    Cafetierre or stove top Bialetti?

Someone I know experienced a very similar scenario. Coppers were more helpful. When he ‘won’ the auction and got the address the coppers went round but Sammy scrote was clever enough not to have the bike on the premises. Nothing the BiB could do.

We went, pretty soon after it opened. Seemed like we had the place to ourselves. Very nice but pool is virtually off site and not at the centre. Assume this was a condition of planning so locals could use it. Bit hilly, take your bikes and have a great time

    Lodges are fantastic. Really nice

Interesting idea but have you thought of just reporting them?

Forgot – The Hudson at the top of Walcott Street does great food but not sure it’s open Sunday lunch and more steaks and the like than roast dinner.

I’m not sure about comments above. I tore gastroc muscle in calf playing squash. Felt like someone had punched me with a knuckle out like a dead leg. Really hurt. I’d get to a sports physio if I were you as that was where I got best advice on the injury and a programme of rehab

Henry Burton’s museum of cycling. I might just go in and ask to buy that shark fin one day just to see if it’s really for sale!

I’m with Madonna on this one “staying in and eating out”. If I ever happened to be looking myself i’d also be tempted to try the “clean shaven man seeks clean shaven woman” line

All this fashion stuff is not the problem. The OP let themselves down and the rest of the class down by not warning the link went to the DM website – the modern equivalent of Rickrolling.

I had a BB7 on the roadrat and worked ok. I think they are a good solution for some applications. Big problem is you can get (say) an SLX lever, hose and caliper for a similar price

Flat bar Cotic roadrat singlespeed. Slicks and mudguards are the magic ingredients.

Cookeaa – I really like the idea of that SA two speed but spacing is to small for my roadrat frame without faffing about with cold setting

Have Candies on commuter and mountain bike. Work fine and mean you can use ‘sensible shoes’ (and I don’t mean that in a lesbian sense) for the commute. I’ve done an occasional commute on proper roadbike spd-sl pedals and carbon sole road shoes and had a few near death experiences trying to clip in when getting away at junctions and roundabouts

I had a vague notion of sticking a Sturmey Archer S2C two speed hub on mine but think I’d have to cold set the frame to reduce the spacing of the rear drop outs and I’m a bit scared of that idea.

I’ve got a SS (42:17) long with flat bars. Think mine must be a medium. I’m about 5’10”. Use mine for 25 mile round trip commute. Find it comfy and fast enough. Commute is generally all road, though occasionally incorporate a bit of towpath. I use 25mm conti gatorskins and get on with them pretty well. Upgraded mine from v brakes to SLX discs and added sks mudguards. Seems to suit me fine for my kind of riding

How about 1×9 on roadbike?? Thinking about sticking a roadie cassette on the roadrat with a roadie mech. Is some monstrosity at the front still advisable or am I likely to get away with it?

I took v brakes off the roadrat commuter and put SLX discs on it. Big improvement for commuting – better control and power, work in wet and dry, maintenance free and don’t eat pads or rims. I think the key phrase here is ‘Sunday Best’. If I had the money/space for a Sunday Best roadbike then it’s going to be something wispy in silk and lace not M & S cotton. Sexy little roadie calipers are more Sunday Best than more practical machine washable disks.

IA. I’ve just bought a Draytek 2710n. Don’t think it’s gigabit switch but a great bit of kit if they do a giga version

Not sure about this but there’s probably a torque bar (not sure of correct term ) that goes from hub to a chainstay. If you disconnect that connection somehow I think you’ll disable the coaster brake. Make sure you do it tidily so nothing can jam as she’s riding

I’ve been tempted by Sturmney Archer S2C hub which has a kick back activated 2 sPeed gear and a pedal back brake for the commuter. Downside is it’s going to cost £160 or so to build into a wheel and seems heavy. Still tempted though

Kind of tangential but I heard an interesting piece on the radio regarding the lag between spending and seeing social benefits. Ie labour govt spends money on Sure Start centres. Tories axe them when next in govt ‘cos they can’t see results. Results come through after a few years and Tories get to say how well giving people no support has worked out. Really the inverse of financial boom and bust is societal boom and bust

Bugaboo Chameleon. Expensive but easy to push and folded smallest of pushchairs we tried. Will probably get decent proportion back when we sell it on. If there’s a John Lewis near you go there for sensible advice and they’ll bring it to car park so you can try to fit it in boot

I proposed in Central Park and then we went to Tiffany. 4k is more than enough to get past the first cabinet! Top tip stand on the right hand side of Fiancé. Everytime she tries to take a sidestep right to the next cabinet push her back – thank me later!

Don’t entertain any idea of proposing at top of ESB. It’s bedlam at the top and the least romantic place on earth!

You’re first sentence took the wind out of my sails as I was about to suggest Rebas – I’ve just put 100mm Rebas on my Soul and they’re fabulous. Had longer forks on it, Magura Phaons but Rebas have transformed it – not sure whether it’s just because they’re newer, better, stiffer or whether the shorter travel has made the steering nicer.

I was pondering this too. Run a 44-17 on roadrat commuter. Would be nice to have an ‘overdrive’ to get a wriggle on on the flat and keep up with pedals down hill. Was actually pondering a 700c wheel built with a proper 3 speed Sturmney Archer

+1 for the Joe Blow. For years I never bothered with a track pump then bought one and kicked myself for not buying one 15 years earlier!
