I’ve just been reading this thread on the t6 forum which is about the auto trail, goes into some detail so might be useful. No idea why I was reading it, no intention of getting one! Just another rabbit hole!!

Anyway, you might find some useful info

Superdry often have a good selection of padded or lined over shirts. I have one with quilted lining which has lasted me ten years or so now. Recently picked up a decent Borg/Sherpa lined one

Edit – I realise this is not strictly what the op askedb for, bit worth checking out nonetheless

I went to sharm years ago and had hep A, tetanus and typhoid all on the same day. Don’t recall feeling grim afterwards but it was a long time ago. But I know for sure I’d rather have the vaccine than the bug.

Edit – I just realised I actually now get the typhoid booster every three years anyway for work, it doesn’t give me side effects.

I’ve used a Thule 591 to carry my carbon road bike (and non carbon MTB) without giving it a second thought…. Didn’t know I should be thinking about!? My bike is still in one piece.

Blackpool – loads of history and architecture like the grand theatre and winter gardens tours, the tower obviously, there’s the showtime museum now as well, Grundy art gallery. Then there’s the pensioners paradise Lytham st.annes just down the road, easy biking along the prom, some decent food to be had nowadays if you know where to look.

My daughter rides in Aldi dungarees, jersey/jacket underneath so the dungarees do the job of stopping the spray and mud etc. I guess it depends how much room you’ve got!

It seemed so practical that I got some of the Madison ones, not tried them out yet though

Here she is modelling the look for you

There was a police rep talking about this on radio 4 yesterday, he said despite the rise/popularity/visibility of cyclists submitted camera footage on YouTube etc, the vast majority of footage actually comes from motorists about other motorists.

I’ve leased cars for about 15yrs now. I just look at it as another monthly payment that goes out which means I’m in a new car which is therefore reliable, with little in the way if unexpected costs.

Re’ the maintenance thing, just bear in mind how many miles you’ll do. A lot of cars are 2 yr service intervals now anyway, or like the Corsa I just got, the first service is £100, so not a big shock! But if you’re doing low mileage, you probably won’t need to replace things like brakes anyway. I’ve had a few 3yr deals and sometimes I’ve had to replace the front tyres close to the end of the deal, so I’ve just stuck on whatever cheap ones I can get as the car will be returned soon. Haven’t MOT’d any of the lease cars I’ve had.

I did get caught out by the excess mileage charge once, we’d gone a few thousand over, but it only added up to a couple of hundred quid. They tell you the charge beforehand so you can work out what it might cost.

I’ve used Leden group a couple of times, Simpsons Skoda a couple of times, got a mini through a local dealer, a Citroen lease. Just gone into a PCP with Arnold Clark as I was happy with the car and deal.

Just adding the usual +1 for the vitus 24+ if you can find one. I’m not sure how they weigh up to the alternatives, but my daughter gets on ok and can manage trail centre distances ok.

We’ve had our new EV a week now. We replaced the Octavia PHEV with a full electric Corsa (we no longer need the bigger vehicle.) Is a lovely little car. Has the feel of a little hot hatchback, great to nip about in.

But really wanted to point out that Arnold Clark are currently doing (imo) some pretty good deals on the Corsa at the moment. £289 in and £289 pm gets you a full electric, it’s cheaper than the ice alternatives. So if you’re in the market for a small ev, check them out. We got the Corsa ultimate down to £275 pm.

What do people use as snacks when out on a ride or walk? I’m now finding the bars eg Kellogs nutigrain or Nature valley very sweet.

    @bunnyhop
I’ve been experimenting with making flapjack. Followed a recipe for ginger flapjack which had 150g sugar in it….. That’s a lot. Used the same recipe and dropped it to 30g sugar plus some maple syrup and that was fine, threw in lots of nuts seeds and dried fruit. Going to try another batch with no added sugar, should be fine.

Did a carrot cake flapjack the other day that used only honey instead of added sugar and that was -spot on emoji-

I’ve been able to eat a bit every now and again and it doesn’t have the same immediate effect that biscuits and cake does -poo emoji-

And it’s really not very hard to make if you’ve not done it before.

    Bloody emoji’s still not working!

I’m currently on this “journey.” Had IBS symptoms for a long time, I know onions/garlic are particularly bad. It’s not just that it causes bloating or cramps, but a bad IBS attack can leave me feeling completely wiped out, lethargic, moody until it wears off.

3 weeks into an exclusion diet now and I’ve found all the conflicting fodmap advice. One website recommended avocado’s, the next says no no no!!

Mostly been eating porridge, chicken, rice and sweet potato.

I want to reintroduce bread, see if that’s a wrong un.

I know sugar is bad, can’t really tolerate biscuits and cakes etc. knocking sugar on the head has meant I’ve rapidly lost a few kg.

In winter, my 8yr old rides in waterproof dungarees from Aldi, we were at glentress earlier this year where it didn’t stop raining for the three days we were there and several people asked where we got them and “what a great idea!” (It’s not rocket science!) I’ve got sick of getting wet through and filthy so decided to plump for the Madison dungarees. I’m kinda looking forward to trying them, but would be happy if I didn’t really have to!

