This is the best thread I have seen on STW. I would post up pics of my 2 Molly and Claude but technology is letting me down.

I cannot be bothered at the moment either. Hopefully the CYB Antifreeze on the weekend will snap me out of it. If not then I will have to get a DH bike to rekindle my love of MTBing. I am hoping its just cos its February and the sun has yet to show its face round here.

I find If I try and plan stuff I never want to do them. If its off the cuff then I am so much better at getting out! I think what I need to do is put the fun back into riding and not ride as I am “training” for this event or that race etc. Training means I am more likely to be found on the sofa eating Jaffa cakes than riding!

Or I could start a carrot patch.

Its the CYB Antifreeze race this weekend so I am not too sure what that means for some on the trails being open.

    MBR every time.

I 2nd the Urge All mountain one. Got one at Christmas time and its great. I also 2nd the Bell Stoker if you can somehow get hold of one. tried my pals Large one on and it fitted my large head perfectly. Plus its a tremendous green colour.

Ragley Blue pig! Not a tapered head tude but a 1.5″ so fits all forks! Wonderful bike.

I loved my Blue Pig X. It was a wonderful bike. Sold to get a 29er and regretted it. Sold the 29er and got an Evil sovereign and do not regret it at all.

The Blue pig is just ahead of it though but I haven’t had the Evil that long and still trying to get it feeling just right.

My GF is about 5″9 (no laughing at the shortass) and while its mostly for me I was hoping that she could fit in too.
I think I will have to find a suitable van and turn up with bike and GF in tow and see how it all fits. I have seen a few pics on the internet of bikes fitted into Berlingos, but these were the multispace ones.

While I am sure bike would fit in length ways into the van version a few pics of this would help me out a lot. I don’t want or need a transit, just a small van to cart my endless crap about in and help me move house, carry DIY related junk and occasionally when I’m lucky, sleep in it when I am off at a race or whatever.

So in the example of say a Citroen Dispatch, go for the regular 1.9 engine and not the 2.0 Hdi one?

Standing up in it is not really an issue. Something I can get changed in the back of is what I meant! Kind of settled on the Scudo / Expert / Dispatch size van….

Are the Citroen Dispatch and Peugeot Expert pretty much the same size as the Transit connect? I think I could easily get away with something Connect size as a full bike can easily fit into one of them right?

I continued my search and a few lower mileage examples popped up for decent money.

The Hiace is a good call! I could not remember Toyota’s van offering. I have seen them around and do like the look of them. They don’t look as big as the Transits and vivaros. I will investigate!

    Yes it does.

That like a good deal! I think mine was the first version of the frame so 2004-2005 would be about right. I remember it being lots of fun.

I had one a fair few years ago and it was great. It was my only bike and rode everything on it. It was very tough and a bit harsh but I don’t seem to remember caring to much about that!

Could you find out where he sought professional advice? Talk to them to see whats what?

I would be loathed to pay his postage. Its his choice he is sending them back.

Sunday sold so the search contines! Been looking at demos and glorys. Some.ok deals to be had.

I would want the small sunday frame sorry. I won’t look to pay over 300 for a frame in this instance, ideally 250.

hahaha I realise Commencal do have a bit of a reputation for being a bit unreliable!

Commencal Supreme is a good shout! Found on PB for well under budget too. Its also green. Wins all round

I like the glorys but they are very small (on paper). Is that a lapierre DH720? It looks great!

There are a few interesting options on pinkbike but at my budget there is not a wealth of choice. What did you go for in the end?

I am trying to be sensible and not spending 1K on a bike that will not get a massive amount of use…..but its hard as DH bikes look so good!

Its not definite that the sunday has sold just yet so all hope is not lost.

My budget is 750 max. Ideally a proper DH bike (no stinkies or FR bikes)and not an orange 22X as had a 224 previously. Nothing wrong with it I just want something different!
Medium or maybe small. Full build prefereably as 750 on bits may not go that far!
What would you look at (excluding a sunday)?

I have seen the 2010-11 model on ebay for decent money. The good thing is that they seem to come up quite regularly. I am just weighing up options and keep everything as near to 700-750 as possible! I am sure it can be done!

The sunday may have sold! I have seen a few Demo’s around which look promising, I like the look of both the demo 7 + 8. However there are hundreds of big hits for sale ( the newer ones not the old mismatched wheel ones). Would the Bighit be ok with triple clamp 8″ forks on? I know the Bighit isn#t strictly a DH bike but it may be DH enough for me…..maybe. Anyone ever had one?

The thing is is that this bike fulfils several criteria
    1. Its in budget
    2. Its the right size
    3. Its local.
    4. Its a proper dh bike

If I had a bigger budget I reckon a demo 8 or glory would be just the thing. However my budget is set and I’m sticking to it!
The fact that it’s a bike I have always wanted and its decently specced is a.big bonus! I am still keeping my eyes open for a demo, glory, trek session etc but the bargains are few and far between!

Most dh have a history of snapping at some point or other. My 224 was supposed to.fall to pieces just by looking at it. It never did.

The one I am off to see is a later model in the black and green colour. The article on sicklines was really good and its made me keener.

Its only ever going to be wheeled out 5-6 times a year for uplifts but I don’t care!

    rhid

I will go and see it over the weekend but I am very keen if only for the fact I have always wanted one as I would like to be Sam Hill!

Good info on the back end, I did read somewhere about that. Snapping is not something I was aware of but I think that my limited DH skills shouldn’t rouble it too much! Any more pics of your Sundays would be great!

I do love homes under the hammer….

Because I have had 2 days off I may as well take 5 as its all the same according to the absence policy. If I went back in tomorrow and then was off Thursday that would count as 2 absences not 1!

Left foot and no driving but lifts to work can be sorted easily enough.

My gf works at the same place so lifts are easy!

I was meant to be back in today but due to a small crash on Saturday I.have my left ankle in a cast for a week due to a small fracture and tissue damage! Probably wander back in Wednesday all being well!
