I have sweet protection bearsuit lights and while they are good they have begun to fall apart (that happened almost immediately). I have fox launch pro too and they are also very good!

I like the look of the 7IDP ones and may try them next!

Ahhh it was your video I saw then!

That climb looks tough. It does look like its a lot of fun though. Is this stage 3?

Also What tyres are / were you running?

I was there Friday and can confirm that the leg burner climb is closed. I know this was the case on friday as I rode to the bottom of the leg burner climb and found it closed. Zorro was completely clear too.

I back tracked all the way back the way I came and rejoined the trail to do the Pendam loop.

To be honest the signage isn’t good. It said on the sign tree work would be finished on the 18/03. I think more effort could have been made to make people aware that the trail was still closed a week later (it was a sunny very busy bank holiday weekend and there were a lot of riders in NYA). I’m glad I wasn’t the only one to fall foul of the closure!! I did meet another group of riders who were about to start the Mark of Zorro too, just coming off the new bit of trail there.

No but I have thought up at least 10 better team names for my lot. Bikey McBikeface. Genius.

I went for a yellow one with x fusion suspension, SLX stuff (inc an old fashioned double up front) did go for EX1501 wheels though.

Its great. I have spare bits in my spares box so I am going to try it 1*10 to see how I get on with that.

Came to a abrupt stop on my road bike and couldn’t unclip fast enough. It resulted in a super-slow motion sideways topple. I should probs go to A and E and get the slight graze checked out.

I’m 5″6 and probably have long monkey arms. The medium with a 30mm stem feels good. The Small just felt like my regular bike. These are meant to be long frames. Medium is spot on for me!

I test rode on a Saturday and Swinley was rammed! I only managed one lap of the blue due to crowds and general faffing!

Like everyone says they are great bikes, and a great company to deal with. I ended up getting a medium as it felt perfect!

My mum had one for a year or so. She couldn’t get on with it as it was (according to her) too small…I think she kind of missed the point of it! My parents live in the countryside outside of Aberystwyth and she said it was fine for driving round there (apart from the size!). she swapped it for an Aygo. I drove it a few times and it was good, well made, plenty of room in the car for 3 people, lots of nice features.

My mums new dream car is a 4×4 panda…..

Aurum, only because having seen both bikes in the flesh the Aurum is the prettiest!

And all the other reasons given above.

Will it be on the NOW TV entertainment package?

I 2nd the status. I got one for around your budget with CCDB shock Marzocchi 888 evos, hope brakes, everything you could want really. It is a great bike. There were a few on Pinkbike for decent money.

I looked at them when I was looking for an older DH bike. There are a lot of options at £800. Have a look at pinkbike. Loads on there. I picked up a Spec Status for £700 in the end. If you really really want an Iron Horse then get the sunday, if you just want a DH bike then I would have a look at a few other options.

If anyone is interested i have a set of rockshox revelations dual air 150mm (straight steerer) they can have. They need a lot of love, the stanchion coating is worn away in the usual place and the lower brake mount needs helicoiling.

However internally they are all in once piece. I bought them as spares for another broken set of revs.

If anyone wants them get in touch.

I really enjoyed the league. Lucifer is fun too. There is a lot of good stuff on there, but there is also a fair bit of junk! I am going to try Vikings, black sails and Mr robot next…

I’m 5″ 6 and ordered a medium after riding both the small and medium.

I have had a pair for a bit now and they do stretch a bit so I would go for the medium in your case.

I test rode 2 aeris’s on Saturday. The Guys at Bird were fantastic and the bike was brilliant too. I am def going to get one.

From what I gather there are a few shops or workshops scattered around the country that work with Bird so if you have any issues and you are near one you can drop your bike in there. There is one near me so that make the choice even easier.

I am enjoying Mr Robot at the moment, lost the will to watch SOA and want to watch viking and Black sails.

    Thats good to know!

142x12mm and 15mm front, Shimano freehub. I am not looking for a set, these are options on the bird website for their builds so just seeing if it is worth upgrading over the stock E1900 wheelset specced with the build.

I am looking at Hope Tech Enduro Pro 4s and DT swiss E1700 at the moment. Leaning towards Hope as I have always used them and like the company. Bit heavier than some other options but heavy means sturdy right??

I got an 7IDP control suit recently. I have not managed to use it yet but its nice and light with chect back and shoulder protection, but its still quite slim line. Nowhere near as bulky as my old 661 pressure suit evo.

I looked at the Troy Lee and Blue Grass stuff but decided on the 7IDP in the end. Currently on sale at CRC too.

Unfortunately the Carbon option is not within my price range!!

Afet a bit more research I think is a worthwhile upgrade so will look at either the E1700 or Hopes. I am not too concerned about the weight, I just want trouble free!

I bought some Joules ones (thinking they would be good) and the leaked straight away. Joules were great at sorting me out though even though they came from amazon. Replaced some hunter ones on sale. SO far so good. My feet are nice and dry, but I have only had them 1 month though so time will tell. My GF has had hers for 2 years with daily dog walks and hers are still going strong. Hopefully mine will too!

I went in October 2 years ago and loved it.We stayed for 4 days and hired a car and drove the golden circle route, hung out in Reykjavik and were generally tourists! I know people slate it but I recommend he blue lagoon. Went straight after the flight in and relaxed in the hot water while it was 1deg outside with bright blue sky. That was awesome.

I recommend the lobster pot (or something) on the dock. It had a great a range of fish kebabs, soup and free coffee! Also there is a happy hour app you can download to get all the various happy hours throughout the city, otherwise drinking is not cheap!

I want to go back and explore a bit more as the people and the place was fantastic!

I loved mine too. Sold it and got a Defy. Not sure I made the right choice but its done now. To be honest the wheels didn’t feel super heavy, but then again I have no real idea. It was light compared to my mountain bike but a bit heavier than the CAAD8 it replaced…..

I realize none of this is any help.

In the spirit of stw I may be selling a trek remedy frame fork and wheels but could do you a full build for about 650-700. Email is in profile if you want to discuss.

So I should be able to retire on the sale of my frame and forks then? that is great news!

Hope wheels do seem to hold a bit of value. I am keeping them and putting them on my DH bike. I do agree that things are changing a lot, however I cannot see it slowing down much in the near future. Plus I really fancy a change!

    Its a 2013 Trek Remedy 7 frame 17.5 with Rockshox Revs 150mm.

    nothing too exciting really.

    Thats not a bad idea…….

If I can get around the 500 mark for frame fork and wheels then I would be happy. The bike I want isn’t exactly super pricey but anything towards it is a bonus!

I suppose if I do manage to sell stuff like cranks, stem and bars etc then it will all add up!

The drive train has seen better days so that would be kept!

Good to hear some positive selling stories!

I agree with it being a buyers market.

I am only keeping the good bits for other bikes as I know they are worth more to me than the price I’d get for them.

I suppose I have to offer it up for sale and see what happens. I think I will split it though, probably easier and more of a market.

I am under no illusions that I get no money for it!
