And of course don't forget the big falconry centre at Newent. I still need to go there. It's the biggest in England or Britain or something.

Links out is best – not sure you can adjust spring tension really. Bizarre that it should do this though with exactly the same gears on the front. I thought the front mech needed to be 1mm above the big ring? May be wrong though.

Symonds Yat East and West up between Monmouth and Ross.
East for good pubs (Saracens Head especially) and Kingfisher Cruises up and down the river. Nice old railway line back to Monmouth that would be good for biking with a kiddie seat – about 6 or 7 miles.
West for butterfly farm and hedge maze, but only good for 2 or 3 hours.

Above Symonds Yat East is the Yat Rock which has excellent views. There's a car park up there too with a little shop for ice cream and stuff.

I'm 5ft 10in with a 33 inch inside leg, so stumpy of body and long in leg :-) . My 18 inch 2004 model felt a wee bit large.

I need a new HT II BB and was looking at Hope for their easy serviceability. TBH though my Shimano ones seem to last very well, just I nipped it up a wee bit tight this time round so it's only lasted 10 months. Previous one was 2 years and is prolly still OK, but I was swapping frames and thought a new BB was about due.

Get a Gravity Dropper then you don't have to keep undoing and doing it up.

D'Oh! But you just sold yours! Heh heh…

Cheers Ben and Dusty – I may well have to compromise and have some stack height at the bottom of the headtube for clearance. Either that of a gert big chunk of pipe lagging gaffer taped on to top end of the downtube!

    ADH – why I outta… *shakes fist*

Mine will be the same as yours – I still have the OE ones. I bought the spacer to go on the bottom of the headset after a crash bent the Motion Control adjuster but I preferred the way it rode before without the spacer. The spacer has the slot in it already for the bearing race to slot into, so no need for a separate bottom housing. You should be OK with what you've got if you only want to replace the bearings.

Anyway, back on topic…anyone? *hopes Ben is reading this as it looks like he doesn't use the spacer*

DH tubes (cheap option) or go tubeless with a double ply sidewall tyre. What rims are you running? Some claim to have a more rounded sidewall profile over the top to help stop snakebites.

Or listen to it on Radio 5 Sports Extra through the web. That's what I'll be doing.

So where did you come then? How did BJ do?

I'd defo look at that Chumba. EBB that's set real low (11.75 inches IIRC) which means that it isn't stupid high even when the chain tension is adjusted, unlike the Chameleon that starts at 13 inches and only gets higher!

As you know, Al, it all worked out great for me and we used Match.com. As Hairychested says – be brutal (as in drop it if it's not right rather than struggling on – lifes too short), be honest (but they'll expect you to hide your profile after 2 or 3 successful dates – I did and she was watching to check!) and be yourself (you're a hunk of burning love, so no worries there!).

    Good luck!

    Love,
Rickos – thanks to Match now engaged and with a cracking little 7 month old boy.

P.S. PM me about the dirty stop out incident. Heh heh..

Need to measure the width of your new bike's BB to know for sure if it's 73mm. Don't know about the axle width though – the Middleburn website may be able to help, but I do know it needs to be spot on to work best.

stumpy – that's the DRCV which is the same on the Roscoe, not Boost Valve.

Yeah, some chap posted a photo of his and it came with the 2010 Fox shock with that new Boost Valve thingy. What difference it makes I don't know.

This is the link to the race website although it seems a bit borked right now. Might have results and stuff on it.

Just the alloy oxidising a little.

Take a look at the Genesis Alpitude (not Altitude). Low standover, 853 steel and seems to tick those boxes. I run mine with Pikes and love it. Nice low BB compared to what seems to be common these days.

Did the Blorenge route out of this months MBR. It's meant to be one of the 10 best rides in Wales. Hmmmmm…it was good, but not sure about top 10.

Prices are on the board, so if you can't add up the price of a massive beans on toast and a can of coke then that's your look out.

Anyway, I did W2 with the Drop Off Cafe as lunch and as trailmonkey says, it makes you very slow back up the whites climb. Awesome trail on the whole though. Nice bit of linkage past the wind turbines and great views.

I had a polished Azonic frame. That's how it came from the factory with stickers just slapped on. Not sure if there was any protection on it or not, but it didn't look like it. Looked good for the 3 or 4 years I had it. Maybe blasting it with the polishing beads that a proper polishers would do seals the alloy better or something rather than just getting out the Brasso.

Can certainly vouch for Stevomcd above. We (8 of us) stayed with him just a few weeks ago and had an awesome time.

Anyone tried to play Scrabble yet Steve?
