My juicy 5 rear brake used to vibrate on the back of my stumpy when hot, I upgraded to carbons with the same size rotor, some copperslip on the pads, a few washers under the tri align bit and it stopped,

Is there enough clearence between the rotor and caliper when hot? asin the outside edge of the disk

I’m a hope fan just not a fan of the Black/gold minis, they heated up and faded too fast for my liking

I’ve ran Old style silver m4s 180/160 and two sets of the black/gold m4s 185/185 & 203/203 they were bloody great and so easy to work with

I swapped out to avids, Started off with 5s and now on carbons, they feel good but i’m not looking forward to bleeding them

Yes the chains too long, put it on at 2am and wanted to sleep 😆

If anyone knows how to make 2001 Z3s rebound faster it’d be muchos apprectiated, both legs are air but both sides just seem to make them firmer 😕

I took the axle out and clamped the locknut in a vice while tightening the cone to it

this suggests to me that one side of the axle could be manufactured non disemblable (perhaps with the cone keyed onto the “nut”) so the vice bit wouldn’t be necessary…

It could be as i thought of no other reason of not doing it other than to change the cones on their own due to wear, Presonally i would rather buy a rebuild pack with a new axle, cones bearings the lot. Selling them with one side fixed (on rear hubs anyway) as you cant get to the cones to adjust them under the freehub without taking them all apart, Suggestion to shimano?

I took the axle out and clamped the locknut in a vice while tightening the cone to it, reasembled it all and tightened the other end on teh bike to get the preload correct, they only came loose once that was before i touched them.

Since i tightened them up they aint shifted 😀

I’m getting neare finished on my hack/ pub/ fireroad bike

    From

    to

also have this for fun, which has changed slightly now

Hit a snag on the hack bike though, The front brake runs very close to the arch on the forks and sometimes catches 😕 Its very light though 😀

I can sort of jump, The bike never follows my feet though so i end up with gouges out of the backs of my legs.

Using clipless pedals though, Its a piece of piss 😆

I got a set of 661 filters to replace a worn out set of taki’s and found them to be very narrow and were on the small size too so i’d go the next size up in them or if youve broad feet stay away!

I chose Specialized BG Comps from last year and they fit like a glove in my proper show size too, Spesh stuff tends to be pretty much cock on IME

hehe great aren’t they, the York ones no better either although it did only take 5 mins to get me a rear mech there 🙂 and they stock a few stems

York does employ a nice looking lady on friday nights too 😆

Ideally it should be sanded down before the paint goes on, If you go through the primer to bare metal just spray a little over the area after youv’e done the rest. You only need primer though for bare metal

I was up there yesterday too, I was using Conti verticals and the missus using Kenda nevgals, She was sliding allover the place as was I. I thought i was doing well to get round the north side without falling off though 😀

After that i went over to the south side on my todd as she’d had enough by this time, I’d got up to the top of the hill on the final switchback and slid on a root, Tried unclipping and the front whel slipped 😳 and tumbled down the hill, Today i’m sat with bruises and cuts on my RHS boohoo boring weekend for me. Need a new helmet and mech as a result

I had exactly the same with my wheel build from then ProII XT and XM719s first ride up the road, Ping ping ping etc, They were egg shaped i noticed too when i fitted them and within a week of using managed to get a slight buckle on the front.

Ive now sorted the buckle and retensioned them but left the egg in them. theyre shite TBH, I will be replacing the rear this year as i’m not happy with the hub either, Its too quiet 😆

DBW, I think i may have seen you today if you was up there with two other riders? I heard someone muttering about only one brake and then got passed my a blur. I was at the rock drop on a Heckler and my missus with the camera two of your mates went over it while you took the alternate route.

^^ Missed it 😆 So to clear things, I need to take my shock off put a rag through the eye and unscrew it with an oil filter strap, Then it’l go bang and scare the shit out of me 😆 and reasemble and see how she goes. I can sense an upgrade i need to talk myself out of 😀

I was up there today too, bust my shock too which i wasnt happy about. Its a technical place to go i got the missus to take a few pics while i rode it sessioning parts, One of my funniest pics from the day has to be the one below, This is my face of ‘oh shit’ 5ft off the ground and i snagged my pedal on the top, This was when my shock had gone and i hadnt realised 😳 wondered where all my clearance had gone Still i got round it 8)
