I’ve used James Wilson’s training for the last few years. It easy easy to follow with videos to show how to do the exercises. They are all bike specific and build up from nothing gradually to prevent injuries. I noticed a huge improvement of both my confidence and all round fitness. I also started the programme with a chronic bad low back which has now completely gone.
I would highly recommend but follow the plan, I do two sessions in the gym a week, and you see the benefits.

I had a similar issue with my xtr m9000 rear mech. Crazy price for replacement so I bought an xt cage which is aluminium rather than carbon and saved myself £50. Not sure if it would work on the new 12 speed stuff but worth a try.

I hit 63kph on the Dirty Riever this year and there were lots of fist sized rocks so although you may not hit 30 mph other riders do and he has a legit question. I just hope that mine don’t break😬

    Hi,
I live in Harrogate and have a whole range of rides starting and finishing in the town. We have some great gravel locally. I can’t get ride with gps to share my rides but if you go the the website and search for Richard Walker with Harrogate as the starting point all my rides should pop up.

Have a look and see how far you fancy riding. The trails are pretty good in all weather conditions apart from high winds. The Moors above Kirby Malzard are great for gravel riding.

I’ve had 2.1 on 650b and 43c on 700c with plenty of clearance on both options. This is just for frame as I did my own build and didn’t use the selcof fork.

I have the V2 which is the same but with post mount brakes. I can get 29x 2.1 mob tyres in the frame, any gravel tyres will fit. There is tons of clearance.

I have had a Tempest since June and would highly recommend it.  Plus points over the Pickenflick:

Thru axles front and rear on the tempest which are much better than qr when using disk brakes

Greater clearance on the gravel fork specced  on the tempest over the cyclo cross fork on the Pickenflick

I have run 700c wheels with 40 c tyres for road riding including a few club runs and although heavier than my carbon bike it very comfortable over long distances.

Also did the Yorkshire True Grit with 650b wheels and 49c gravelkings and it was perfect, flew past people with skinnier tyres with little risk of pinch flats. I have also run it on the road with WTB horizon 47c tyres and it is just as fast as 700c on the rough roads round Harrogate.

email me if you want some photos of the bike

I’m running an 11-40 rear cassette on a ultegra RX  long cage rear mech with no problems , I also put on a praxis Alba chainset which gives a 32/48 front chainrings. 32. 40 lowest gear is perfect for those steep or long climbs that come at the end of a long day off-road.

OP didn’t ask what other people used or if he should. He asked if it was possible. I am using a long cage 8000 Ultegra di2 with a 42 cassette with no road link. Just screwed the b screw in until the top jockey wheel cleared the biggest cog.

You sacrifice some shifting crispness further down the block.

I think you should try the cassette in the Garage and see if it will work. No harm in trying. Remember you need a spacer to put on the free hub as it’s a Mtb cassette.

Coming from a Mtb background I cannot get my head round pushing a 28 tooth cassette up a 25% slope at 50 rpm. Seems less effort on these climbs to spin a smaller gear and save the legs.

Just a few days to go and it looks like it will stay dry…..

this will be my first long distance off road event so would appreciate any info on the average time taken in previous years so I can make sure I have enough food and water.

    Or the wild grip r2

have run these for last few weeks including a 6 day Enduro in the alps with zero punctures. Highly recommended. Make sure you get the advanced reinforced version.

I have the same bike along with a longer travel Canyon Strive. I have raced both bikes and the stumpy handles itself just as well as the strive which has a longer reach. The bottom bracket is already pretty low.

Get on a skills course. 😀

Ran a 2.5 Breakout for a 2weeks alps trip and it was great. It’s a massive tyre with good rolling resistance. I ran the tough high grip as the fast version’s rubber compound was far to hard for my liking, the high grip was perfect.

I recently bought a pair of Madison Addict 3/4 dark shorts. They are soft shell at the front and full waterproof material at the rear. They a great quality and have Velcro waist tabs at each size to keep them nice and snug. Would def recommend.

Just ordered a set of these for my cross/ winter training bike. Attach with Velcro so can be removed when doing a cross race

Pretty crap. Mine fell apart after 3 months. I have a cheap red Halfords pump that has been used and abused for over 5 years.

Pop the bead off and see how much stans is left, top up as required. I swap tyres on my mtb all the time and have never bothered cleaning off the old gunk.

Just got the email with timings etc for the event and it states that all the sportive riders set off at 9am with the enduro starting in waves from 9:30??
Unless there are only a small number of sportive riders sounds like a recipe for queues and unneccessary mixing of thos racing and those not racing.

I had exactly the same issue installing this bottom bracket in my 2014 stump jumper but the previous of bb was also loose so screwed it up tight and no problems so far.

I agree with the comments regarding looking after the post but this has only been on the bike for three weeks. Regarding the issues being fixed this post had come straight from fishers and had a dec 2016 production date on the box so i would suggest that they haven’t solved the problem, infact this one had the quickest fail time of any i’ve had.

That’s a month away so not a lot of time. That being said try the free 30 day plan from here
    https://www.bikejames.com
The gym exercises and stretches/ mobility drill transformed my riding and my enjoyment. I signed up for the full plan as soon as the 30 day programme ended as it was so good.
His philosophy is that not all exercises have the same results and that by focusing on certain strength and mobility exercises you can have massive gains in performance without hours and hours of boring base miles.
I followed the plan from Nov to august last year in preparation for the trans Savoie (6 day enduro race) and went from struggling round a 3 hour enduro to riding for 6+ hours a day for 6 days on the trot. There are different options depending on the amount of time you want to spend training.
    Highly reccomended

As above, electrolites etc don’t work but getting fitter will however after 2 years of terrible cramps during some enduro events especially after long tough stages i found hotshots.
    http://www.teamhotshot.com
They are not cheap so i only use them in races when i feel the cramp coming on but they stop the cramp instantly and usually last an hour or so till you need another. i highly reccomend them. Pickle juice also has a similar but less effective effect.

Surely the whole point of homework is that the student does it. If you do it for her then the teacher may think that the student has an understanding of something they cannot do thus not providing them with the extra support they need to master the skill.
    No offence intended.

I have the same bike and the bearings you listed are the correct ones. I would however suggest that you remove the pivot bolts and try to turn the bearings rather than relying on the ‘play’ you mention. The two sets of main pivot bearings become seized after 3 ish months of ridingas they have no extra sealing other than the ones in the bearing itself. Due to them being covered in mud every ride they seize up quick. The bearings on the rocker last much longer.
You should also check the ones on the chainstays as they don’t survive longer either. They can be a bugger to get out due to there being two bearings back to back.
In order to extend the life of the bearings i pop the seals off, ritate the bearings and regrease once a months, more often if it’s really muddy.
If you need any help contact me and i’ll try to help.
How long have you had the bike?

Send it back for warranty, i’m on my 5th reverb in 18 months all with the same 10mm sag when i sit on the seat all replaced with a new one from Fishers i think.
I’m not even sure they test them, heard from a bike shop owner that on a visit to fishers he asked about the large bin full of reverbs why they didn’t fix them and they said it was cheaper to send out a new one than pay someone to fix them.

    Try this
    Rab jacket
I have one of these that i carry in the bottom of my pack when riding in winter or the Lakes anytime. Really light but super warm, perfect to throw on when you stop for a break. I have tried cheaper jackets and they compromise on warmth and bulk. I have a full winter down jacket that i now rarely wear as this is warm enough for most days.
