THat doesn’t seem to be it. Checked the air pressure too and that was fine!

Once the place is up and running what are the opening hours? Is it 7 days a week or are there down days?

Nice one, thanks for the replies. My pal has the newer one and the fitting does look a lot sturdier. Hopefully it won’t happen again….!

The uplift is a around £25 per day but there is a push up only charge of about £5 per day I think. I read this a while ago so it may be a bit different now. I think that when the xc trails are built they will be free to ride. I don’t know for sure though. Check the Antur Stiniog facebook page all current info is on there.

I thought it was pretty average really, the hype it was going to be amazing, sadly it wasn’t. I didn’t hate it but wouldn’t bother with it again.

However, Tucker and Dale is great!

Thanks for the replies, it makes interesting reading.

She is a good photographer and its more than a hobby, its just that she has never really intended to or wanted to go down the wedding photographer route. Its more of a case of friends know her and that she is good with a camera and want a cheaper option that the
    £1k + “proper” wedding photographer.

I know the price tag on these things seems expensive but after helping her out on her last wedding I realise there is so much more work involved than just taking a few pics!

Its not actually for me! My GF has been roped into shooting her (not very close) friends wedding. Its not the first time she has done weddings but she is not a pro photograoher either. Couple only want to pay her £400 which if it was for 1 day would be ok but for 2 6-8 hour days + endless hours of processing time after the event is a bit weak.

Im just looking for insight into what people have paid in the past really so we can work out something reasonable.

I did change all the bearings and I am pretty certain the axel is the right way round. It could be that I have an incorrecty seated bearing or a misaligned one. To be honest I have given up on the stupid thing and will take it into the shop for prefoessional help!

Thanks for the replies and help.

I have just been looking at it again and have managed to get the freehub in to the right position but the driveside axel is still too short! Its going to have to go to the shop!

I think the spacers are in the right way round……?

I stayed in The Hotel Renardiere in Morzine last year with them and they were brilliant. Couldn’t fault them on anything really. I would use them again without thinking twice.

Are you in the neighbourhood then Mark? I heard you were spotted in Bangor! London Garage Cwm y Glo is where I have been using recently as its on the way to work! Get in touch and we can organise a meet up.

I have decided to get tyres for ATS and MOT done at the local garage. Spreading the wealth is best I think!

Unfortunately there is no one round here with one. I figure a long seatpostand the 14″ will be the way to go. Plus the TT on the 14″ is a touch longer that I thought at 22.8″ while the 16″ is 23.7″ which is a bit too long.

    Now to decide what colour!

Just did the same thing on my heckler. My Pikes were the non uturn versions so cannot comment on that but I don’t regret the swap at all! The Revs feel brilliant, no noticable flex and super smooth over everything.

It was a fantastic event. Some of those climbs were pretty relentless but the descents were brilliant. It is s great event and maybe I will do it again (once my legs stop hurting).

I do 8.5 miles each way 3 times a week (on a good week). Some days I love it, some days I hate it! Takes about 35mins in and about 50mins home due to it mostly being uphill. Fortunately its mostly lanes so traffic isn’t too bad but there are a few main road sections which can be busy. I’m pretty sure its not as bad as any town or city though, rogue sheep are the biggest problem!

I agree with flippinheckler. Its could be so much more and it certainly doesn’t have a shortage of visitors. Shame.

I kind of wish I hadn’t asked now, who would have thought people would be so passionate about their brake brand!

I have the Dyfi coming up so will postpone any decisions until after that. Thanks for all the replies.

My pal raves about his set and they feel (bite wise) a lot nicer than my V2’s. I am not unhappy with my V2’s but I am not as happy as them as I am with the ones on my DH bike either hence the idea to change. Weight isn’t really a massive consideration, it would be nice to be a bit lighter but going to toilet pre ride would solve that.

I just wanted to know if performance wise the XT are roughly on par with the V2’s.

I watched about 2 hours of it this morning ands was seriously disappointed with my tiny boiled egg I ate for my lunch. I would hate to think of the fall out from some of those spicy challenges!!

I have used them in the past with a HT but I think it would be difficult to fit a heckler on due to the shock position. Not certain though but I had trouble putting my 5 spot on it and looking at my heckler it would be very difficult.

I have a 591 and my 224 fits on it fine even with the fat tubing. Easy to use too as the complete bike fits on it!

I rode in the alps on my heckler a few years ago and it was ok, rode it last year on my bullit and was better, hopefully going out this year with a 224 and think that will be the right bike. However we only tend to do the DH runs hence the DH bike! Plus I ride my DH in the UK too so its not like its going to waste.

I like the idea of getting a (cheap 2nd hand) bigger bike to go out there as it means you don’t have to mess with your UK trail bike as stuff can easily get broken in and enroute to the alps! More suspension and bigger brakes made the 2nd trip far more enjoyable for me as my hands and arms took a bit less of a beating. As a result I could rider faster for longer compared to when I was on my trail bike.

Who knows if you get a DH bike you may well use it a fair bit in the UK too!

I was thinking about getting one of these too. There is an Asus one in comet for the same money with a keypad, same spec (i think) too.

Would either of them be ok for messing about editting helmet cam footage (HD and non HD)? I have no clue about what magic makes computers work.

How do you catch any fluid spilling from the lever master cylinder when you use bleed using the bottom up method?

I had a 14″ or 15″ (small anyway) inch sub zero and it was really nice. I think what is confusing me is Santa Cruz’s are generally short in the TT (17″ heckler is 22.5) where as Oranges are a bit longer (14″ 5 22.5 TT). I had a 23″ TT 5 spot for a while and I think I found it a bit long it was awhile ago and it go nicked before I could really get to love it! It is just the Small 5 frame looks flippin tiny but it does have the TT length I think I prefer……Anyways I’m no giant so its not as if a 14″ frame wouldn’t fit!

Thanks for the info! I’m 5″6′ and the 16″ felt good for the few secs I sat on it but so did the 14″. A proper test ride will help me out!

St Trinians (either if the new ones). I thought they were going to be awful but were infact brilliant.
