I would have been, but some chav scum stole my bikes yesterday :(

Apparently it was a targeted attack, another three homes in the area were targeted too. So it looks like it’s someone with local knowledge who’s helped out.

I hope someone runs them down while riding my bikes. Scum.

    It’s the same bikes – Simon’s a mate :)

    Thanks for the thread.

We’ve had the shed re-secured by the insurance company. We’ll be heading out to get the shed roof properly secured. Pretty annoyed, as I’d put big bolts through the doors, had two padlocks, and superglued all the screw heads so they couldn’t be unscrewed.

    Plus had an alarm.

All this didn’t matter, cause that was securing the door from entry!

Your best best is to give Simon at Loco Tuning a call, he’ll sort you out – will be able to give you the best advice, and give them a service. He may be about to do something with the wear, but best to ask him first :)

    Here’s his number: 01443 838 336.

Hi website is about too….. http://www.locotuning.co.uk

Top chap, sorted lots of my stuff and the cost is a lot lower than the usual suspects too.

“It just seems a shame to sell it for £300 when ive looked after it so well”

The problem you have, is that if it’s 7 months old – with some use, it may need a new drivetrain soon, bearings may need replacing soon’ish (bb, headset, wheels), plus pads.

Then… you have the lack of warranty – so if frame cracks the buyer could be in trouble.

I’d have thought the dart forks are elastamer and dont really need servicing.

Problem is, bikes need servicing in general – a new bike doesn’t (or shouldn’t).

Real shame though, cause even though it appears mint, no one will pay mint prices for it based on the possible scenarios above.

Also, which would be cheaper – stick up a WTD ad here for a 3g, someone will have one for sale – probably in mint condition.

Get an Iphone 3G 8GB, not noticeable worse than a 3gs, and loads cheaper too if she’s after an iphone.

    like this: £200.

Unless you have a decent positive ape index, then you’re a medium.

(Obviously some frames are small for a medium i.e. Commencal, Santa Cruz, Giant, Scott, but 580mm sounds average to me…)

Your height is in your legs, so i’d have thought the tt would be the least of your worries – i’d be looking at how much of the seatpost would need to be out of the seattube… i.e. is a 350mm seatpost too short on the medium?

What frame are you looking at BTW?

Give Simon a ring at Loco tuning, he’s very reasonably priced and his turn around is very quick too.

    Awesome.

The bb is a push-fit, so i’ll not have a spare hanging around :)

Although I’m going to leave the headset in, as it’s gash, and i might just replace the bb, or see if someone has a knackered one on here.

    cheers for the help.

What about the bearing surfaces for the linkage? (its a full sus)

Ah, i thought the Formula calipers were a bit odd, and any old adapter would foul against the body..?

Post to post 180? I think i’ve got a formula one in the spares box you can have :) Err… they’re like £25 new for some reason… so £10 posted? It’s never been used, and i should have the bolts too :)

Probably not. What camera is it? The shutter speed and general processing response will determine the speed of the camera. *Most* compact point and shoot digitals will have a delay between button press, focus and taking of the photo – only a DSLR/SLR will overcome that issue, a pro-sumer camera may also.

M:Part low profile headsets are 24mm if i remember correctly, markedly cheaper than the CB.

I believe the FSA stems are the shortest too…

My missus who does 12hr solos swears by her bontrager rl women’s saddle. Plus they have a 30 day guarentee, ie if you don’t like it after 30 days of use you can have a full refund :)

Ive taken a few pics, but to be fair it isn’t easy to get a photo of the dent – you can see the frame bow in and out – as if it’s hydroformed.

I’ve said i’m returning the frame, as i’m not happy with a dented frame – if i’d have known I wouldn’t have bought it, simple as.

Well, back to the WTD section for me. Anyone selling an 853 hardtail frame for around £100? ;)

Hmmmm…. i’d like to not spend time in hospital. Even if there are nurses about.

    rickon

A dent, as in the frame looks as if it’s been put in a workstand with the clamp edges on the middle of the top tube, then tightened.

Basically the top tube appears pinched in the middle, i did think ‘oooo hydroforming’, then realised… no it’s 853 steel.

There is a good bit of paint missing around the area dented, 3mm x 5mm… so could be crash damage.

    Cheers Simon,

    It’s Scott ;)

I’ve not been able to get in touch with him, can’t find a contact…. failing that i’ll be doing some spraying myself and pursuading the missus that the airing cupboard is a fine place for a just painted frame :)

Apparently it’s Vectran…. stronger than steel and lighter than nylon. Sounds a bit superman.

But all the reviews i can find from users is that the puncture resistance is ace, and at 210g they’re pretty light too.

Plus.. the black chilli compound is great in the wet – apparently…. but what’s the rolling resistance like with that amount of sticky rubber?

Yep – all of that kit will sell easily on here, it’s all standard credit card stuff… thomson, easton, fox, XT….

I would personally avoid eBay, because of the cost they’ll charge for selling £1200 worth of kit… circa £60. Which you’d be better off selling stuff at a slightly cheaper price to STW people, and sharing the benefits.

I could knock you up a list of how much each component is worth if you want to fire me a email…..

Personally, id have it done professionally, check out loco tuning. His service cost is no more than the price of the full seal kit. Plus, he’ll not make any.silly mistakes and has a clean workshop to work in.

He does all my forks and shocks, turn around time is usually next day too. If you’re interested Simon, who runs loco posts here as loco.

I’ve used Maxxis flyweight and welterweight tubes, and they’ve been pretty good – a couple of punctures, but i’m only about 70kg, and don’t wham into things.
