went out for my first SS ride yesterday and although it was very hard going I kind of like it 🙂 I would start of with smaller rides to begin with to let your legs get used to it and the singlespeed conversion was cheap, £15 for the spacer and 18t cog and £15 for the single speed chain so not bad really ….give it a go ! by the way my frame has sliding drop outs so that helps loads .

    Hi Dave

I used to own a cotic soul and was very pleased with it's performance 🙂 the back end really does have a spring in it and I found it comfy when I went to north wales . My build had a set of 140mm bolt thr forks and although this was good for downhills it did wonder slightly up hill ( not much ) so with 120mm forks this would be perfect 🙂 I'm 5ft 10 and the medium was fine for me but bare in mind these frames are ment to be compact and chuckable which is exactly what they are like trust me , if you have any doubts phone cy at cotic he is very pleased to help , hope this helps

I have owned a spicy 5160, different bike I know and to tell the truth it was very hard going apart from pointing it down! on singletrack I was overtaken by hardtails which was embrassing but you could say I had the wrong tool for the job ! dont believe the hype as they say 🙂 best bike I have ever owned was a titus motolite that was rapid everywhere .

did'nt think about soapy water do you just soak the bead ??? seems like the bead of the tyre is not sitting to the edge of the rim , always in the centre of the rim ! thanks for tips

I had the same problem and was told the pads that come with the brakes are rubbish and don't last long so I changed them , also what made a massive change was puting goodridge hoses on them , in my experience it transformed the performance ….or might of been they just needed bleeding from the factory ? love them now nice feel to them 🙂

I owned a 08 carbon yeti 575 and found that it flexed so much that it gave up and snapped !!!! The carbon looked like a waver thin biscuit , also I found that it bobbed badly and I was been overtaken on the uphills by everyone even with propeal on !!!!! looked great but I think 575 of travel is way to much ? another classic example od media hype dont believe it , my titus motolite was better !!!
