North Wales for the win. Coastal, very near the mountains, good links to civilisation. Plus for 350K you could buy a nice house with a few acres of land if you look hard enough!

That would explain a lot! Didn’t pay much attention to the picture as they are usually generic pics of bike frames!

I watched a set of Rockshox Dual air 26″ old style 454 pikes go for over £180 on eBay recently! That’s a very decent price. Maybe the buyer thought they were the newer version? Who knows, I would have been very happy with that as a seller.

Stuff like wheels seem to sell for ok money too. I think complete bikes are whats suffering the most. My friend is trying to sell his full build and having no luck.

On a slightly related but maybe unrelated note it looks like my Garmin Edge Touring is causing my computer to switch off its wifi connection when I plug it in to log routes. Is this likely or is there another reason my computer is doing this. Google alluded to Garmin and wifi problems but I could not really find much.

If anyone else has seen this how do they get round it?

I don’t know if will help bit my reverb was slow after a home service and the reason was the remote bolt was too tight and it was impacting the buttons ability to be pressed. I think I had lost a small washer on the bolt which was there to stop over tightening.

I dropped my laptop charger on my toe this morning. It hurt so much I had to have a lie down.

There are showers at NYA but whether or not the are open is another thing. I know this as I once used a shower there but that was a while ago!
Ring the visitors centre? Its a great trail centre and well worth a visit! Plus you can do Climachx on the way to NYA from Coed y Brenin too!

Thanks for all the replies. I have found a 09 plate with 46000 on the clock for just under budget. I will investigate further. there seems to be no shortage of them which is good!

I have a Mio 100 GPs you can have for £25 if you want it. I got a Garmin Edge touring recently so its redundant.

It really has only been used about 15 times.

Email in profile if you fancy it.

hahaha if I was worried about looks I would not be driving a fiat panda!

I had heard about the 1.6 HDi being a bit troublesome for some people, but not really sure what the issues are with it.

I just want something simple and (hopefully) trouble free…..

    Thanks for that,

I was thinking late Mark 2 with lower miles than the Mark 3 which seems to be a fair bit longer. Do both these have the same engine? Is it only the Mark 1 which comes with the 2l diesel?

I tried that and there is no thread left! I appear to have made a mess of it!

matt I ‘ll drop you an email at the end of the week as currently in Portugal on hols!

I would rather fix them completely as they are on my gfs bike. So either helicoil or new lowers! I think I did strip the threads by the short bolt method….that combined with clumsiness!

Currently about 50 on ebay. It’s a definite option as a helicoil kit is about 30. And I could mess it up.

Sorry I should clarify, in this case helicoil is difficult as it’s the bottom mount and not very deep…or that’s what I got from it! Anyone in North wales who can recommend an engineering place that could sort me out?

Sorry its my fault that its going to be a wet windy day as only last week I commented that “I have always been lucky with the weather on Dyfi race day…..”

Try Pinkbike for a week or 2 first before ebay. Its free and you could get lucky. I have been luckier on PB with full builds that ebay or STW classifieds.

The youths still do like Demos….

Also if I had any spare money and any space in my house I would love to buy your Demo. I regret selling my DH bike in many ways even though I only used it 4 times a year it was by far and away my fav bike!

I reckon 1000-1200 on a good day. I agree with what Timpol says, pinkbike is stuffed with loads of nice DH bikes at the minute. Not many that rubbishy cheap ones, just nice ones around that 1200-1500 mark. It took me a long while to sell my DH bike and had to do a lot of price dropping. At the time I wasn’t happy, but now I think I did pretty well!

Great info. Thanks very much. It’s for.my gfs bike, she managed to bend the cranks on her bike 25km into a 165km sportif today!! Not sure how that happened but it did!

I’m keen to hear your feedback on the Aeris, especially the small sized frame. I’m in North Wales so getting to Swinnley is a right pain!

THe Kettle – What were you and your pal riding before you decided on the Aeris?

I put some 105 calipers on the defy after its 1st ride. Not 100% sure if I have ridden it after that though!

They are heavy no doubt! I Want to try and avoid Spending lots on the hack to make it more like the Defy. The Cash from either sale will be spent on mtb stuff as that’s my favourite for of cycling!

Defy is a defy 1 2013 size medium. All details are in an add on the classifieds.

No not on the Hack I don’t. It’s just being used as a road bike. The original idea when I got it was to try cx etc on it but that never materialised!

I’m going to get out on the defy this weekend and hopefully stuff will be clearer then.

There is nothing at all stopping me riding it, I just haven’t really ridden it! I commute on my ht, ride with my gf on my hack and the defy kind of gets left! I don’t doubt at all it is the perfect bike for longer races hence the quandary!!

I have the Conwy grand fondo in 2 weeks so not sure what bike to take. Hack as it’s familiar or defy as that’s what it’s for. I suppose that that race will be the decider!

yeah that’s my stumbling blocK as all the evidence kind of points to selling the hack and keeping tbe defy!

    5″6 on a 16.5 Slackline.

Not had it long so trying to decide between a 50+60mm stem. Araprt from that, its a good fit.

I am kind of in the same boat. I would like a new full suss frame (currently on 26″) and was considering a 27.5 full build, but still have loads of life left in the components on my 26er.

I have been googling 26-27.5 compatible frames but have not really found much. Does anyone know of a reliable list of manufacturer approved frames that can run both wheel sizes? Or it this just a myth….?

Me neither but I am sure there is something out there which will entertain me for 20 mins instead of doing proper work.

Thanks for the replies. I’m 5″6 but like long frames but am a bit worried that the 17″ BP may be a bit long. However it’s cheap and I did really like the 16″ BP I had so I will give it a go. I ran the 16″ BP with a 60mm stem so I figure a 50mm stem on the 17″ will work out about the same!

If I.hate it I will try the stanton. My.issue with the sovereign is it feels too steep and tall. I think I prefer longer lower frames.

Yeah that was the way I was going but I still haven’t really gelled with the Sov yet. It replaced a Blue Pig and part of me is thinking sell it and get another blue pig frame as I loved that frame!

I fortunately have til September to make my mind up! However I do want to get some riding done on the final choice of bike before the event!

I was thinking a 26″ Scandal with 100-120 forks or similar. Nothing too expensive or exotic. Or maybe just use my trek.
