He obviously wasn’t trying hard enough if he had time to say all those words.

Really anal I know but I know this is going to be a struggle and want to minimise puncture risk. Got the Landcruisers. My existing inner tubes are Conti Cross 28, which are 25/35. Am I better going Conti Tour 28 which are 32/47, or something else, even latex?

    I’m putting 29er tubes in mine 47/52.

Isn’t the indexing related to the shifter rather than the mech?

10 speed shimano mtb stuff doesn’t have equal amounts of cable pull between each gear at the shifter end, and the mech design reflects that.

    As above, it won’t work.

yep – I’ve set up Landcruisers tubeless (on Stans Iron Cross) – running at 40psi they’ve been damn impressive, apart from their weight!

You’ll be wanting more air in than that for the descents. 40psi and you’ll get pinch flats.

Still no challengers to my fixed wheel record then?

    Awesome.

It’d be like taking candy from a baby. Next year maybe 😉

I’ve encountered a fair bit of this on ebay recently.

If you get the thing back fine refund, else tell her to FO.

My advise make sure you sleep well in the week before.

I never seem to get much sleep the night before doing 24hr events and can’t say I’ve ever felt yawning type tired during an event.

yes be consistent but dont think that you have to cycle at all costs, like if its pissing down, why not substitute that cycle for a run or if its snowing substitute that run for a spinning class or circuit class or home work out. it all helps

If it is raining or snowing ride your bike. Being a fit cyclist requires all year round commitment.

Me and my lad used the Hadrian’s Way cycleway to do a coast to coast, which is very quiet roads or offroad (though no gnarr).

Set yourself an attainable goal in distance/time.

Build up your rides in mileage towards that.

Mix up your rides. Longer steadier ones with shorter ones which focus on speed.

    Plenty of hills.

    Strava.

Imho riding anything less than 3 days a week with some structure, and your improvement will be slow.

I loaned Chipps Fargo for a while.

I felt it was cumbersome, and though it may be great with a heavy load, if you’re thinking of riding with any haste, I’d go for something else.

My wife and daughter had something similar when we visited Granada some years back. They spent 4 days mostly on the toilet.

Me and the boy enjoyed our trip to the Alhambra while they were ill though.

As ^^^^ make sure he drinks lots.

I know a couple of people round here have them. One aged, the other with health issues.

What would you prefer, them driving a car?

Oh, and 200W won’t get you many KOMs round these parts.

I have the old ones and wouldn’t describe them as harsh at all.

A couple of the spoke beds are cracking though. 🙁

I’ve got some Stans Alpha340 rims there are two spokes making a bid for freedom through the rims. I wouldn’t bother again.

I recall doing 120 miles solo earlier this year ~17mph. Most of the day was at 19mph but my wheels fell off as I didn’t eat enough towards the end.

Can’t think of a 30 mile figure, I tend to do intervals usually.

Moan about Strava segemnts all you like, but they help your top end, and therefore your average threshold.

I did a cafe ride with my boy today. The first ~25 miles were on busyish roads and stressful. The return journey on quiet roads was not.

Obviously it depends where you live and if you can choose the time of your ride. But road riding can definitely still be fun.

Renault have a common tendency to fail expensively after 3 yrs…

We bought ours with 22K on at three years old. It’s 10 years old now has 143K on the clock and has never been too expensive at MOT time.

Edit. Off for a ride now.

He was very aggresive and even squared up to me at one point.

What the hell is wrong with some people?

Someone maybe mistakenly sticking up for their kid.

Loads of easy stuff there. I rode with my kids there long before they could ride bikes independently.

The last time ours died I went on ebay and within 2 hours picked up another for less than £5 from 6 miles away.

It retailed for four figures back in the day.

£800 is tops you’d get in a private sale imho. Having bought and sold similar in the past.

I rode up from Coniston on my cross bike on Sunday. Only a couple of unrideable bits on the way up.

Down to Seathwaite all rideable to the gate, then as you near the road less so.

Oh yeah. That garden full of overweight, socially awkward, IT-working, t-shirt wearing bike g33ks is going to see him scared.

Shame he’s in Sussex. There are plenty of STW ninjas up here.

That works the other way as well. My wife has a friend with an eating disorder. When I first met her I just assumed she was a runner in good form.

Sadly it does. We know a fairly good runner also who didn’t (doesn’t) eat properly who broke her leg rolling over in bed. Word was she was suffering from malnutrition. She bakes cakes for anyone, never eats any, and earns loads of money so no excuses for foodage.

    🙁

Remember to change your wheels with the 35mm CX tyres for the ones with 23mm slicks before doing a 55 mile road ride.