One system. One record. All information.

There are many projects underway to get things linked together better. But you would not believe (you probably would actually) the number of systems that need joining up. It’s a total mess.

I’ve been involved in a local project to replace a particular system which hit major problems due to a constrictive time frame and a poor chosen product. The project should’ve started years and years ago and had a three year or so time frame, but the over arching trusts screwed the procurement and obfuscated time and again and we ended up trying to spanner it in in a year.

NHS England tried to prevent us going back to a different (better) supplier as an emergency recovery plan because they want to see competition in the market and don’t want this particular company to have the greater market share.

The whole debacle has wasted a few million, should never have happened like this.

In the meantime, I went to work last weekend and had to work in a room that was 31 degrees all day because the air con unit has been broken for about 3 months. They wouldn’t replace it because there’s no money (it had actually been done this week finally, although it’s not “plugged in” yet because we need a different contractor to come and sort the wiring.)

Planet X have got loads to choose from, 600ml for £1, bigger ones for <3 quid. I’ve had a few and they don’t leak and you can fit the dirt cap from a camelbak bottle on them. Oh and they’re on 3 for 2 as well.

Bluetooth headband for sleeping. Keeps the light out and steam some white noise to it to keep the background noise out ? my daughter uses one when she’s in the pop top

Edit – keep forgetting emojis and links aren’t working well for me!! Search Bluetooth headband kids in Amazon, should be the first thing that pops up

Will be considerably cheaper to see, more likely to turn up and probably sound better too.

It’s not the point though is it? It’s also cheaper to just watch some footage on YouTube of when they were in their prime.

Someone up there said about some other band who can play the guitar better. I don’t think anyone who attends any of these gigs will be there to critique the guitar playing, or really cares how Liam’s voice is. It’s about being there in that moment, being with your mates at what is, despite all the negativity on here, a culturally massive event, singing along in a huge crowd and having a good day out.

I mean, I don’t go on the football threads bollocking on about how I’d rather poke my eyeballs out than watch a game, or how it’s considerably cheaper to watch it on telly than actually go to the match, or why do people spend so much travelling the world to follow their team when they could just catch the best bits on match of the day.

If someone starts a thread next time ed Sheeran tours, will you jump on that to tell everyone how bland he is!? -wink emoji-

Just spent £28 on a ticket to see Cardinal Black at Rock City

I’ve been to other gigs as well -thumbs up emoji-

does anyone know anyone who actually got tickets and paid standard price? I don’t.

Yes, I know someone who got tickets for Edinburgh at the standard price.

The group I’m with all got tickets (16 in total) for Heaton park at standard price but that was in the pre-sale.

Who’s actually at fault for the dynamic pricing thing? Everyone’s bemoaning oasis for it, like it’s directly Noel and Liam responsible, but surely it’s actually Ticketmaster, or which ever promotions company is involved?

As above, money is undoubtedly a factor in the reunion, the sums are boggling, but whether you like them or not, both brothers now have successful solo careers and they must receive pretty handsome royalty cheques, especially from Absolute radio and Radio X ? so I doubt they actually need it!!

    Richard Ashcroft as support?

Good shout. Foo Fighters supported when I saw them in Cardiff!

Stone Roses had a different line up each day of their Heaton park gigs, could be a similar thing, scope for a lot of acts.

Wouldn’t be surprised to see Shed 7, coral, Kasabian, Cast, blossoms, catfish and bottlemen etc’. Courteeners? All the standard blokey indie. Sleaford Mods for a slight curve ball? Justin Hawkins seems pretty keen on his latest YT post.

We’re in at Heaton park on the 12th July. Just checked travelodges, all MCR ones are £250 ?

? Is supposed to be a laughing emoji, I’m not questioning why they’re so expensive!

I used to work in the hospital laundry, 1996 on for a few years. Stag could smoke in the break room, it was horrendous, a thick cloud in there every brew time. There was a yellow tide mark round the walls at head height!!

Moved across to the labs in 2000, the old staff in there tell me there used to be ash trays on the benches. Culture of TB or gonorrheoae in one hand, tab in the other!

Disclosure – I’m an ex smoker, used to bloody love smoking and probably still would, but it’s best left in the past.

Paid £6.40 for a San Miguel in Reeth a few weeks ago, if that’s some people’s normal then £8 a pint at somewhere like Heaton park won’t be much of a shock.

Mrs Kennerley is very excited! Like she says, it’s not just the band, will hopefully get a good few of us together, maybe the kids as well, a good reason for a good day out.

Also plenty of on street parking around Stanley park, north park drive etc. probably get on newton drive somewhere, that’s a short ride to the centre of town.

The ride from starr gate to st.annes is now a cycle path, where that ends (at st.annes end) you can then divert onto the quieter road on the beach side, rather than busy clifton drive.

On street parking on prom around pleasure beach or the streets behind. Not sure what time restrictions there are at Morrisons or lidl on squires gate, they could be a good shout.

I don’t feel like I should be helpful seeing as you’re all so bloody negative about my home ?
