So the ipad is undeniably a luxury item then? Great. Maybe if Apple told us that in the adverts, people wouldn’t start threads like these

    Apple iPad – reassuringly expensive?

Perhaps the fact that Apple are selling them faster than they can make them demonstrates that if anything they’ve priced them slightly too low…

My mate has some Belkin thing that plugs into a cigarette lighter and autotunes to a vacant frequency that seemed pretty good. Seen ’em in Tesco’s. I gave in and got a Dension kit for about a hundred which is great but not portable between vehicles

I’m always bemused by these threads. I always wonder if the OP spends his time wandering around Ferrari garages complaining because they’re more expensive than a Mondeo and the Mondeo has a bigger boot. Surely one of the first criteria for whether a product is suitable for you is value for money vs the criteria that are important to you. In this case the OP made the decision that, for him, and his requirement that equation doesn’t stack up.

I had the same dilemma earlier regarding a Sunseeker Predator… But didn’t think it worth coming on here to bitch about the company’s pricing policy.

Feeling a bit daft yet OP?

She went in the kebab shop on the way home from the running club, in shorts, in front of various old Pakistani fellas, and ordered, in Urdu.

How did that go down with the Turkish owner?

Always SR71 for me. Read somewhere about crew setting a couple of speed records – just because – on its retirement flight.

For looks I always used to like F16. Just a nicer looking plane than F15 and F18 of similar period

Saw Typhoon in action at this year’s Moto GP and that thing was impressive

I picked one up at 45k miles and added 65k miles to it. Great little car. I had 1.4tdi fabulous economy and thanks to aluminium body surprisingly nippy

Speaking from a position of general ignorance but brother has just had a P7 with ISCG(?) mount on it. Is that what's required for HS?

What TJ said – smooth tyres and a rack. If you can lock out the fork that would be a bonus but not worth spending cash on.

at last someone acknowleges the stigma involved in riding a road bike…

79 posts on great sporting bell ends and no mention of Kyle Lafferty? I can only assume the discussion went off-topic…

I thought there'd be a couple of votes for a crying Manxman. Must have been rehabilitated in the eyes of the STW massive

Get someone that knows what they seedling to do a skim of cement or concrete for you. Our builders hadn't built floor up enough in utility so added a skim on top. Worked fine

    where did you find it?
In the car park of your work place? Do you deal with sensitive information on your pc/laptop and did a full virus sweep for key logging/trojans etc?

I'm only going from the thread where Sharki went walkabout but I got the feeling that he doesn't work at GCHQ…

OP. You must have some monster thighs for that gear. I run 44:17 on the roadrat and occasionally mull over dropping a tooth off the back. My commute is up and over a steepish hill and I like to sprint from the lights so find 44:17 works for me

The OP sounds a bit 'rainman'. Probably upset at having his thoughts on public sector profligacy interrupted?

What's the significance of the season? Is this as an alternative to a full susser that comes out on dry sunny days?

Chill out on the 'light' and buy a Soul, enjoy it so much that you sell your susser and be accepted as a Prince amongst men by the rest of STW

Hope or Shimano for me. There always seems to be someone on here bitching about Avids. I'm happy to learn from other's experiences so have them in my 'don't buy' category along with fox forks

I think you're being a bit uncharitable – s/he has 100% history though doesn't seem to be able to get it across to generous friends and relatives that they're not really into cycling as they keep getting given bikes!

    Oh god my eyes!

I know that form follows function but I don't think I could cope with something that shonky looking on one of my bikes

Shame you had supplier issues, I had a green T and a Dickies base layer – both are great.

I still mostly think they look gash but that Paul's one is almost acceptable. Mmmm, ponders again going 1 x 9 on the Roadrat…..

The governmnet will find some way of either taking on the pensions or just sell RM for a nominal amount, just as a way of getting rid of a nationalised company, and handing it over to the private sector, for them to make a profit, via cost cutting and staff reductions.

sounds like just what the country needs :| maybe we could just let the private sector cherry pick the profitable bits too?

And there's science behind bar ends… I was really just agreeing with RID. Doesn't matter what the configuration of stem, bars etc is as long as you can get right position. What does make me laugh is all the followers binning their outdated, redundant risers and shopping for flat bars

Just buy the vertical drop out frame then you've got best of all worlds – especially if you are happy with running a tensioner

Got to laugh at everyone now wanting to run flat bars. Bar ends back in fashion by end of 2011?

Not able to offer a woman's perspective but if you can't choose a pair of suitable shorts for your missus then you obviously haven't spent enough quality time on the Assos website.

As for the other – shewee??

They're on my commuter because that's the bike I needed brakes for and I couldn't find anything else that was better VFM. Got annoyed by my V brakes so swapped for the SLX discs – more brake than is necessary, oh yes!

    richcc

Yes, yes you have. Got SLX, albeit only on commuter and they're good. Factor in needing an extortionately priced olive and insert for when you need to cut the hoses

Not sure where you are based but I'm sure someone (sideways, 18, swinnos?) could do you a nice Cotic Soul build for that. Everyone needs a bit of Soul in their lives

CountZero. Push the 'home' button twice quickly, bar appears at the bottom with all open apps on it. Hold finger on one to get them to wobble – 'delete' all that you want to close.

Looks like that shop has added itself to your 'only in an emergency list'. Risk is that it ends up on that list for everyone and goes bust. As Taxi25 aluded to – with shops it's survival of those that get it and add value

You've bought Fox Forks and are mechanically inept? You have heard that they need licking clean, taking apart and re-lubing with unicorn's tears every other ride to avoid voiding the warranty haven't you?

£20 for fitting sounds about right
