As pictonroad I have also read that a lot of the smear comes from volatiles in all the interior plastics.
Vinegar / newspaper for the win.

Live music is always a great chance to get your eyes (ears) opened – take any chance you can.

Having said that my preference would be to see a band I know well, or someone totally new.

    Muse in Manchester were excellent.
Surprised not to see a few more votes for Green Day.

We replaced a brick double garage with a wooden one – brick one was cracked – possibly due to the flat roof timbers getting soaked and swelling and then displacing the walls – but there was a concern about the foundations which we could not afford to replace.
The wooden one is insulated and is easy on the eye, pitched roof not an issue and not too expensive.
Early days but happy so far.
We are near Worksop / Sheffield – can put you in touch with the builder if this is anywhere near you.

Empty threat IMO – not worth the hassle for them.

Retract your claim reduction and stick to your guns on this.

The fact that they did not complete the work despite repeated requests is enough to kill their case stone dead – you’d be within your rights to call in a pro to finish it and backcharge accordingly.

Anything you have to back up your requests for completion etc will help you of course.

As cp says getting video out is a pain, Surface handles this with a video output but I needed an adaptor to get to the standard plugs, I think you can also adapt via USB which means most tablets could be made to work with a projector or WHY.

Plausible yes but I don’t think this is an application for a Hudl level tablet. I use a Surface Pro with kbd – it is good to the extent I would ditch my PC in its favour excepting only storage capacity. And if you need high end processing power (I don’t) then the Surface would probably struggle.

Be careful, the wrong glue can trash your screen – no doubt a quick google will see you right.

Subscriber here, I’m a few issues behind so maybe I’m out of date but I don’t find a lot of the grouptests very interesting, backpacks, lights are a good subject for this kind of article, handlebars and chainsets less so…

I’ll echo the comment that it is good to cover some lower range stuff and test it seriously, plenty of people (me included) are buying at that level. I don’t remember the £100 light set comment, my current light is a £20 set off Ebay in its second year and still does a good enough job.

Overall – still a country mile ahead of any other mag out there.

The new front cover looks amazing.

^^^ ernie at the risk of getting sucked in here partial quotes are a great way to misrepresent.

You can now add this to your rap sheet.

^^^^ as I said ernie IMO a misjudgement which quite possibly included a failure to google the s word. If you want to see it as a deliberate effort to cause offence – your call.

I’m prepared to believe this was a misjudgement of the level of offensiveness of this particular word by the scriptwriters and it’s already been apologised for – why not leave it there?

Script probably not by Wilman who is producer (tho’ obviously he has responsibility), a lot of scripting is by Richard Porter who has his own site wwww.sniff petrol.com well worth a look IMHO.

Not saying this particular script was down to Porter BTW.

Never used to feel any difference – bit less resilient all round these days so donation is just one other thing that needs extra recovery time vs 10 years ago.

I must be very lucky, break in upper femur a little over 30 years since which was pinned and been absolutely fine once I got the leg active again and physioed.

Never had the pins out and I guess they’ll stay there now.

Not sure if you’d be allowed on the beach or not, I really enjoyed learning to paddle in light surf.

This was bout 40 years ago…

We were in Dolgellau this Easter and paddled down the Wnion which was a total bump and scrape but would be ok if you just want somewhere to launch and potter and play

Can’t really see the benefit (I do see what you are trying to do but savings will be absolutely marginal) and I’m pretty sure no one is going to be marketing this..

    Facel Vega?

There’s only one route for Cader, straight up and down the same track (unless you are naughty and take the footpath (Pony Path) down) – always thought that would be a nice route but it will put you down into Dolgellau the wrong side of a bl**dy great hill!

The run down from the peak of Cader is (IMHO as an XC mincer) a cracking descent.

If you do go down the Pony Path there is a car park at the base – head on from there past campsite and towards the farms and there are some good tracks there, a loop could be made if you don’t mind some cheeky.

    Cader Idris?

I like Nant y Arian, apart from a long fire road climb at one point.

Mind you Cader Idris is also a lot of climbing!

Short term bail out to help out – yes I probably would.
25 year commitment – no – too much can change.

