richpips – the shop was on the main Stockport road, a few shops away from the post office.

Odd I hadn’t seen it then.

I didn’t even know a bike shop in Marple existed.

No suggestions other than perseverance. I helped a mate build up his Force equipped bike, and it took ages to thread the cables.

Hayfield, loads of nice walking but nowt else here.

The Packhorse does very good food though. The interior of which is mind blowing though.

Nowt much to do there unless going down one of the tourist caves is on the cards.

And most importantly of all, thanks in part to having a decent bike, she now loves riding bikes, which is something I wouldn’t put a price on.

That’s the bottom line for me. My boy’s last bike cost £380 and we’ve been out every weekend on it since I bought it, and have had some great rides. He loves his bike. Priceless.

There’s no way you can justify an expensive kid’s bike!
    They grow out of them.

If you’re child is into cycling and you can afford it, buy them a decent bike.

A lightweight bike makes a lot of difference to what they can do when they are little.

Plus check out ebay for 2nd hand prices on good kids stuff, the auction prices are within a few percent of brand new.

Even though I’m doing family dinner later in the day, I’m really looking forward to a long bike ride setting off first thing.

Spent many a Xmas in the past alpine climbing or up in Scotland on my own some of the best.

Hope you have a good one.

    Do the cleaning?

right, I’m gonna have a look and see what else I can sell instead!

Right answer, I’ve got rid of loads of bits an pieces recently which on their own have financed a bike.

If it was ~10 years older it might be worth sorting, for what it is even tidied up with near NOS stuff you wouldn’t get £200 for it.

Surely you can negotiate something in return for keeping it?

How many bikes do you have?

Saying he doesn’t accept returns means nothing if the item is not as described.

Normally you’ll end up paying the return postage though. If you return, make sure it’s signed for. :(

Blurb.com do them, don’t know if their’s a UK firm that does.

Dependant on the number of blog pages, a bit of cut and paste and a trad photobook might be the way forward if you’re wanting it before Xmas.

Contact the seller and you can both agree to cancel the sale, he gets his fees back and you don’t get the black mark.

Had it done to me, no hassles.

Well, you just ate in shit places then, really. I rarely have a bad meal “out”, and mainly because I like to choose a nice place to eat.

Cycling point to point 50+ miles a day unless it’s round London is unlikely to give “choices” luvvy.

Deffo worth it for me because 1 great meal >>> 10 shit takeaways.

Yes, I’d rather eat out once a year and pay rather than eat some of the stuff we’ve eaten in “restaurants” and “home cooked food pubs” this year.

In fact me and my lad did a trip last half term and ate out for four days and nights. Most of the food was cr_*_p.

My inlaws in their retirement have been doing the Michelin circuit.

They thoroughly enjoyed it there, different but still good.

We were bought back some of the sweets. Yummy.

But I couldn’t get the tobacco to light when I rolled it in a rizla.

I’ve got my eye on one of these next, not a toughie but a suitable case would still make it pocketable.

Pricey I know, but the best out there from a number of reviews, not just that oone.

If you’re carrying it in a bag then an interchangeable lens system is fine.

I had a GF1 and whilst it produced great results it needed a bag, too big for a pocket.

If you want something that’ll fit in a jersey pocket then look at the decent compacts.
