If you’ve got a pressure washer you can get drain cleaning kits that fit them, might be worth a try.

I used to use the National Express Airport Bus from Cardiff when I lived in South Wales to go to Heathrow. Pretty good service, picks up in Newport as well as Cardiff.

Theres a 100Amp fuse (Bolt In) underneath the Battery Tray, you have to remove the battery and the tray. AA found it for me on my T5 after a garage shorted the alternator and blew the fuse. At the time in 2009 it was the first one they had ever seen and updated the database for their breakdown patrols. I’d look there first.

JSP do a a Press-to-test range with P3 dust filters. Although this doesn’t negate the need to do a Fit Test for COSHH Regulations, it gives a better indication that the mask fits properly. I’ve used this mask for a lot of dusty work during home renovations and it protects well. Remember, clean shaven skin is also required to get a good face fit. Screwfix sell the JSP mask.

My Honeywell controller display stopped working. Take back off the unit, and inside is a button battery that is for power back up, removed it, and replaced it (with the same battery) and it resets and came back to life. Run for another 2 years since with no problems. There are some YouTube videos that show what to do.

    Rainbow Stew – Merle Haggard

Could have been written about 2022!

There’s a big, brown cloud in the city
    And the countryside’s a sin
The price of life is too high to give up
    It’s gotta come down again
But worldwide war is over and done
And the dream of peace comes true
We’ll all be drinkin’ that free Bubble Up
    And eatin’ that rainbow stew
When they find out how to burn water
And the gasoline car is gone
When an airplane flies without any fuel
And the sunlight heats our home
But one of these days when the air clears up
And the sun comes shinin’ through
We’ll all be drinkin’ that free Bubble Up
    And eatin’ that rainbow stew
Eatin’ rainbow stew in a silver spoon
    Underneath that sky of blue
We’ll all be drinkin’ that free Bubble Up
    And eatin’ that rainbow stew
    Alright, Parky?
    Here comes Don
You don’t have to get high to get happy
Just think about what’s in store
When people start doin’ what they oughta be doin’
Then they won’t be booin’ no more
When a President goes through the White House door
Does what he says he’ll do
We’ll all be drinkin’ that free Bubble Up
    And eatin’ that rainbow stew
Eatin’ rainbow stew in a silver spoon
    Underneath that sky of blue
We’ll all be drinkin’ that free Bubble Up
    And eatin’ that rainbow stew
Eatin’ rainbow stew in a silver spoon
    Underneath that sky of blue
We’ll all be drinkin’ free Bubble Up
    And eatin’ that rainbow stew

I am Deputy Team Leader at Calder Valley MRT – we only use over 18’s for Casualty Training / Search Dogs now, usually they are from our own team “supporters” now as well. For more risky steep ground / crag training, we usually use a weighted rescue mannikin, rather than placing a human at unnecessary risk.

We do support Scouting etc, and run open evenings explaining our work, showing kit and allowing scouts to be placed into stretchers, meet the search dogs etc but usually at the confines of our base. Whilst I can’t vouch for other local teams I also sit on the Mid Pennine Search and Rescue panel and most of them follow a similar stance.

Visits have been restricted at present due to Covid protocols.

    Hope that Helps.

As above be Very careful…we applied for one on our last property purchase, in 2016, there was a problem at survey stage, due to an under dwelling under half of a upstairs bedroom, even though we’d been approved for the money in principle.

So we decided not to proceed with the bridging loan, as they wanted to put it on another property we selling instead of the one we wanted to purchase.

The terms and conditions in the small print for cancellation by us ended up costing us £3k even though we didn’t even take the loan in the end!

Make sure you register for the Toll Cameras in Norway prior to arrival, and if you arrive earlier than planned pay for them before you leave, as even though you are pre-registered they won’t take the money earlier than the day you state for arriving, and you’ll get fined. Stick to the speed limits in Norway as well as they are strictly enforced, maximum is 90kph (56mph) on most roads.

