Rode 32:16 yesterday with a mate who rode 32:17 and we passed considerably more people than passed us on the downs link. The only bit we had to walk was the loose bit of the last climb. If I were to SS it again then I would run the same gearing. We stopped for lunch halfways along the downs link which broke it up nicely.

So on a SS, the ideal gearing would be …?

So if ‘someone’ was planning on SS’ing this, what gearing would be best ? Lower than 32:16 ?

OEM. Have now bought batteries for two different laptops and both were via ebuyers and as you say, half the price. One word, CRAP. They are fine to start with but before too long you will get an hour from them.

Chris, get your @rse out there and run next week like you mean it. Call it a bad week and crack on. Volunteer when you are injured as you won’t get quicker by not running.

Good luck, I’ll be checking your time

If I go back to the doc and ask for a bone density scan am I going to look like a bit of a hypochondriac ? or should he have considered that already based on the fact that my leg broke without any prior pain or problems whilst running in a straight line ? I’m not so much worried about the fact that my leg broke, but more the fact that if it happens again I am going to have major problems at work as I need to drive every day.

:D Nope, not pregnant. Not an armchair doctor either !! Doc gave me a website to look up fracture recovery when I saw him last (patient.co.uk) so had a look on there when I came back today.

I had the same thought a few weeks ago. Clearly they didnt. Over 4k for a family of four all inclusive.

17.23 would have won ours this week by 2 seconds from a field of 275 runners.

Bloody Hell, some quick times going on here now. Finbar, was that a winning time or where did you come ?

Emsz, well done, pretty impressive time for a girlie  was that a PB ? Any of you do Duathlons ? Is running a second sport to MTBing ?

Well done Chris, nice feeling to run sub 21 :D

I’ve broken my leg running a half marathon a couple of weeks ago, 4 more weeks in a cast. Total of 3 months with no exercise and 6 months before ‘competetive’ exercise

21.21 I’m getting slower !! My work trip was to Singapore where it was over 30 degrees every day, too hot to run even though I tried so training took a knock. I’m running my first Half Marathon next Sunday so trying to get the some miles in at the moment.

Padded undershorts and vests are excellent
Cycling shorts are crap unless you have 2 legs of completley different sizes
    Socks great
Tops with a Zip, so so
    Padded tights, good
Gloves, worth the money, last a season then chuck them out.
Insulated bottles, NO !! All insulation (foam), no bottle

20.38 today, missed my PB by 4 seconds. Its hard to imagine running it 39 seconds quicker to get sub 20 when all you want to do is vomit and lie down on the wet grass after finishing :D

I was working that out last week too. Weekend in Glentress in May, work trip away for two weeks at the end of this month, weekend away with friends in April, away for a Bank Holiday weekend in May… You’ll have to volunteer to write the race report when you are away and get the volunteer points !! :D

20.54 and 7th in the points. 5 runs into our year and points leader has 500 points 8O.

Could be a bit wet tomorrow though. Good luck, 22 should be doable in a race atmosphere on the flat. Is it road or off road ?

Its a bummer when you get that close to your PB. 1 second faster on each K… I’ve matched my PB to the exact second before and spent the whole day in a foul mood, not that I take it seriously or anything, just a bit of cross training for the Bike !!

20.34 today, just had PB’s for the last 3 weeks in a row, well chuffed. doing a run midweek for the last 4 or 5 weeks seems to have helped. Also just bought a Garmin Foreruner 205 (always used a 205 Edge on the bike) I find this a great help as you know what your average pace is. 90 quid new from Amazon.

We tried to get a dog, Staffy was our first choice, but most of the rescue centres wouldn’t let us as we had kids and they couldnt guarantee the dogs history. I offered to sign a disclaimer but no good. It was the same in severals, RSPCA, Battersea in Windsor to name a few. It seeemed a shame that we couldn’t rescue one but could go to a breeder and pay hundereds and walk away with one. We eventually found a rescue centre that did let us take a dog as I just couldnt justify paying for one that I didn’t want to show or breed when so many needed re-homing. We didn’t get a Staffy in the end but my brother-in-law had one from a pup and it was great with kids. Hope you do manage to get one, they are lovely dogs and very gentle and good natured

Yep, done 25 runs now. Fantastic event, especially as its free. Fully timed event and is ‘all things to all men’ Guys at the front finishing in 16-17 minutes through to those at the back running in 45 minutes. All results on the website and sent by email and text after the run ends. My wife does it now and she would never entertain the idea of running previously, my two kids 9 & 12 both do it and we all want something different from it. I cant praise it enough and I am not easily pleased!! Chasing my PB has now become an obsession and its good cross training too. There are new runs starting all the time, Bexley started today, Newbury starts next Saturday.

Will ring and ask tomorrow, but have been told by someone who looked into it not before they’ve been out 6 months, they did the same with the Iphone 4 when it came out first from what I understand. Have tried a random dodgy geezer already, well 2 actualy, one cant do it, the other wants to take it away for two days…

Before a particulary hard ride I find a dozen oysters and seared asparagus are a wonderful starter.

I agree, but lay off the garlic.

Its an annual family Christmas do, and our turn to host, so absolutely no driving involved for once. Due to Manflu and a couple of other bugs on top, I’ve not had a beer for about 4 weeks, so ‘need’ is not dependancy related!!!
