?

I’ve just popped my Alpitude’s cherry this evening and I’m well pleased. Its awesome and EXACTLY what I was after. At last I can now settle with this after failing with a Chameleon. The Chammy felt way too tall for my liking.
