Will you still talk to passing mountain bikers [:?:]
Or make eye contact but say nowt, not even when said mt bikers say alrite?

That really irritates me, Not only does it make me look a c*** for speaking to them and them not replying but its rude, Were all on two wheels but us mtbs dont look as daft 😛

lets scrap that idea then 😆 i was going to get a bit of colour into my bike, my hub gave in today so was going to get a blue Pro 2 on the back with blue floating rotors.

Theyve gone now though they were on e-bay

    I bought my Pikes new
2nd hand 06 hecker frame with float R shock
New drivetrain (Old bike 50miles on)
    New cables
    wheels (old bike)
    2nd hand bars
    2nd hand shifters + Mechs
New brakes (well 2 bikes old) but bought new
    New tyres

Whole build cost me £650 ish initially after buying little bits to finish it off but in the end it cost me **** all and i made profit by selling my 07 Stumpy Comp frame (which new build replaced) and Float RL forks for £750, They went up on the high side on e-bay and someone bought the pair, couldnt believe it 😯

Cheers for the help folks, Ive took it all apart again, Ive reseated the shaft and nipped up with the 5mm allen key and fitted the 24m top cap

wait for this wound the rebound right off cranked it back up to full travel, clunk is still there at 20mm I added some rebound its still there, However somewhere theres a tiny bit of play, Ive adjusted the u-turn nob 2 clicks to lower the fork, which looks like 1mm 😉

The clunk went, *Scratches head* guess the spring must be a little short, It never made a difference the first time though. Il give it a few rides to bed in and add a bit of oil because you lose a bit taking the spring out and see what its like after that, Bikes much better now though my sags at 20% and not 35% 😆 Shorter stem this weekend and hopefully my back prob will be sorted too

Result 😀 Quick blast to work on Wednesday on it for a few steps, kerbs etc and recheck the caps and I should be ready for a weekend ride

Edit: Peter you was right, jaffa cake in the post 😉

Guarantee the 24mm isnt crossthreaded it went in with no fuss the first few turns by hand.

I’l try releasing the 5mm and reseating the shaft to see if it goes away, If that doesnt cure it i’l be totally lost

You wont need mud tyres 🙂 Its pretty dry now i rode it last weekend and we’ve had no rain since so you shouldnt be sliding about, Its getting quite worn though on the first section

Whinlatter is going to be my next choice on my Venture to the lakes in April,

The North face at Grizedale was good fun in the -7 ice in December, Havent rid it in the warmer times but the views were bloody fantastic so worth a visit IMO

I normally go out for a blast along a few fireroads before i get on any trails, If you get about 20 miles of fireroads in one weekend it should bed them in.

Normally i take the GF just for a bit of company fireroads are boring

Generally ive stuck with the brake manufacturers pads than another brand as past experience they dont last as long, I got through a set of EBC sintereds in 2 long rides wheres my Avids have been in 9-10 rides now and not that worn either

    1) put the right spring in the fork. you really want that anyway regardless of the back problem.
    2) shorter/higher rise stem. higher rise bars.
    3) slide your seat forward, get an inline post if necessary.
    4) adjust the saddle angle, probably nose down a little.

hehe I’l get the pike spring ordered tomorrow from TFT as ive been meaning to do that for a month now 😳 I’l also raise the stem as it can get more rise by adjusting a shim 🙂 I’l also tweak the seat a bit more too and give it a run to see how it feels 8)

If all else fails a few cheap stems in different lengths and rises will be ordered

Thanks for all the suggestions so far fellow STWs, Rich

I didnt get any measurements off my last bike 🙁 The pains were in my lower back and no doubt will be back next weekend when i get out again.

Ive got my saddle set so at full pedal stroke i have a slight bend in my knee and after riding 10 miles or so i get the feeling I’m too far over the front and low down (not sure if the low downs due to the amount of sag), Adjusting the saddles rails so the seats further back didnt seem to make a difference either.

I’l see if i can get the missus to take a pic of me on the bike to show my positioning thought i’d ask for folks opinions before i go “wasting” (as i’m told) money on more bits 😆

Kippford Holiday park here, right opposite Dalbeattie and the only stane a distance away is Glentress which was a 2 hr drive, Think it was £50 to pitch for the week could be wrong on that

I love mine, Another with pikes front end feels a bit low, so i’m hoping a higher rise stem will help, Other than that its great

Just used mine this weekend for the first time, I wouldnt not go without a pump as you never know what’l happen, I had two punctures this weekend and only had 1 canister so had to use the pump, For the easiness and no faffing around i’d get one.

It inflated my 2.3 Conti hard enough for me 🙂

might have to get myself a few hope bits again, Ive not had any problems with any bits ive had in the past, but ended up with other brands as thats what came on some builds

I have a lizard skin and its stayed put for its first ride so cant comment on long term theyre only £3 so must be worth a punt 😆

Instead of buying patched for frames i use Electrical tape in black a few layers does just as good

IMO if its closed its closed for a reason, Its getting pretty worn now and people riding it while its soggy as shit is going to nark it up

Ive got a thule kit on the roof of my 3 door clio its solid as a rock 🙂

Getting a bike in is easy enough too both wheels off, back seats down and strap the mech up too. It fits in (just) with all my gear. Thought a fezza would be slightly larger
