Exactly, who’s becoming the biggest economy now then?

Is that what it’s all about?

I thought the tree huggers were trying to save the world not boost their countries GDP?

Now I worry about the amount of washing my little girl produces as we use washable nappies and struggle with the idea of ‘pampers’ nappies spending up to 100-500 years to degarde fully. I shudder to think what the D’s have produced and consumed as they appear to be lacking the knowledge to make informed decisions regarding the impact they are having.

As I recall test found that the environmental impact of washable nappies vs pampers was about equal.

i think its spongers that get me tbh

Having children is not a prerequisite of being a sponger.

Neither does having =/>1 child mean that one is therefore a sponger.

Yes, when there are millions starving in Africa

What do you suggest we import them for adoption?

My choice in having another child isn’t going to mean a thing to someone starving anywhere else other than my house should we have been short of food in the first place.

We’ve got 2 which is enough for us.

As long one can nurture ones offspring at ones own expense I don’t see the problem with having more though.

Good point rich, but it just amazes me that its “that site” and only that site people use why isn’t there more??

Yahoo used to have an auction site which folded.

There have been lots of others too.

Ime what kills the sites is the lack of buyer traffic and therefore low prices, which in turn drives away the sellers.

Having said that there are lots of specialist sites eg. Fine wine, art, philately which thrive. But they all offer rare quality stuff.

I wouldn’t say that a 2nd hand bike/parts auction site wouldn’t work, but remember you’d have to offer something that eby doesn’t offer, and as time goes by they sharpen up their act.

    Difficult competition.

richpips, you are being a C@ck

    Err no.

    Where is the evidence?

    I can’t see it.

Or shall we lynch “Low Cost Solutions” on the basis that he takes crap pictures, and happens to being selling something that resembles something that the OP once owned ? In a city of C 400,00 people.

There have been others most noticeably QXL.

Though the bottom line is where will you get the most for your product, where lots look, or just a few. That’s why the king is king.

    Nope.

So, how long was your steerer ?

Have you emailed to find out how long his is?

Where’s the rest of the bike, or does he specialise in just stealing forks and one pair of disc brakes?

He says you are welcome to collect from him.

Have you a bedside chair fixation?

    Have you been eating mushrooms?

I did once get paid twice for something.

I politely returned the second payment saying that someone had beat them too it. I don’t recall any hard feelings.

The thing that spoils the “dibs” system is that there are too many people who think that it’s OK to mess one about. Certainly a minority, but still people who either haven’t got the money or the ability to get it to the seller in a timely manner.

It would be a bit stupid to sell stolen forks with distinguishing marks.

    Now you’ve lost me.

He is selling a pair of forks which are the same make and model as the ones you had stolen and therefore they the same ones?

Surely, as andym says some ‘dibs’ system is needed.

I’ve lost count of the number of times people say they will have something, then I’ve been polite and waited and waited, before emailing them to a) get blanked or b) for them to say hey are no longer interested.

    dibs means squat.

However money in my paypal account means it’s sold.

You could use a graduated filter on the lens.

Or take two shots, one exposed for the sky, and one for the landscape and merge the two.

    Off camera flash

    Coming back to the OP.

I’d look at an off camera flash set up where you could use eg Vivitar 285hv and a phottix radio remote trigger. Which would allow a more creative use of the flash light.

You should get that lot for under £100 on that auction site.

I’m objecting to companies like Nikon making their new cams only compatible with a whole new range of flash equipment. No reason for this.

You mean like shimano/campag/sram making 9 speed groupsets that only work with 9 speed components, not 8,7 or 6………..

Is it bollocks. It’s called ‘let’s squeeze as much money as we can, from our gullible customers’.

Sorry I don’t recall any flashes from back in the day that use i-TTL, which for modern camera users offers automated lighting for most situations. I could go on and list a whole other heap of features that modern flashguns offer over old guns.

That isn’t to say that all old guns are rubbish, they aren’t, but they are certainly not as versatile.

That’s the bloody trouble with dijical; you’ve got to get specific dedicated bits, as older stuff dun’t work.

    No that’s called progress.

Did you take the photo? I hope you helped her out if you did, that’s not a nice situation to be in, even if it is self induced.

He bought her the drinks just so he could get the shot.

A good deal of older flash guns have a much higher trigger voltage than modern one.

Basically that means that an old flash gun can fry your new DSLR.
