I bought this a couple of weeks back as a “bike” watch. Titanium, so nice and light on the wrist, water resistant and good lume. It looks much smaller on the wrist than the pics below suggest.

    Citizen BN0116-51X btw.

Is anyone tempted by the 10th anniversary Scurfa watches released tomorrow night?

I quite like the look of the green Diver One. Though lume on the bezel?

Bought this for dark nights. The indiglo is ace. The tick is LOUD though.

Next up my Orient Star Outdoor

I look at those a lot, mainly because I can’t decide between the black dial and the textured grey dial but I’d never realised the blue was that shiny so now I’m wondering if the black is the same.

What do you think of the watch?

I like it. Legibility without glasses is one of my main wants and it ticks that box. Good lume also.

There appears to be quite a choice of dials. I nearly went for a browny green before I remembered I’m not a prepper.

I’ve been watching this thread since the beginning.

Here’s my first contribution to it. :)

Mine and my son’s Scurfa. The one with red hands below is one of an edition made for staff on the Seven Kestrel diving vessel.

He’s 18 now and still occasionally comes out with me.

    So many happy memories though.

In fact I wrote a book about it all. :)

Rapha has just dropped me an email about some content for this year’s campaign.

I’ve not done it for a few years.

I may like Tony go on tour for a few days. Much more fun than riding on the roads round here.

Just looked at the weather forecast, and it is looking spot on.

The funded places rather than getting a place if that makes sense

Presumably you are aware of the ball park costs envolved? Without funding $80,0000 a year

Yep, I was wondering about the funding. Well out of our budget otherwise.

    Any further info appreciated. Thanks.

I took my son out of school loads for various cycling trips and did get called in once by the education authority for not being a responsible parent with regard to his education. I guess they are just following their rules.

Currently deciding which Oxford college to apply to next year.

I was about to book our pre and apres accommodation this afternoon.

I think I’ll hold off for now.

Ride somewhere traffic free like a disused railway or trail centre for starters. Riding with traffic with a small kid is hard work.

Lots of cake ice cream etc.

Oh and they can ride much further than you would think.

    Revelate Spinelock.

Waterproof. bombproof and does not swing about. The large is massive, get the smaller one.

For balance, I’ve been out every day on the bike since the 24th.

I’ve only done about 75km though, all on the MTB.

Looking forward to being able to get back to Mallorca next year!

If it’s on the road in July, you’ll have no problem doing those miles to get round in 14 days.

My advise would be to nail your kit and using it so that you aren’t wasting time that could be used for sleeping or riding.

    Thanks folks.

I’ve just added the Tour Divide map to the project. There will be a Highland Trail 550 map also soon.

    Thanks for all your pledges.

The target has been reached, so there will be a book.

    Keep ‘em coming though. :)

NBT – No we’ll let it run as though the book is written, it still needs laying out and printing.

On my way home today. Super icy conditions on Sunday. I took a number of falls. Bruising I can cope with, but one of my knees took a proper whack making it painful to push hard on the pedals or walk.
It was great while it lasted.

is it free to enter? I know some of the events need tickets but I wasn’t sure if everything needed booking

There’s usually some talks in the basecamp area that are free.

Tom and I are just over half way off the back of not much recent pedalling. It’s all starting to come good now though.

Having done a few now, I’d aim for an average of 10%, a fairly constant gradient, and a descent where you can just let the bike go.

Our last however ticked none of those boxes. ;)

On I’ve looked at near us is Chew Rd, though you’d have to borrow a key for the gate.

I think it was much tougher than people thought it was going to be.

Having seen the conditions I don’t mind that we didn’t get a place (though we did apply).

Proper smooth, and they’ve continued up towards South Head.

It all  seems to be done with local materials too.

The orange markers are the 2nd wave so Harold must be in the lead.
