Should be a strava route up.

Can’t find via the search thingy?

Based on my riding experience, if you know what/when/how to eat you can do long distance stuff off very little training, provided you’re just trying to finish not be competitive.

I can ride a bike for a long way. It’s low impact.

The furthest I seem to be able to run before my knees give up is ~40 miles.

I had one. It was good if the weather was warm. If it was cold and windy, the mostly midge net inner didn’t keep any warmth in.

    Roomy.

    No problems with condensation.

    Sturdy enough in winds.

This MM kit fails my value for money test (and that’s coming from someone who is happy to spend money on good kit), and obviously others will happily pay for it… Was just a bit surprised, that’s all.

A mayhem thread with moaning shocker.

    I’d take the HT.

Who took him to the wrong top on the way to Low Fell?

Probably Nic, he’s a top orienteer

Nic of our parish was running an early leg with him.

    An awesome record to attempt.

I’ve used ortlieb panniers, and also a bar bag. (45 litres capacity)

Total weight of that lot is 3.7Kg plus a rack.

All my equipment packed in drybags for the HTR was 4Kg. (~27 litres capacity)

I will say that if you were doing a long tour though then durability of good panniers may not be matched by lighter backpacking luggage.

I guess you could fit a short stem to the outer loop for the wire to wrap around?

Knowing some of the figures from a cycling cafe.

Choose your location well. Reliance on only cyclists during the week especially in winter is not a good idea.

Some cyclists will happily buy one coffee and then engage you in conversation for hours whilst nursing it.

I reckon a cafe that would make a reasonable amount of money would have to be quite large.

The 12 year old son of a mate of mine ran up £2700 in a weekend!

    Apple refunded the lot though.

camping on shores of Etive is in lots of trees

We camped there last summer. The midges were some of the worst I have ever encountered. Avoid.

Update from DCC rights of way officer.

After receiving your enquiry a site inspection has taken place and I can confirm that Public Footpath 7 is obstructed between its junction with Bridleway 5 & 6, as a result of a woodland planting scheme implemented by the PDNPA. I’m currently working with the National Park Authority to address matters and as soon as I have more information to offer, I’ll contact you again.

If you do go up past Loch Eilde to Luibeilt, don’t bother going left down to the head of Glen Nevis. It’s crap.

Don’t go right towards Loch Treig either, that’s crap too.

I wore them on the HTR to keep insects and muck out of my eyes.

They weren’t so clever in the rain, but I kept them on.

You asked for substance. If we don’t vote via a piece of paper what do you suggest?

If democracy doesn’t represent the people it’s not democracy. There needs to be more substance than putting an x on a bit of paper.

    Civil war?

There was a long list on our sheets, both I and my wife muttered wtf whilst scanning the list.

I’d not heard of the “Harmony” party. Another set of ctuns.

A lot of people run a dynamo setup that’ll charge phone, gps etc. You could manage fine with batteries though.

For the group ride we’ll all have Spot Trackers http://trackleaders.com/highland14

GPS tracklogs would be fine though as evidence.

As you say there are plenty of daylight hours for riding, though I’ll bet the fastest guys will do a bit of night riding.

I’ve seen the hub dynamo idea that’s out as I eckon too expensive.

None of the solutions I’ve seen are cheap.

Tbh if you just want to charge a phone, get a USB battery pack. I’ve got one that uses 6AA batteries and it’ll charge the phone twice from dead.

    News report below.

A friend who was in court said that his Tacho showed that he was doing 30ish when he hit him, slowed slightly, then sped up to 50mph.
