I have a pic similar to Juan’s (idea copied from one posted by richpips), but I’m so hairy the effect is spoiled

Paypal gives a perceived protection to the buyer, this will push your auction price up.

As a seller ime you have little to fear if you describe your stuff accurately. Yes I’ve had chargebacks, but I’ve either got the money back from insurance from the courier, or received the item back. All part of doing business.

As for fees, ebay + paypal are still cheaper than going to a reputable high street auction house. Plus unless you’re talking specialist areas like fine art etc. you’ll get less than you would on ebay.

I very much doubt you’ll be disappointed. Good articles and great photography.

My inlaws have had slate down for ~20 years.

Observations. It is cold underfoot. They had it coated, as slate will stain. Over time the coating chips. High traffic areas have worn the slate smooth.

I hate walking round their house in socks even in summer it’s cold on the toes.

and bearing in mind the side issue of the involvement of Grand designs – do you think they would really want the house to have to be knocked down as a result of their cockup?

In my experience albeit not in your area. If they thought a mistake had been made, even on their part, they would rectify it ie. knock the house down. I would have thought that due to GD’s partaking, that they would have their senior bods give it the once over to make sure that they made the right decisions. Especially once it went to appeal.

    @NeighboursInTheWoods

Well you obviously know more than we about the planning details of the house.

I don’t understand why you think it’s in the council’s interest to allow a house that doesn’t meet their planning criteria? Surely that would set a precedent in the area.

Depends what you’re prepared to cart about in weight, and how much you’re prepared to spend.

The Canon 17-85mm f/4 – 5.6 IS is a good lens, loads better than the kit lens. ~£200 SH and not too heavy.

The Canon 24-105 f/4L is an excellent lens, better than the above, but with a SH price over £600. It’s heavy too.

I’ve had them a couple of times

Both times coincided with a rapid increase in mileage.

I believe the maxim is increase your mileage by no more than 10% per week.

I followed that, and haven’t had them since.

    So £60 + £20 + airfare.

If there’s 2 or more of you drive, surely cheaper.

(Presuming the Alps was your destination)

I also think I should ride there first before entering a race, it sounds very technical!

Nowt particularly technical that I saw.

Rich – I can’t be bothered with the mud either, but if I keep entering them all, maybe one day I’ll get to ride a dry one.

That’s what I thought last year, and the year before……

Tokina 12-24mm AT-X 124 PRO DX II gets good reviews.

I’ve got their 10-17 fisheye and it’s great. Solid quality.

The sigma 10-20mm I had for a while didn’t focus properly. Not uncommon it seems.

Richpipps, you do like taking pics of yourself! Do you have framed pics round your house as well?

I think there is an old 4″x5″ picture that my wife likes upstairs. As to taking pictures of myself, yes why not. Out of over 1000 shots on my flickr 25 include me as subject. One of which is my most viewed picture.

I do prefer taking pictures of other things, including STW girls though.

I wouldn’t have wanted to build my dream house anywhere near that pink monstrosity, and it is quite close. But I bet they’re miffed at losing the nice view too.

Ours were ill when they were younger, seem to have grown out of it now.

We used to have a bowl to hand on longer journeys, so at least it didn’t go everywhere.

The fact is “would you wouldn’t you” is immaterial as a) She’s probably either married or b) has a selection of wealthy attractive men she could take full advantage of, so you wouldn’t be in with a chance anyway
