I have had a 1.4 TSI touran for 10 years (107k miles). The timing chain has needed replacing twice and is expensive.

Hi, I have got a 2014 Cannondale F29 5 in large. It is in good condition as I ususally ride a full suss. I would let it go for £600 and am near Basingstoke. Don’t really want to post.
email if you want more details

How do I know if I have a wide axle?

It was weird as I tightened the lockring it got tight. So I tried with a 1mm spacer behind and it seems fine! Thanks for the help and sorry for being a hamfisted home mechanic.

I’ve tried it. Cassette is too wide and presses on the hub body so won’t freewheel.

Yes this is what I have bit hub will only take 9 or 10 speed

How does the Viking Honour compare to the normal 12yo Highland Park, which I love?

And you can’t really see it from their garden or the road. It is in our back garden. The chickens are the noisy ones, but next door can’t hear those either.

No the noise doesn’t disturb them. I have asked of course.

My (Australian) FIL turned up one day with a flag pole for us and I didn’t have the heart not to put it up. He keeps sending us all kinds of flags. We put it up in the back garden and it is currently flying the South Australia flag, which has a Piping Shrike on it (a bird). Before that it was the Dominica flag which has a parrot on it! We change it whenever we remember. I quite like the Hampshire flag, but am also keen to get a Wessex one.
    Am I a bad neighbour?

I don’t think I should need a spacer to fit a 10 speed sram cassette onto this, but happy to be corrected.

Yes, a small but noticebale movement when you hold the cassette and pull/push it. I spent ages trying to index the gears and this seemed like the only problem I could find. The cassette lockring is tight and there were similar issues with the old cassette, so I changed it.

Yes. We got one as a second car which is cheap to insure for the kids too. Looked at the VW up etc but the i10 was better equipped, much cheaper and we got 0% finance. It has been brilliant and Hyundai will be top of the list from now on.

Love the look of the Roadhouse but baulked at the price. I am starting to think about replacing my Salsa Pistola with a disc road bike in steel or Ti so threads like this are really useful.

Had a similar thing done on the dog to find out what breeds she is (stray from Battersea). I got the test as a Christmas present and the family had a drunken sweepstake on the results. We were all wrong!

As Spin mentioned, all the kids I know who have gone on trips like this have raised most of the money themselves through car boot sales, car washing etc. Usually there is an 18 month period to do this. Their trips were a similar price and the trips to E Africa and Borneo were really excellent.
My daughter did a Biology expedition to Dominica which was much less (2K), but raised most of the money through baby sitting and selling raffle tickets.

We had a Thorn Voyager, the one for kids at the back, at it was simply ace. Have now sold it to a mate, who says it’s the best thing he has ever bought. So much better than a trailer bike.

    To go with the theme…
My son threw up in the Hogwart’s Great Hall at the Warner Bros. studios in Leavesden, but as I caught it in a doggie poo bag and it was his birthday, they gave us some tickets for another date!!

I picked up an older specialized epic 26er for my son, which served him well for a couple of years. Did all kinds of riding on it including the easier parts of BPW and it was nice and light. There are lots around used.

We had a rat and couldn’t use poison due to chickens and a dog. The live traps did not manage to hold the rat so in the end I lured him out with some quiche and shot him with an air rifle.
