Cinnamon_girl and whimsicalchris, I would also be very grateful if you could identify some good tracks around N. Warnborough, Shalden, Lasham etc.
    Thank

Yes, it will work and I’ve done it on a 1989/90 Cannondale. But if the bike has thin steel seatstays it is worth getting a brake booster too as they will bend.

I recommend buying second hand as lots of people have upgraded to disk.

I’m in Odiham, just over the M3. There are quite a few bridlepaths and these can be put together into a loop.

I also tend to drive up the M3 to Swinley. I park up by Bagshot Church, so it is only about a 20 minute drive.

Although they never turn up, Sinn Fein MPs do claim over £100,000 each for second homes in London. They seem quite happy to take the cash from HM’s government.

And as for Griffin, what do you expect from a tab, an Oxford man would never……….

Get the vanilla, assuming the correct spring is or can be fitted and ask for a discount as it is a cheaper fork.

The vanilla r is a great fork. I’ve had one for a couple of years and find it plush and easy to set up.

I’m 6 foot with long legs and a short body. I have an 18″ with a 70mm stem, and a long seatpost with a bit of layback.

We’ve got two mtb tandems, a Thorn and a Dawes, and I must say the ride of the Thorn is better than the Dawes and I don’t feel it is less stiff or heavier. Thorn also do many options and have a 100 day (?) trial, so don’t rule them out.

    Cannondale always look lovely….

mojo have the parts and service instructions.

I’ve got an unused firm spring for a 140mm 32 vanilla which you can have for £15 posted, if it fits yours. It is from a 2007 fork and has never been used or even put into a fork (came in the box with my forks).

I ride a 19″ Gringo and an 18″ 5 and I’m just about 6 foot. Unless you are over 6 foot an 18″ five should be fine. Try one and see.

Forgot so say that if you are in North Hampshire, then Mountain Trax in near Wokingham have demo bikes and are good to deal with.

I’m 6ft with 34 inseam and ride an 18″ (but I had to get a long seatpost). I reckon you would need a 20″. (I also have a 19″ gringo).

Another vote for a flat-coated retriever here. It would be fluffy and soft enough for you and are great outdoor dogs with lots of stamina. Also better looking than a Golden in my opinion.

Or you could go for a Setter……..

I’ve got a diamond back bike with 20 inch wheels, which you could have cheap. It’s got and aluminium frame, 6 gears etc and is a nice little bike, although it has seen plenty of action. Let me know if you would like pics. I’m near Basingstoke.

Start slow, short and regular as your legs will need to catch up with you heart and lungs which should be in good shape. 10k isn’t very far, so no need to build up to great distances.

And get some decent shoes that suit you sir. Gait analysis is really worthwhile and while £70-80 seems a lot for a pair of running shoes, it is a very cheap sport compared to cycling.

I missed this ride, but would also be grateful for the gps file if possible, as I’m sure I’ve never found some of the good trails. However, I’m interested in future rides!
    Thanks
