this did pique my interest till i realised it was 700 miles away from home!

still pretty cool, post pics and route if you do do it as it would be really interesting.

    Hope it’s a good ride

just had mine done (61 plate GT) at local garage (not VW) £198. had various quotes between 180-340

    so seems reasonable

When this happened on mine a while back, I was left staring at a very expensive singlespeed, took everything apart and cleaned all connectors.

It wasn’t until I disconnected the battery from the system then re-plugged it in that it started working again.

    Hope that helps.

2nd hand, my bikes were nicked 2 weeks before 24/12 so was in a bit of a pickle.

£1100 got me carbon specialized stumpjumper, Fox kashima fit 4 forks , I think 2015/16 model

some great bargains out there to be had, seemingly loads of mediums as well as I struggled to find a large

getting anywhere near similar spec new was crazy money, a grand gets you very little on a new bike these days

for example this – slightly older frame but carbon wheels, 2016 factory fox fork xt etc etc

Did it with a mate at the beginning of last month, we used hardtails, we both agreed we definitely wouldn’t want to do it on a gravel bike.

The descents are quite long and rocky in places, as someone above has said, it’s not worth it for the savings.

A chunky fast rolling tyre on is the way forward

If you are on this side of Southampton it is worth checking your security, I don’t think they were opportunistic as they had disabled the security lights and we have the door on a motion alarm.

    So not totally stupid.

Have now ordered gates and cctv, which is a bit the horse has bolted, but should help with new bike security.

They’re not grabby Matt, they just work 😃

have them double locked and chained to a running machine that’s bolted to the floor.

I am on the M27 side of Southampton, basset green road.

Having asked around apprently been at least 8-10 garages on the estate done in last week. So obviously targeting th area.

wouldnt take a genius to work out I have bikes as I rode to work a coup of days a week and 2 night a week as well.

Thanks for all the replies much appreciated

    Thanks, Appreciate it.

yes we have had a load around us, had taken extra precautions but still got in.

apprently crime rate has soared recently due to a lot of police being in Basingstoke and going to help out in London.

No, your contact lens prescription should be slightly weaker as the lens sits on your eye.

    glasses are slightly stronger.

my contacts are 0.5 weaker than my glasses prescription

so -6.0 for glasses but -5.5 for contacts

most online opticians will require a correct glasses prescription for lenses (if they’re any good)

Have been running sram 10-42 cassette and chain on xt  di2, not a problem , plus seem to get a better chainline from the xd cassette than on the Shimano one I was running.

Thomson trail, 780, 10mm rise I find them super coming from a flat bar.

Swapped from Shimano to magura mt4 then mt6.
Really like them plenty powerful .
One finger breaking is not a problem.
The lever is quite chunky compared to a Shimano lever so that take a little getting used to.
    But they feel really nice.
They also come with tons of spare barbs, olives and bolts as well as fluid etc. If you buy new.
The lever body is quite big so don’t sit as nicely with the shifters as Shimano do but it just takes a little more fiddling.

i had similar with mine, mt6, had to swap them round to get the feel right.
i have moved to di2, so have a set of adaptors if you want them, drop me an email and i’ll sort them out.

Sorry my bad, thought they were moving this year to stop them doing the same lines.
    Bummer

It’s going to be nice to see them doing new lines in a new location, puts everyone on the same boat having to start from scratch.
Rather than guys who have been 2-3 time adding to existing lines.
Should be good and weather is looking good as well

Friend has just built up a surly straggler with 105 groupset etc with 650b .
It looks amazing and rides very nicely .
    Beautiful mint geeen colour.
He did it for around 1100, he had the wheels though.
But should easily come in under 1500 I would have thought

I live in just outside Southampton, but train station at bottom of hill, 10mins to Winch on train, about £3.50.
more than welcome to leave your car at mine for the weekend if you get stuck otherwise.
    cheers

If your near Southampton I can lend you a wildcat seat harness to put your tapered bag in .
Otherwise one of the guys who rides with us uses a combo of Velcro straps and a bungee to attach to rear seat rails and post.

I feel that’s a nice idea in theory, but I just don’t think they will spend the necessary money to do it properly or upkeep it.
As said above the Ashurst Lyndhurst cyclepath was a disaster when put in and that’s a relatively short stretch compared to say Hyde or Applemore over to Lymington.
And I can’t see Beaulieu being to open to allowing people to build cycle paths through their land.
Potentially just taking a more relaxed view of people riding in the forest and only enforcing it in the SSI areas might help.
I don’t see enough people cycling in the forest for them to make it a priority.

filled it in, to be honest as a regular user of the forest, I hardly ever see anyone beyond a mile of a car park.
They should focus their resources on making these areas resilient to plebs and then spend the rest of the money on an observatory, wild camp sites and getting kids into the forest.

thought so, do they do a hub for bolt through frames or is a rolloff or nothing?
or are there any other options a all?

I would second a Pyga 110/29, really is a great bike.

Picked up my frame for around £450, they pop up every now and then.
if your down South, more than welcome to swing a leg over mine.

As an aside the 2nd gen frames have internal dropping routing, which gen 1 frames don’t have, in case you have an internal dropper already, may need to factor that in.

i feel that you should point your security camera to your “studio area’ set it up on motion capture and then you could just upload the footage, or set it up on a live stream!

again top work, makes working so much more fun when your threads pop up. look forward to seeing it on Thursday 😀

Hi FM, been ages where have you been?
    hope all well.

anyway, sent a frame 2 weeks ago via Parcel Force, used the Extra Large option, you get up to a 30kg weight limit and up to 2.5m length option, so even for a cack handed wrapper you can post a full size bike box.

I had up to 10kg and I was less than £30 with £250 compensation, they have 10% off at the moment,
That was fully tracked online as well on a 48 hour shipment.

Admittedly they took an extra day but i got £7.50 back as compensation 🙂

Anyway you should pop out for a pootle if your about, we do 1 night a month in the forest at the moment to mix it up a bit.
    take care catch you soon.
