If you were so frustrated why didn’t you give her nudge in your Smart car or were you confused by a lady driving a 4wd testosterone machine?

Driving these days is all about taking the chill pill.

People do crazy things don’t get stressed.

Or as my twelve year old daughter says “pop a cap in their ass”

Haven’t personally done any of their events but we know Neil and he seems well-organised and professional.

Well I don’t now him. I can tell you that myself and at least one other person emailed him after he put a sportive on up this way as to when they were taking down the hundreds of arrows that they’d put up. The emails were ignored.

It’s the best part of a year since the event, and many are still there.

    That’s not professional.

I can tell you they are good at putting Sportive arrows up, and not taking them down after their event.

    A tandem you say?

I could get my dad to race with me…

Cool. See you both on the start line.

Can you make sure Tom doesn’t ride it though?

Sorry, we’ll be there on a tandem.

Also is it suitable for an incompetent rider?

There are some videos on vimeo and youtube. The course looks OK.

Quick question for you and anyone else that was soloing it, kit wise, do you try have a few changes and just swap every so often to try help keep warm or do you have one real good set up that’s comfortable enough to wear right through?

I take loads of spare kit. The only reason for changing would be if what I was wearing got soaked. I stayed dry so wore the same stuff straight through.

Rich – nice one, well done to your lad, that is great going. I guess he is going to be kicking all our asses up and down the singletrack in a few years

Thanks Nik, was hoping to see you there.

Hopefully catch up before next year.

A top weekend. Great to put faces to more names off of here. :-)

Thanks to all the riders who gave my boy encouragement.

Riding such stuff isn’t for all kids, but my lad loves it though.

There are no bothies on Kinder.

There is a cave near Kinder Low that you might spend an uncomfortable night in.

S of Sandy Heys there is a big overhanging rock that you could kip under.

    Neither are accessible by bike.

There is this place, but you’ll have to find it yourself, just like I did. ;)

Can he push for a partial refund.

No. Tell him to suck it up, or send it back.

They could have gone and soloed a route somewhere really cold.

It’s going to be slippy. Rest assured.

The only thing the various weather forecasts seem to agree on, is that it isn’t going to pour with rain for 24hrs. I’ll take that.

    Access for all. Ace.

The disabled access is a card I remember being played before. So they are going to make from the road to Mam Nick all passable for the disabled?

When the “campsite descent” was done in Hayfield I remember mention of disabled access. Sure the easy access bits that were cheap to do were done. The narrow sunken bit was left alone though, as it would have cost a load of money to do.

There are a number of FPs that are similar. Fix the easy bits, so it looks like they are being useful. Ignore the bits that are expensive to do.

If you were in an offroad wheelchair round here, you’d get pretty nifty at doing U-Turns as the improved BWs and FPs turn to impassable.

How tough are the soles on these Inov-8 trainers? what is the longevity of them?

Some are reasonably hard wearing, and some are made of cheese.

I had thought about either a basic Garmin Dakota or Etrex.

Yep either will do. They’ll store weeks of rides, not hours.

Lithium batteries are best. 2 sets will easily cover 40 hours.

The only time I’ve been told to get some clothes on by my family, was when I was walking round the house in just my leg warmers. :D

really? looks like a standard 8mm hex on the shaft.

While installation is incredibly straightforward, the pedals can only be removed with a special coded key held by the owner.

Not convinced by putting GPS trackers in them, needs to be somewhere hidden and subtle.

Why’s that? If you nick the bike you can’t take the off

You need a pedal unique spanner to remove them.

Training, get some longish rides in.

If you don’t already, do some core strength work.

    Take it nice and steady.

If you are breathing hard you are going to fast.

If a hill gets steep enough that you are working hard, get off and push.

richpips: What frame bag is that on the 2nd pic? I’m after something similar for my commuter, but most frame bags I’ve seen are far smaller than yours.

    It’s one I made myself.

The Lakeland 200 should be fairly easy over 3 days if you aren’t carrying your accomodation.

From Staveley, Eskdale night 1, Threlkeld night 2, and back to Staveley on day 3.

They’re different sports. There have been people who have majored in both who’ve made the crossover and done well.

For the non elite I’d say riding a bike for 24 hours is much easier.
