he gets more enjoyment out of building than actually using.

And your saying the fact he enjoys building is negative? Its certainly a positive. Hes out the house, off the computer and on the spanners. Maybe the only reason he hasnt had massive use out of the other bikes is that his friends arn’t riding theirs?

We know ourselves that riding alone isn’t particularly motivating and at that age the prospect is tenfold.

Take the opportunity to get him playing with the bike even if its just helping you fix yours from time to time. Its never ever ever a bad thing for life. The only reason i have my job today was through my old man giving me ‘work experience’ in the garage on the grass track cars(yes he was like a boss, I got away with f’ all!).

Moto X is way tougher than Mountain Bike on the majority of muscles in the body.

I’m not doubting the aerobic fitness levels of top MTB riders, but as far as strength and mental endurability . MX Enduro beats all.

This will probably repeat the last million posts but so be it..

I ride with my gf sometimes, as she enjoys coming out and getting the same ‘out of town’ feeling that i do it for. I try not to push her to keep up or go faster as i’d much rather her stay on the bike rather than push it because she feels like she may be holding me up. End of the day i want us both to enjoy it and falling off certainly isn’t enjoyable.

At the same time she understands (this is the important bit) that sometimes i do want to let loose and go like a strava influenced maniac, usually with some other lunatics of my kind (aka the riding guys) and she is completely fine if i say i’m going riding with just them.

It’s all about finding a balance and both getting the right amount of riding in, alone, together, whatever.

The fact you’re interested really does help. Its a massive bonus for me having the girlfriend interested in riding because whenever she says ‘can we spend more time together’ or, ‘what can we do for a nice day out this weekend?’ I’m allowed to suggest riding our beloved bikes!
she’s happy, i’m enjoying being on the bike WIN/WIN. 😀

Hey, just jumped onto this post as i’m planning on coming down that neck of the woods over easter for a couple of days with my gf, and she’s fairly new to riding so the tamer red runs would be perfect 🙂 Ideally i’d like to do the Marin, Penmachno and one of the similar runs at CyB

Has anyone any recommendations as to campsites? and would i be better off booking or can i turn up on the day as it will be a bit of a last minute decision on when to go.

    Cheers/Diolch 😉

You are off work. end of. There is nothing he can legally do if you are signed off.

And another thing, you’re entilted to a Written contract and technically should have one, and may be surprised as to find you do you’ve just never seen it as its law.
