You can please yourself. I usually do a fair bit of off road.

if not, how do I then know when I’m getting fitter or losing fitness?

HRM alone can’t determine your fitness. Far better to have a set loop and time yourself round that.

You need to look hard to spot the bike.

    48 with a BMI of 19.

“You have a lower BMI than 99% of males aged 45-59 in your country”

“You’re most like someone from Bangladesh”

Can’t possibly make any profit with that sort of turnover?

    Gross is 72.6%.

They make a lot of their cakes etc.

I’ve never seen more than two paid staff there (one during the week)

Café turnover can’t be just £95k, surely? They always seem to have multiple people working – how on earth do they pay them???

Do you go there in the week, especially in winter?

    and for the cafe £95K

turnover, they want an extra £295K for the cafe freehold.

I’ll mail you something tomorrow Rob, not ridden round here for ages, though I’ll be doing so tomorrow.

You can get a 16-25 railcard, which saves a 1/3rd of ticket prices?

I’ll be renting to start, do most rentals include the rates?

    No, not usually.

Thanks for the advice guys, the genesis looks brilliant but it’s not out til next year

    September this year.

Worth thinking of whatever you choose is the total weight. Some of the above suggestions are hefty.

I looked at his twitter feed the other night. He’s still all over that cancer thing. Maybe if he says enough nice things about people with cancer we’ll forgive him.

Which reminds me I saw an email to a cancer survivor recently, suggesting Lance might come along on a ride next year and what did the recipient think.

I watched the Cycle Show tonight I can guess where Lance will be riding next year.

Here’s one from a guy who did the 140

    Impressive stuff.

Yep the cut offs for the 100 and 140 from Megeve are 9kph. It doesn’t sound much, but I bet that those big climbs would hack into that.

A mate told me about this last week.

I quite fancy trying the 140 next year. My French is rusty, but it looks like finishing is quite an acheivement.

Holme Moss is unchanged at the top http://www.strava.com/segments/1852591 though I guess they’d have been riding into the wind.

As Dan says, moving stuff this time of year is not a good idea.

If I set out down this route, then I’m going to be very, very, very, very vindictive indeed. i don’t really see the point otherwise

    What Bregante said.

I’ll add to that I’ve two friends this year, who courtesy of and accident and illness are unable now to ride their bikes even if they wanted to.

Nice blog !!! epic ride !! was there any point in meeting Alan???

We had a nice chat at the start. :D

Incidentally the police drove through the car park as we were getting ready, they saw us and drove off. We were obviously nothing out of the ordinary at 4am in Staveley.

Iirc the optimum time to take on food after exercise is straight away so that the calories you consume are used in refuelling, rather than using your body’s stores, which may account for some of your weight loss.

your cheating using metric measures ….Respect for that and nice blog pics as well.

    Thanks.

I’m not a fan of metric measurements either. The Lakeland 128 doesn’t have quite the ring to it does it. :)
