Yes, Pro II hubs can be converted for 10 or 12mm bolt through axles. Kits cost about £15 to £20 for the axle and end caps and then you need to drift it in I think. Sounded like too much potential for a cock-up so I got my LBS to do the swap when I went from 12mm to QR.

P.S. Druidh has a Meta 5 that he's looking to sell soonish.

Coiler would be too much bike IMO. You'd be better off with a 4 or maybe 5 inch travel bike for Cannock & Wyre.

BushBaby top of the range one (forget its name). It's got suspension so the passenger isn't bounced around as much, but that also means you don't feel their weight through your knees with every step as much either. Super adjustable straps and back length to get the perfect fit, so really comfy. I used it for an hour and a half at the weekend with our 7 month old boy with no problems or discomfort. We got it on an offer for £80 (I think).

Isn't that new Decade Virsa slackish?

    No, it's 70.5.

From memory Worland only did that to keep the angles from getting too slack. thomthumb has a point though, so unless you've already got 170/180mm forks and a 24 inch wheel is it really worth it?

5 and Mojo would be way too similar. Sounds like a hardtail isn't for you if you get a bad back. How about converting the P7 to singlespeed and use that for local pootles?

POC. Excellent pads in a Stormtrooper kinda way. The upper part of the knee pad is hinged and uses that funny dough stuff that’s soft until you hit it. The Bike Chain in Edinburgh do them mail order.

Cos he’ll prolly get the Banshee Viento I’m guessing. Viento is less burly but very similar geometry.

I loved my Scirocco, wish I stil had it in a way, but they make it with a silly small seat tube diamter and I love my Gravity Dropper too much now. Anyway, I can never tell the difference between back ends really, but it felt no different to my Alpitude (steel) or my Chameleon, both with 2.3 High Rollers.

    Full bike or frame only?

I did this and ended up with a little set of special drill bits that had a thread running the wrong way, so basically you drilled the appropriate sized bit into the rounded off hole, it gripped and then spun the bolt out easy as pie. I forget what their called, but any handyman shop should have them.

I too often find myself on a bit of descent where I’ve forgotten to put it down and wouldn’t want to take my hands off the bars. So, despite the fugly extra cables and stuff I’ll stick with my remote.

It’s only right the Straw considers public opinion – that’s his job

Is that like taking a Straw poll?

We had a collie follow us for several miles over the top at Les Arcs last week (about 2500 metres up). I think he hooked up with some walkers going back to Les Arcs 2000 for his return leg.

Which final descent though – Skyline or Whites? Both are great, but Whites is prolly my favourite overall route, especially if you mix in a loop of the black run too.

Don’t forget – there’s 2 centres that are both included as Afan. The old centre at Afan and the newer one at Glyncorrwg about 4 miles up the road. Glyncorrwg has camping, licensed cafe, good bike shop, showers, etc.

5 foot 11 and I had a large. It was too big for razzing round the woods for a couple of hours – shoulda got the medium.

Moral? Depends what you want it for – razzing, go smaller; XC, go bigger.

Just back from an Alps trip and 2 of our group had Tracers. Both running it in 6 inch mode with Fox 36 Talas forks. I asked them what the point of just half an inch difference in travel adjustment was and they said it alters the geometry quite a bit, enough to make it much more racey feeling especially with the forks wound down to 130mm. Very nice looking bikes as you can see.

Open bath oil system, so it’s just the oil sploshing around and lubricating everything nicely.

So, with £5 delivery you’d be paying £3.33 per tube. How cheap do you want them to be?

The food was awesome as was the selection of films. I’ve now been indoctrintaed into the ways of Anchorman and Team America.

Fantastic natural riding with van uplifts or ski-lift access to the bike parks in the area. A great week.

Just back from a week at The White Room in Sainte Foy, so forgive my self-indulgence.

Silver forks, white & black frame – not the best for colour schemes that look cool.

This would be good if they did break away. Lets go and visit some classic old tracks. I wonder how Williams and Force India are feeling now?

We have some trail fairies too round here. They mark the trail with fallen branches and make berms and jumps out of fallen trees. They are ace and I’d buy them a fairy cake any day.

Gravity Dropper here. Ordered 2 in the last few months direct from GD in USA. $250 for the remote version and I got the multi drop type – 1 inch and 4 inches. First one cost £182 after exchange rate malarkey and 2nd one was £168 (better exchange rate), but then I got clobbered for £15 VAT and excise duty so it worked out about the same. Fortunately they mark the goods as $45 value. First one arrived in 7 days, 2nd one was about 2 weeks after they’d done the customs & excise thing. Both work excellently and I wouldn’t be without one now.

Most of the World Cup top flite didn’t race. I guess they don’t really want to end up injured for a potentially bigger prize.

Once again, the commentator on Eurosport was appalling. He didn’t even realise when one bloke had a puncture and that was why he was riding slowly!
