Anyone got an answer regarding WTF they are doing with refunds? Took my cash but only had half of the stuff in stock. Wondering when they are going to put money back on my card.

Could contact On-one but suspect someone on here has already asked the question

Talking to consumer direct about “inertia selling” which they seem to take a dim view of. Thanks for responses.

“if you don’t use the drops you can’t be going very fast so why bother with disks.”

This has got me thinking about my Roadrat. My dilemma is Shimano SLX for £70 or a BB7 for £47 and use existing Deore V brake lever. I’m honestly trying to buy the Avid after reading so many positive reviews but though the SLX is more expensive you seem to just get a lot more for your money…

What levers are you using Clink? Do road levers pull more cable or less compared to MTB levers?

Mmmm – and the cheap ones always seem to be the road BB7. bgger!

“Disks in Winter, V’s in Summer” – you change your brakes between seasons – that is (IMHO) perverse! Especially in this country where you get the same weather all year round anyway!

Got stuff today – no powerlink on my chain either! Heard that the CEO of SRAM has a chain made entirely of powerlinks – maybe someone at On-One fancied one too?

Only a small niggle again but a niggle none the less.

Munqe-chick – I can only imagine you mean 40″ HIPS? 40″ thighs would be a sight to behold!

Just looked down the list of banned words from the Local Govt Association. Half are clearly crap, half are useful and all of them form my day to day working life.

Whoever it was at the Local Govt Association that decided to compile and publish the list, hence making it a news story needs a good kick in the c*nt

Also just checked credit card and been charged for the stuff when I placed the order. I’m no lawyer but I suspect On-one and I have entered into a contract which they’ve not fulfilled…

I’ve just had a similar email saying my chain and Hozan Chain Tool are not in so cancelled from my order. Not too narked but having two items cancelled and still being charged £5 postage has made it a pretty pointless exercise and wiped out any saving now.

Was fascinated by SR71 when I was a kid. Awesome is an overused word but pretty apt for an aircraft that broke 4 world records on its retirement run!

zaskar – using the livestrong site to monitor intake and use. According to Lance to lose 2lb a week I need to be on about 1800 cals a day. If I cycle to work and use the gym I reckon I need about double that. Will look around the net a bit more.

One of these would sort out that pesky road buzz

I’m having the same thought regarding winter boots. I’ve suffered badly on two rides this year – the Brian Rourke charity ride and last weekends Goldrush. I’ve come to the dark side on tights which I’m now a convert on and need some booties too. MW80s are looking favourite but would like to find them a bit cheaper – do they generally come down a bit as we get into warmer weather?

Good find that retro catalogue Mamadirt! That was my Cindercone – bought from On-your bike in Nottingham after (I kid you not) a test ride in their basement!!

Cracking bike but Suntour XC Ltd brakes were appalling – didn’t realise how bad until I got rid of the bike and got some Shimano Cantis which worked.

    Hi Kelvin

I’ve just read the BMX chain thing on the Cotic Website and am I right in thinking that’s 1/8″ chain?

I’ve just had Enduro/Endura(?) ones fitted by Swinntertons – not had bike out yet but took their recommendation and had those instead of Shimano

I’ve had a few recent problems with CRC – they wouldn’t sell me a pair of Easton Wheels for £0.00 despite pricing them that on the website – :( The advertising of prices generally (using “Now £60” when they mean “From £60”) is gr1pping my sht a bit.

My latest and perhaps only real complaint was sending me a helmet of the wrong size. Sent me a large instead of a medium. I can use it as my head size is 57 but it wasn’t what I ordered. No response to my email either.

Did pull a face today when I heard on the news that Crosby had got his peerage for services to Banking. That would be being the architect of HBOS’s current situation then!

That link to Lexs is a good one. Pricing is pretty keen – cheers Sturmey

Dunno if it’s just me but I sometimes drop onto Singletrack at work and would have felt uncomfortable if someone looking over my shoulder, or our IT bods, had clocked me looking at that kind of website. (I realise there’s a question about why I would look at a thread entitled ****…) but maybe there should be a description of the linky to keep us innocents from clicking it. Ta.

I had pondered getting new crankset because bearings were worn and middle ring was tired. A year ago I would have probably done that. Now I changed bearings and middle ring and will carry on with a scuffed but perfectly servicable set of cranks. That probably reflects credit crunch plus binning stuff unnecessarily just seems a bit vulgar – I realize I’m not doing what Gordon Brown wants me to but I’m sticking it to the man

I’ve just had a look at the BETD website and realized that I’ve accidently used their bearings as replacements on my LX cranks. Swinnertons advised this after asking about replacements. Not ridden bike yet.

If you can get in fast enough to get one and before they change the rate then you can get 5% cashback with Amex card. Not all places take amex though

“crc seem to have them on sale” – LOL – I see what you did there. To be fair they are a touch cheaper than other places but not many colours and sizes for the advertised £60. I had a minor moan earlier in the week as I hoped to bag one

As indicated earlier – I’d like one of these but will have to wait after pay day at the end of the month – is there a batch size that you are waiting for Troutie or are you doing them each as one-offs?

TBH it’s more the advertising of the prices than the actual prices that gripped my sht but happy that other people have had a grind of their own axes!

That is a lovely thing and I’m also interested – email addy in profile. I’d need the option for dummies of getting a built one. Would it run from a 14.4V Li-ion battery?

For £500ish I’d be looking at something like the Oris Big Crown range – I like the look of those. If you can run to a bit more then Omega Seamaster’s are very nice. Also worth bearing in mind that if you have hard cash and are serious about buying then jewellers will move on the sticker price – especially in the current climate.