Try the Fosse Way (The Romans knew what they were doing!), M1 – Leicester – M69 – B4455 / A429 / A303 Honniton / A30 used to use this road to the South West for work beats M6/M5 hands down, gets busy on A303/A30, but you are going to meet some of that traffic anyway.

Mine did this, there is a Bolt in 100Amp Fuse Hidden under the Battery Tray – AA Man did a lot of digging to find it, but that was the root cause on mine, a mechanic shorted something during a service. Alternator light would go out when Revved and drove to London from Yorkshire no problem, but despite the Alternator light not been illuminated battery was not charging.

Vogel, Slovenia. Sensibly priced so you can actually afford to ski and eat on the hill, beautiful, not too busy, close to good cross-country skiing (Pokljuka) if you fancy something different on the same holiday, and you can stay in Bled, which is one of the most beautiful places in Europe.

    #COFFEE&BUTTYFUNDRAISER PART 2 30th May 2021 – If you couldn’t make it last time.

This Bank Holiday Sunday (30th May) from 9am till 2pm the residents of Lower Greave Farm, London Road will be hosting a coffee and butty fundraiser in support of Calder Valley Search & Rescue Team (CVSRT).
If you are out for a ride on London Road or heading up to Stoodley Pike why not pop along for some home cooked food along the way. The organisers have placed signs on the local paths to help you find your way.
There is no set price for the food and refreshments on offer, however, any and all donations will be greatly received.
A few CVSRT team members will be there to say hello. The team continue to be very busy now 50 Callouts during 2021, we have seen a significant increase in operating costs during the COVID pandemic due to additional PPE requirements. Support from local Riders much appreciated.

Carlton Barrett- father of the one drop reggae sound. Listen to his raw drumming on this isolated drum track, “Lively up Yourself” from the Natty Dread album. It doesn’t feel like he’s doing much, but the beat’s tight. Good Headphones required.

I’d be careful if he’s selling these as a business for profit. The lamps could be classed as a Decorative Desk Lamp for a Home Office for example, then they could be deemed to be work equipment.

Then Section 6 of The Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 applies:

    Manufacturers’, Suppliers’ and Designers’ Duties

Manufacturers, suppliers, importers and designers must ensure that any articles or substances provided for use at work are safe and without risks to health, as outlined in s.6. This includes:

    testing
    research
    examination of the products
providing relevant safety information including revisions
when the product is intended for use at work.

There is case law around this after a company supply children’s play beds were prosecuted for selling furniture with an unsafe design. They were prosecuted under Section 3 (1) HSAWA1974 – It shall be the duty of every employer to conduct his undertaking in such a way as to ensure, so far as is reasonably practicable, that persons not in his employment who may be affected thereby are not thereby exposed to risks to their health or safety. Section 6 was also cited as the beds didn’t meet safety standards for the sizes of openings and a child got their head stuck and was aspixhiated.

All the VW’s I have owned have been expensive and not particularly reliable.

2005 T5 Camper – Oil Cooler Failure at 20k, Water Pump, Alternator all gone before 90K – side windows leaky, drivers door electric window failed. Did like it when it worked, travelled around Europe and a trip to Iceland.

2008 VW Polo 1.2 (Ex’s Car) Cracked Engine Block – 1 month out of warranty, £1200 to fix.

2009 VW Sorrocco – Mad single man phase, see above 😀 Ate Tyres, Faulty DSG Gearbox. 4K Depreciation in a year!

There’s an infamous one if you are a small business owner, where you are contacted to thank you for your order of Drugs Awareness books you have “agreed” to sponsor for local primary schools. Obviously, you haven’t, but they try to say they paid for the printing costs and start trying to get details to invoice you, and threaten you with debt collection agencies. I’ve always just hung up on them, and reported them to Action Fraud. Some people have become very stressed dealing with these particularly nasty characters.

For reliability an old Hilux is a good bet, I’ve just sold my 2001 MK4 but did 260,000 with only routine service, and a new clutch. I have a customer with a 2005 Mk5 thats on 430,000 miles. You just need to consider emissions, if you stay out of cities you’ll be fine, but to take my old hilux into London it was £100/day!
