There was a similar thread earlier in the week. Consensus seemed to be G9 10 or 11 depending on budget.

As above, you can film anyone as long as you have permission from the landowner, or there isn't a byelaw expressly prohibiting it.

Having said that if a film / photo shows someone in an uncompromising position, one can be sued for defamation.

i wouldn't do that. 4 pieces of feedback is nothing

If he's only got 4 pieces of feedback, paypal will withold his funds until the buyer leaves positive feedback.

It's the trade day today, so presumably whoever halfed it has some link to the industry, and therefore, it's not impossible that they won't read this.

Lee was developed (IIRC) simply because it was vacant land owned by Lancashire CC, not specifically because it was a great place to build trails.

Vacant land being the operative words. To get any landowner to offer the use of their land, unless they are particularly benevolent, there has to something in it for them. Lancs CC had no other use for the land, so they've developed/allowed trail development, which in their case has provided them kudos for creating a local amenity.

you just need a landowner/s willing to let trails be developed on their property

True, but most off the centres that currently exist are on forestry land.

I guess there are a number of empty quarries where something similar to Lee Quarry could be done. Though as I said earlier it's not as if there isn't plenty of good riding here already.

Why we should need a purpose built trail centre in the Peak is beyond me. There are miles of great tracks if you know where to look, and if you go down the road of cheek, there are miles and miles more.

Snowslaves second pic shows part of one of the finest bits of riding I've done anywhere.

Anyway if you want a trail centre you'll need some forestry land, and there isn't a right lot of that round here.

My experience is that you can comfortably run the same on your 29er as on the 26" wheel even though it is a higher gear ratio.

So you make it 10% harder to push those pedals on a 29er. You must be lazy on your 26er.

Is anyone else starting to get a bit worried about the 8mph average speed?

    Nope, just you. :)

For those of us who have never ridden or walked up there, where can we find out about the definitive Jacobs Ladder? It sounds tremendously epic from the threads of this discussion and I'm intrigued.

    Buy August's MBR :)

Nick's cleaned the lot on more than one occasion, including one with Chipps iirc.

richpips – I don't think the bottom section is in doubt, that's the 'easy' bit (although as pointed out not as easy as it used to be). We need a video of someone cleaning the cobbled steep stepped bit at the top.

The bit captioned "Milner ruined lungs.." is taken as he crests the cobbles. Nick was quite able to start at the bottom of the top cobble climb a number of times for pics.

IMHO no matter how good a rider you are if you've got the stamina to do the lot, it's the bottom section still that is most likely to derail your dreams of making it to the top.

I was the photographer for that MBR article, and can say it was all done in sections by all three riders, After spending a number of hours sessioning the climb everyone was too tired to do it in one.

This vid shows Nick and Danny cleaning the bottom section for the doubters.

Thanks Jon, Sorry didn't make myself clear, I knew that. Just didn't get the connection with what a pre war games and a pre war athlete had to do with the UK's wartime leader and his trademark fag.

    OK.

Xc trails will be fine on a Cx bike, though maybe you won't be quite as quick dependent on overall technicality.
I do nothing more than 3 ft to flat really on any bike no problem doing that on a cross bike though.

for honouring an athlete whose name is synonomous with undermining the Nazi Arayan superiority concept, unless of course you are suggesting one or other is facist and/or racist in outlook?

Maybe our lot should have turned up with WC on their shoulders, and a Romeo y Julieta stuck behind their ear?
