Had this problem last year, my FILs collection. About 100 albums. Luckily there’s a shop locally (where he had brought most of them) that had a look at them and made us an offer.

The problem is some of the stamps may be worth a reasonable amount, but would have taken us years to sort out, and the number of albums made it very difficult to take anywhere.

Very pleased with the outcome, and we got our spare bedroom back

62 here. Did a 10km race last year in about 44min. I keep a record of all my results so can say I’m getting slower at about 3min per decade.

I still feel ok, regularly commute 45km a day, just not as quick on the stop watch.

    Got very dusty watching that.

As cp says, used on Moon front lights from a few years ago (maybe still).
Just do a search on ‘moon cycle light spare battery’.

The LED battens I fitted a few weeks ago can be daisy chained together. The battens themselves didn’t need to be earthed, but they had earth connections so the earth could be ‘daisy chained’. I guess in case a light further down needed to be earthed. I wired them with twin and earth.
    I an not an electrician.

We VPN into the company, then Windows remote desktop to desktops running CAD. Works surprisingly well. I’ve also gone onto a third PC in the office from the second. Still works fine.

We’ve had our HP since Jan 2019, on InstantInk. It was the cheapest available in Tesco. Still works fine. Never had a blocked nozzle, never run out of ink.

    £1.49 for 10 pages a month.

    It just works.

It wasn’t as expensive as that.

Savings, no mortgage, and not spending much.

Don’t know about SSSI’s, but when we got ours it was very overgrown with hawthorn and brambles, plus loads of fallen trees. It was impossible to walk a lot of it until it was cleared, and there are some sections that need work, plus brambles keep coming back.

Ours is part ancient woodland part commercial, planted in the early 1950’s (we think), then left. So all the conifers weren’t thinned out and many are starting to die out, but this is good for the log burner!

‘Management’ now consists of cutting up fallen trees, clearing brambles and trying to plant new, native trees.

Don’t forget the cost, apart from the actual land. What’s access like, will you need a 4 wheel drive vehicle? Do you have a chainsaw and PPE? Add training as well.

Still love ours, but just need more time to spend there.

Managing woodland isn’t as easy as most people think.

20 acres is a lot if it’s just you and you only have weekends. We’ve had 3 acres for the last 12 years and I still haven’t got on top of it, but it was left unmanaged for about 50 years.

One bloke I see on the Cambridge guided busway isn’t hanging around. If it stopped suddenly he’s going to go flying. Which, I guess, is one of the reasons he’s wearing a full face helmet.

We found a golf trolley on one of our pub rides which was towed home. Made a bit of a noise given it was about midnight when we got back to our village.

I think Concorde was all controlled by analog computers, such as the air intakes, so controlling a motor should be easy. (I am not an electronic engineer).

Timer only needs to be on for an hour a day, if that. We used to have the same set up and it turned on 30 minutes in the morning, the same late afternoon.

I think it’s very wrong to assume any item of bathroom kit is designed with anything other than visual appeal in mind. Hence why modern crappers don’t do the one thing they should be designed to do, namely collect poo under the water and remove it when flushed, without leaving a significant amount to be manually brushed away.

Overflows that don’t is just another example.

On One are ok, but only wrap around, not completely sealed. Sealskin have a zip and are a struggle to get on.

I usually get a couple of winters from each pair. Overshoes work for me as I cycle to work and need to walk through the office to get to the shower. I can leave the wet, muddy overshoes on the bike and not leave a trail of mud on the carpet.

Get several sizes larger than your shoe size.

I recommend HP because their inkjet printers, IMO, are the best on the market. I can’t comment on how their software comperes to other makes as I don’t know enough about that. I’ve never had a problem with the hardware, and the instant print option makes keeping it running easy.

Not sure what prompts the comment above about instant ink being terrible. Before it was an option everyone complained about the cost of ink. Instant ink eliminates that.

Regarding the cost of ink, obviously, the business plan of HP is to sell the hardware cheap and make money from the consumables, which is no different from many other companies. People don’t seem to understand how difficult ink jet printing is: all inkjet printers have more tech in them then most other items of IT. Look at how many patents HP have related to ink jet. All that R+D has to be paid for.

Yes, cheap HP from Tesco about 4 years ago with the ink on subscription. Zero problems.

Yes, if it has a fingerprint reader that will work, or a camera that Windows approves of. Or just a four digit PIN.

Could be some dust in the print head that’s moving around. Or an air bubble. Or damaged non wetting coating causing the face of the nozzle to flood.

    richmars

The nozzles are made in a very thin sheet of kapton which will be a transparent brown colour. They are very delicate and there will also be (probably) a non wetting coating applied to the kapton, which can be rubbed off. I would use a cotton wool bud and very gently wipe the surface of the kapton.

You will need to take the cartridge out of the printer to clean it

    richmars

I’d use water on a cotton bud if you’re going to try cleaning the heads. The ink is water based which is why it sticks to your hands.

So an HP will replace the print head when you get new ink, so should fix the problem, unless the interconnect between the head and rest of the printer is damaged, which I’ve never seen.

But given the cost of a new cartridge Vs a new printer it may be cheaper just to buy a new one, and sign up to the ink subscription plan.

I don’t think it was mentioned last night how much the plot was. I’m guessing that given the size, location and already having planning it wouldn’t be far off another million.

Specs aren’t unreasonable, which is why the uni will have a large room full of suitable PC’s. The son just wants to use it at home. Maybe he lives away from campus.

I would look at remote desktop (what with COVID this should be an option, but may be security issues) or the cloud version of SW. Which is a pain to set up but is better than nothing.

Or that laptop offered above .
