DT look nice but wasn't really looking to spunk 600 notes – bagged the revs for £300 all being well.

Just had a trawl around and found some 130 revs. Was intending to go Maxle but can't really spring for a new wheel so got QR version

Happy to hold my hands up to this being a 'me thing' but don't really fancy idea of second hand forks.

I had a fantastic ride home from boozer on a chopper with no lights. Ended up in the hedge a few times because I was laughing so hard

I've never seen triangular sign for cyclists crossing but it might be worth someone talking to Staffs County Council to see if some kind of advisory sign could be put up near the crossing.

I rode it the other day. Great piece of work – design and build and thought that it compares favourably to some of the Welsh trail centres. I thought that it was appreciably harder than FTD. I think you may find less of the footie shirt and supermarket bike crowd making their way across there – though the two yoofs and girl in Jesus sandals seemed to be enjoying it!

bikefish85 – that's what I'm talking about. If I were to buy that on C2W (laying aside the usual moral objections) then I reckon I've got some decent forks and enough spare parts to keep the Soul running nicely for a couple of years for ~£450 spread across 12 easy to manage payments!

Mossimus – LOL – I did the same whilst watching the Youtube Vid. Maybe the guy had races with CB500s?

Through the twisties is something else but in a straight line you need a lot of car before you are troubling any bike.

I've got 105 hp golf plus tdi. Consumption according to computer settles on 47-48mpg on my usual runs. Strangely was on holiday in Norfolk last week and got 55ish mpg when running around putting it down to freeflowing but slowish roads and denser air at lower altitude – lol!

As I don't know anything about mrswwaswas I'm not sure if BigG's suggestion regarding back doors is supposed to be 'carrot' or 'stick' ?

I think she should go for it too. She knows she's capable of running the distance and isn't just turning up in her plimsols to 'do a Goodie' (RIP)

I'm unsure yet who I'll be voting for but I do think that the Macaroon has probably sh@t it. Regardless of what you thought of the debate, that seemed to be a defining moment when I think it slipped from DC's clutches.

I'd imagine the stresses arising from hanging 25lb of frame, back wheel etc from front wheel, fork, headset etc are much less than those from a fat lad – 200lb – sat on the saddle and just riding around let alone drops and jumps from riding off road

I do a bit. If I were you and just starting out then I'd get something like an iii ISA account and set up a monthly subscription to them for £50 or £100 quid or whatever. You then decide how you want to allocate that each month. You choose to buy your shares on, iirc, one of 3 dates in the month, they bundle everyone's purchases together so commission is low. £1.50 or so. I'd set up to put a third each month into a nice high divi paying oil stock BP or Shell (set up for autoreinvest of divi) , a third into something like Tesco and a third into a speculative stock. I like Arm holdings but valuation is getting a bit rich. This gives benefit of pound cost averaging and gives you some skin in the game so you can see if it's for you

    "freeview hd……….dont believe the hype"

Which bit of the hype shouldn't we believe? Currently torn between springing for a Foxsat box or waiting for the humax Freeview HD. Though I am also contemplating a daliance with a the Panasonic Freesat Blu-ray combo thingy.

I've had a Humax 9200 for ages and it's been great. I wouldn't entertain getting a single channel PVR. Sometimes get some good deals on refurbished Humax stuff directly from them HERE

I've just installed a foxsat box for my father in law and am very impressed. Get some HD content and get benefit of iPlayer (other on demand services coming later in the year) if you are hooked up to internet.

Alternative is to wait for the decent Freeview HD boxes to come along.

GrahamS – it doesn't pop up a box – it connects automatically but then can't wifi because you've not got past the splash screen. Turning off 'join networks' stops it connecting to mine. When I get the problem I turn off wifi and use 3g but I don't think there's a way to selectively ignore a network. Meh, minor irritation but wondered if it might be source of OPs problem

I'm regularly pissed off by BT homehubs. A few months ago BT automatically updated them and switched them all to open access. In my back garden my phone now automatically hooks onto my neighbours homehub and and displays a splash screen inviting me to put my credit card number in so I can use it. I can't tell my iPhone to ignore it and it hacks me off. (i'd also be pssed off if I had a homehub and BT were selling my bandwidth!)

If you're in Bristol then I think we went to the Platinum Club – somewhere behind the theatre. IIRC I helped a lovely young girl from Bath Spa University buy some books for her course – nice to be able to give a bit back!

I've just had the same problem and ended up fitting a dension kit from ipodcarkitdirect. Worked for me to retain the current head unit. If you can change that then there may be other options. Dension kit works well for me though

If you can borrow a slide mitre circular saw that speeds things up a lot in my experience. Also, laying laminate is a lot easier with two of you as you can clip together a room length 'plank' and then click the entire length down in one go. A gash bit of offcut and a hammer also works as a useful pursuader to seat errant bits and close gaps.

I presume that it's tubeless and not some cock up with an inner tube? I caught someone the other day that had fitted a tube and screwed the valve collar all the way in before fitting the tyre. Tube was stopping bead get to right place to seat properly.

I've always laid my own laminate flooring and take off skirting boards. Don't understand how you do the rebating of skirting boards all the way round. Don't see how you fit the sides or the last row?

Other deciding factor for me between laminate and solid floor was 'stack height'. Already had flooring sorted in kitchen and didn't want a big height difference between the two. Mattered to me but may not matter to others. Other thing to budget for is new skirting and door strips

I found a ZX7R was considerably more involving around a circuit than a Ferrari. Save your money and get a bike license!