Without getting into your personal situation I don’t think I could easily tolerate the idea that your wife’s going to give you a hard time over this if the answer’s no.

scaled probably has the best idea to finesse yourself out of the line of fire, but you’re only waiting for the next family drama to invent itself. Like the MiL coming to live in… 🙁

The thread is a standard pipe fitting BSP (can’t remember the actual size), so you could extend this with some basic industrial pipe fittings, BSS[/url] can probably help you – if you can find a local branch just walk in and explain your problem.

If it’s like the toilet version then the diaphragm which detects level has started to stiffen and will need replacing. A pretty easy job and Saniflo are helpful with spares.

You MUST power down before you start work – sharp blades!

I’m more than happy with all my Hope gear and the service from Hope.
All four of my MTBs are running Minis, years and years old and infinitely serviceable (yes I know there are better brakes out there – they fill my needs).
Likewise all running Hope hubs, not indestructible but so easy to put right if needed.

Each to their own and OPs experience is clearly different but I don’t see Hope as a company built on hype, just consistently decent product and backup.

    IMHO 🙂

Why not tell your MD your thoughts and intentions? If you are booted then ‘his’ customers are open season, alternatively he may decide he wants you to stay and work only for him and incentivise you accordingly.
Or he accepts your plans and you go ahead.
Not without risk of course…but as others have said if you work on the side for yourself and are found out your employer will assume the worst and look to get you out very quickly.

The Moto seems good, just picked up x2 16gb for my kids from Tesco.

We couldn’t order online (out of stock) but they were available in store in Sheffield yesterday.

    I have a 2009 E61 520d.
Quite quick and fuel efficient but not a brilliant load carrier, seats do not fold flat.
There is also an engine problem for some model years, mine included – Google BMW timing chain.
Overall I like the car but it sometimes feels a bit too nice to throw bikes into, probably go a bit more utilitarian next time!

AFAIK the gas is not particularly poisonous, being as close as possible to inert – so you can’t live on it but traces won’t kill you.

It is a very ‘searching’ gas, ie it will find and disperse through even very minor leak paths.

It is also recorded as the most aggressive greenhouse gas to the extent that any discharges to atmosphere are reportable in the US and will be subject of serious investigation.

Our Panasonic belonged to my Mum and Dad – given to us when they bought another, I guess it’s about 15 years old and still going strong (the tin is a little bit battle scarred but WTF), if it dies we will be looking for Panasonic again.

Engine oil etc is not the same thing although might be better than nothing, you will notice the difference soon enough when you start drilling.
Try Cromwell Tools or ebay for proper cutting oil / grease.

Split the caliper which will then give you good access to the long pin part of the retaining ‘bolt’ – I would think at that point yo will be able to get it moving and remove and replace.
Ideally you should buy a service kit to let you replace the O ring once you’ve split the capliper, you ‘may’ manage without replacing this but probably a bit of a false economy.

Personally Hope/Hope, IME long lasting, endlessly and easily repairable, nice people who bring support to 24 hour races and always seem to command good second hand prices if the time comes to sell.

It’s a nice ride round but not to be underestimated for occasional riders as the trails can be quite sticky and there’s a lot of ups and downs for a lakeside trail.
Wife and I set off to do it and completed about 90% – at which point her bike was thrown down and I was sent for the car!

Assuming you get the police to take action your chances of actually making a claim are probably not great as while you can ID the car you can’t prove (from what I read) the ID of the driver which I believe you would need to do for a successful claim.

I would think twice before you instruct a solicitor, as if the scrote is untraceable or can be identified but has no insurance you will be left to pay their fees.

Which is all wrong but you may have to be pragmatic rather than throw good money after bad..

Well glad you got the frame back, I doubt the repair could have been economic for the maker vs a new frame and TBH I think the weak point is now transferred to the position of the spigot weld – but credit to Lynskey for taking the time and effort to make the spigot join. Even though IMHO it’s wrong headed!

Will be looking for you at SITS.

    Keep us (seat) posted.

Very interesting comments, looks like a shorter course = a smaller event

On balance I did enjoy the course – and now understand it much better

And to be 100% clear, nothing I wrote is meant to detract from the organisers, course designers and all the other fantastic people who make Mayhem a reality, my hat is off to them every year I’ve been…
