looking on the Genesis website the 20.5in frame is massive! has a 23.6in top tube.
thinking could get away with a 17.5 or the 19in one – what kind of heights etc are people who ride them?
Porter-Jamie – that looks smart in yellow,

not too bothered by weight, it’s singlespeed after all and mainly for winter/local riding.

wwaswas – looks nice, had not heard of them, shall have a look, like the idea of not be totally tied to gears.

Soma Rich – hi, i rode your GT in Lordswood once, was a nice bike and deceptively quick, unfortunately too expensive for me, only really looking for a frame as i have everything else i need in a 26in format.

Donk – didn’t know they were compulsery either, but guessed they would be by the previous pics in threads on here…….
    nice bike too.

pixlemix – i like the look of the inbreds for ss, seem to be a popular choice, sadly would need an 18 or 19in frame as 6ft!
green does look good for SS.

I think a 1.25in schwalbe city jet would also be the wrong tyre 😆

off now, see you all there, wrong tyres or not! and it looks liek the sun is coming out – better whip those mud x’s off as it will dry super quick up there ………. 😕

i wonder if any one else has an opinion on what tyre you might need……

worth starting a seperate thread maybe?

I can take a Wheel from the Scott, a brake from the Kona, the frame and bits from the Carver and use my magic to make a complete fekin shambles. What’s the worst that could happen?

In no way at all am i slightly dubious about our proposed bike swap this Thursday evening now 😕

let me know if you need me to bring any bits up with me ………

i bought some from Rose a month ago, cost around £75 with adaptors and postage (no discs), they are really good brakes for the money, they are not quite as good as my XT’s but they are not far off, one finger braking and very predictable. imo best value for money brake.

good luck to him, just doing it one way was challenging enough, shall watch with interest and hope he achieves it.

Thats areal shame, there were some good trails up there and alot of work had gone in to i t,
has it been wholesale destruction of all the built trails or just the main ones in the middle?
A quick search of theforum history shows that this happenned a couple of years ago as well,

    http://singletrackworld.com/forum/topic/lordswood-southampton-the-forestry-commissions-response

I guess When they get too many trails they feel they have to do somthing to remove the “danger”
seems from there previous response you will get something similar if you contacted them to ask the reasons.
Real shame tho really enjoy riding Lordswood.

Carlphillips – did you use them then or did you get fox ones? If you did use them did they work?
    Khanis obviously did the job.
Not fussed either way as they are the same price, just wondering if hey were actually any better.
Cannot believe that a wiper seal costs so much.
Still seems to be the same for every fork manafacturer.
    Cheers

    yes, see you there.
Will probably be going out earlier (as no riding on the weekend) so if anyone wants to do a bit more then i am happy to meet up beforehand for an extra hours riding.

you can ride pretty much all of it, however, not a great deal of it is fun to ride.
i used to ride the Eastleigh to Winchester section daily as my commute (better than the roads).
The Winchester part is nice, well maintained – plenty of gates to open and close tho, the Eastleigh section is quite overgrown unless they have cut it (approx twice a year) beyond Eastleigh down to the coast it goes under the M3 round the back of the airport a bit dull, and overgrown, it is not a great ride to be honest.

IMHO it is a much nicer walk from Winchester down to the pub in Shawford a pint/lunch and back again.
or as a good commutting route as it is flat and quick.
if it has been raining some parts do flood.

Yes, should be good, rode it last saturday to check it out, was a bit sticky in places but hopefully the wind and lack of rain will have dried it all out by now.
Should be good fun. See you. All there

I believe they are from the same video, have no idea if he landed that scrubbage jump looks like he is hitting the landing going sideways.
Pretty impressive to take off almost horizontally as well.

I believe the Mavic Stratos are £80(rrp) cheaper online, and they are unlined too.
    Not just POC.
Imo buying full price mtb shorts is silly money for what you get.

+1 for Salsa clamp, I have been using the same one for 4yrs on two different bikes still works as good as the day I bought it, and that was secondhand, few scrapes but just keeps on working. A genuine piece of good kit.

Agreed, much more useful to have the cage especially if it is wet as there is a bit more surface to put your foot on. Also more comfortable with trAiners if your just out for 5 mins or popping out when you dont want to wear spd shoes

i am not sure i have ever seen less value for money on a bike especially as the frame can be had for £480
