I thought this thread last week was a brilliant idea, unfortunately my bike was not built, so I had to wait until this week, so on my bikes inaugural ride we went here.

The ‘Horse Monument’ at Farley Mount, Winchester

The Country Park is named after the famous monument to a horse, named “Beware Chalk Pit”, which carried its owner to a racing victory in 1734, a year after having fallen into a chalk pit whilst out fox-hunting
not particularly remote but very nice and part of our loop today.

i have a 2010 P7 19in it is a fantastic ride, it is a little heavy but never seem to notice it at all, climbs and descends brilliantly and is really confidence inspiring, it has a solid feeling in and out of corners at speed and accelerates like a much lighter bike. As others have said it is not the cheapest but it is certainly worth the money and is made in Britain too, just feels right all the time.

i believe it is called a pin-stripe, and is not cheap, i think it was standard on the fat chance yo-eddy’s, but you would need to check on retro-bike for that as definite fact.
however it is definitely one of the coolest paint jobs and very iconic.

wow, surely someone at the bike shop where he had the work done should have pointed out the utter stupidity of this venture?

i used both when i lived in France (Val d’isere, Tignes), the socks were much quicker to put on and gave you good grip in shallow and fresh snow, they have a carpet like texture that sticks to the snow/ice, however they were very easy to hole when there was no snow on the road, i.e.in a tunnel, pot hole, however unless you have ripped them all the way across they will still work. they are however not very good if you need to get up anything steep, they do seem to slip, especially if there was ice underneath. a good set of snow tyres is just as effective as the socks to be honest and give you pretty much as much grip as you would need. the chains whilst a hassle to put on, (gets easier with practice and make sure you know how to put them on before you go out, it’s very cold otherwise trying to learn in a dark layby) and will get you up anything and as long as you drive sensibly. when on tarmac they will be fine at slow speeds just don’t turn to quickly.
if you are going to be driving regularly in a lot of snow chains win, with snow tyres or socks for occasional usage in lighter non steep conditions.
    hope that helps

i was so disapointed by the lack of snow in eastleigh, especially as i had been told i could work from home due to the impending “bad weather”, i rebuilt my fork instead.very jealous of everyone who has 14in + of snow would be excellent!

it is not important, just wondered if anyone did one as it seems you can get just about anything else after-market and anodised, and with most of the new long travel forks having 15mm or Maxle lite systems that someone would be doing a coloured aftermarket kit by now.

on the hope website there is a video clips on how to do it,
the mechanic just pours the fluid in the brake, and squeezes the lever he has the tube and other stuuf, but as TJ said, bit of hose some sellotape, i use a coke bottle , but has the same effect.
useful to have some kitchen roll hanging around as well. just be careful when removing the olive as they can snap.

we put a clearview into our living room, £2000 for stove chimney lining and flue pots etc, absoloutley fantastic can't recomend it enough. the stove was £1000, kit was £500 and £500 fitting. well worth it and much more effecient than the fireplace it replaced.

ok so the one currently on the frame is 200mm i2i and 50mm stroke the one i have been offered is 200mm i2i with 57mm stroke , can i change or do i need to find a shock with a 50mm stroke?

    richen987
    Free Member

the shock is too far gone all the stanchions are worn and it does nopt move at all.
i have been offered a cheap rp3 which is the same i2i – 200mm- but it has 5inch travel, i don't know enough about full sus to know if this is going to be a massive problem i know you can run the front at 120mm so was wondering if you can do the sam e with the rear?

    richen987
    Free Member

    i believe it's a 25mm so repleacing a 4in shock woth a 5in shock with the same i2i

as a lot of people have already said i just wear glasses, clear if over cast and varying lenses depending on conditions,
however i wear monthly disposables mainly because they are cheaper, but having trialed dailies apart from the chuck them at hte end of the day did not notice any difference. tended to split them more often as they were a lot thinner than the monthlies.
most opticians will give you a weeks worth as a trial so give them a go and see how you get on with them.
