Ok, so can someone explain why my sons school (private) was the only school in the area to open on the last day of term last year, when all the state schools were shut?
    Same roads etc.

I think you need to decide if you want a single box to record TV and store DVD's etc. If you do then you're looking at a media PC. I've looked recently and I couldn't find a single box that did what I wanted (TV tuner, record off air, networked, media store) but I may have missed something.
For the last 4 years I've been using a Windows Media PC which is very good. It's networked so I can record from TV onto it's hard drive and play back on a lap top anywhere in the house. It's just getting a bit slow now so can't cope with hi def, so I've just replaced it with a new motherboard, a single core Atom but with the Ion graphics chip, which can cope with all the hi def stuff. This is a small mini itx board, with no fans so the only noise is the hard drive, which is nothing.
I'm currently trying mythTV (which is free) which is a linux version of Windows Media Centre.
    This is the motherboard.

I just don't understand where he's come from. How can someone that lacking in any positive attribute get so much exposure. Who puts these people on the TV? Am I so out of touch with 'modern' culture?

I get migraines but also love dark chocolate so, for me, I don't think there's a link. I eat 70% dark chocolate every day but get migraines maybe once a month.
(But on migraines, I know the signs of one coming, so I can take extra strong pain killers so only feel odd for an hour or so, instead of wiped out for 12 hours. It's possible mine are not full blown migraines but still no coorelation to chocolate.)

    4th'ed.
Installed it on 3 pc's. All ok so far, plus lots of help (if needed) on the internet.

For Windows, look in Control Panel or the set up for the graphics card. It should say how you want to use twin monitors (if you can). If it doesn't you likely have one that just drives a single monitor.

Yes, just check your existing card can't drive two first.

No, not you, missed/crossed post plus reading them too quickly! I think we are both saying the same.

By that argument why not just make a 1000 copies on CD and sell each one? Because it's illegal. You have one copy (now on your PC). The CD doesn't really exist, hence you can't sell it.
    (I think.)

Is it cold or damp in the shed office? Could be condensation on the pcb. If it is you could try warming it up.

I don't think you can post in this thread unless you also say what bands you DO rate.

How is it legal? Surely there are now two copies, owned by different people, yet the rights owner has only been paid once.

Just for interest, and not to accuse anyone of anything, but is it legal to sell the cd's and keep the tracks?

Yes, looks like roofing felt on the inside. Next time I'll up I'll try and increase the gaps in the eaves. Cheers.

The best AV seems to change fairly regularly. I've used (free)AVG for years with no problems.

No header tank in the loft, just water tank. I'm more concerned about long term damage than damp 'junk'.
Thanks for the replies so far.

Yes, when I moved here the insulation was stuffed right into the eaves and it was soaking all the time. I cleared the insulation back which stopped it but either it's come back or I'm just noticing something that always happens in cold (and still) periods.

Sorry to hear the news. The same thing happened to me this time last year, just before Christmas. As you say, once they decide on the names, the scoring is just fixed to get the result they want, regardless of your skills.
The one positive note is that the job market (at least in my area) is better this year then it was last year. Also, both times this has happen to me I've ending up doing something more enjoyable.
All the best for the new year.

No, the reason the banks want to get rid of them is cost.

As I was trying to point out, compared to some of the things suggested as replacement, they are.

Cash isn't the issue here. They're talking about getting rid of cheques and replacing them with 'something else'. If that something else is based on some electronic kit, like a smart phone (that has been mentioned), it won't, in my opinion, be as robust as a cheque.

Robust and reliable in that they don't need batteries, software etc. You can put them in your pocket and not worry about damaging them when you sit on them. Give me your iphone (or whatever) and we'll see which is more robust.

I'm not so sure there'll be a better system. Pen and paper are a pretty robust, compact, reliable combination. How will you sent money in the post to your grandchildren? And don't say by mobile phones, because in 2018 they still won't be used by everyone.

What I do is keep the letter specific to the job you're applying to, and keep the CV fairly general (but you should tweek that as well for some applications). There's no point repeating yourself so I just say what particular skills I have that would apply to the job.

Roger Musson's Wheel Building Guide, here shows how to make one in wood. Well worth the £9 for the book.

Used to go with a few mates, less so this year. Always saw other riders heading off into the woods, some large groups. Thursday seemed to be the night last year. (This is from the free Brandon car park, not High Lodge.)
Also been a few times on my own, but too much of a wimp now (it's the mad axeman thing)

I second using OpenDNS. It logs every site visited, plus you can block what you want. May be hard to set up if you're not into computers but worth the effect (esp. if you don't have a fixed IP address).

3 months isn't long enough to get any better rates than what you have now, so I would have a punt at premium bonds. Worse case you don't win and you may be lucky, just check when you buy them, you may miss a months drew so only be in for one.

Helicoil not strong? Aren't they used to replace striped spark plug threads?
Using an insert means drilling out a larger hole which may result in an overall weaker solution if the hole is close to the edge of the material. If this is ok insert will be better but helicoil should be ok.
