I bought a tiny GPS tracker to put on mine. One of them was doing a lot of travelling per day. Something like 6-7km. Unfortunately she got run over in August as she crossed a road on her way home.

its interesting to see where they go but the area they cover is so vast that it would be pretty tough to find them. It was a Gpaws tracker I had. Its not live tracking but you download after you retrieve it from the cat.

They were kept in for about a week and then they escaped. To be fair Its all fields and stuff up with me so I am not too concerned about them getting lost. They are all in most of the time eating me out of house and home! There are 3 of them so I am certain they have made a decent job of marking out a territory and they know where they are!

The walk doesn’t really go that far from my house its a nice circular route taking in the finest aspects of a small welsh semi rural village (ie a lot of sheep and slate).

He tends to follow me all the way home and I let him in! I figure he is just sussing out the area which is all a bit new to him. Plus its pretty open and wild up at my place unlike where we were before.

I am wondering if the others will start joining me on the walks too, one of them could do with the exercise!

I had a blue pig X for a few years and found it very comfy. I don’t really know if it was tyres, saddle or frame or even all of them. I cannot recommend one enough!

It did seem much quieter than previous years. The weather made it more enjoyable but for whatever reason I find the cyb enduro really tough! Much tougher than the dyfi, the ard rock and in many ways the keilder 101 (but only done that once). It was well run and the enthusiasm of the organisers makes it difficult not to enjoy a bit. I’m saying this now sat down drinking coffee. I wasn’t saying this yesterday going up yet another climb!!

I’m riding it. I really don’t like it very much and every year I say I will skip next years event. Then I go and enter it about 3 weeks to the event.

Still its local and hopefully sunny so whatever.

I got an amazon fire stick a few weeks ago. Its great. It comes with its own remote and everything. Really easy to use. I watch netflix, amazon prime, BBc iplayer and redbull TV on it no probs. It was about £30 if I remember rightly.

Can I have a go on your bike then Chris? It would be a good test to see if I like a really reaaaly long bike!!

Yeah mine was a 15mm front one but I assume they would be the same as the rear?
The pin snapped and I lost the lever. Like I said I am pretty sure I messed it up but it was very easy to mess up which concerns me. I will stick with my old one for now ever though stupidly thin metal around the lever is all but broken off. The 20mm Maxle on my 2008 pikes is still in pretty much prefect condidition. I want a 15mm version of that!

I broke my Maxle ultimate! I (over?)tightened it and the lever snapped off. Probably my fault but just be careful with it. No other axle, Maxel or otherwise, has ever broken on me!

    Good point, what build?

I quite fancy a Blue SLX build (its the 2275 one, cannot remember the proper name) Nothing too fancy….

I am looking at one too. However I am the other end of the scale. Looking at a small or medium. Even the small is much longer in reach and TT than my medium remedy so I think I should go small. I def need to try each size but I live in north Wales so its not going to be easy.

Psycorp – did you test before you bought?

I was looking at this recently too. I worked out it was pretty cheap to go for a zee shifter, a 105 mech, tiagra 10sp cassette and chain. I think all these were from CRC too.

its probably more expensive in the short term but 105 mechs are about £22-25 so could be better in the long run if you do more mech damage.

I would be loathed to put any top price mech on my dh bike as they so get a beating.

Yeah, I think I will just live with it!

the CRC upper is 35mm, I was assuming that the stanchions weer 35mm too. Good job I checked!!

It seems that I was wrong about the 888 stanchion dia. they are 38mm and most other manufactures are either 35 or 40mm. Not to worry.

Clug mounts do an MTB mount and are currently in the lead

I saw the Clug mounts and they look nice. I don’t think they would hold an MTB tyre though? I realised that i need to store 1 road bike and one MTB not 2 x road bikes! Otherwise I could have gone for a sweet drop bar mount.

Superficial – Yeah I have something similar in my porch for my HT and it works great. Its just as I was moving stuff into the living room I wanted something a bit prettier or colourful or not quite as industrial! I think that I may have to go down the plain black or metal hook option though.

I love those drop handlebar mounts but due to space the bike need to hang vertically.

Handle bars facing up or down? Its going to be for road bikes so not too worried.

I have super flat feet. Wore the orthotics made for me for about 6 years (not the same set before anyone says anything!) but then stopped and I prefer my feet without. I just wear skate shoes or trainers for day to day wear and 5-10s on my bike (but never have used insoles in them or any riding shoe). I have some 5-10 walking boots which are comfy too. I run in Nike Lunaglides with some special insole I had made, and that is the only time I ever use insoles now. If my feet are sore for whatever reason I will wear my running shoes, as they are nice and comfy, until they feel better. This however is pretty rare

When using the orthotics it worked best when you could lace a shoe up relatively snug-ly to stop stuff moving about a bit.

I tried the green superfeet insoles recently and I found them to be not very comfy for me.

Given time you will learn what works best for you, and more importantly what doesnt!

If I have never ridden the Peak District does that mean I can only score a max of 10/20 in all catagories?

Even though there were times I wanted to throw my bike into a ditch and walk home I’m still glad I did it. Fantastic riding and scenery, can cannot imagine how fast the top riders were riding to do sub 5 hours. If I do it again I’m taking a full suss to save my ass from agony it suffered.

I’ll be on a Stanton Slackline. Finishing is my goal. I have no idea what to expect as I have never been to that part of the world. I am assuming there will be hills…

I was kind of in a similar position recently looking to buy a DH bike (much less budget though). Looked at a few new ones but in the end went for a 2nd hand one off pinkbike. I figured paying half of what a new one costs means that I could go out to the alps on it next year. There are really some mega bargains out there!

Since you are in Mid wales you have the bonus of both the North Wales and south Wales Dh tracks being relatively close! Antur Stiniog, Llangollen and Nant G would be great for full on DH bikes. That is irrelevant anyways. You want a DH bike so you should 100% get a DH bike. I have used mine so little but I don’t care because I think its wonderful!

I agree with Coldplay, the Beatles and the Chillies.

Its more confusing as I have friends who love each of them so I have given them all a good listen. I flat out do not get it.

I did the course a few weeks ago. Wasn’t expecting much but I found it informative and came away with a lot.

One thing they did say is that cameras don’t discriminate. If you are doing over the speed limit you are speeding. If you get pulled over for speeding by a police officer he or she can use discretion. The cameras wont do that.

I learned a lot about stuff I had forgotten, ate a fair few biscuits and was entertained by a few of the other attendees who really could not see what they had done wrong. Plus its only 4 hours so you could do it as a half day from work.

If you want to be central to both you could look at Machynlleth. Plus you have the added option of the Climachx then.

Cannot recommend anywhere sorry, there should be a few options though.

If everyone has a chip its a race, everyone will have individual times. Hence no need for a mass start. The start can be spread out over 30 mins or whatever to avoid a bottle neck.

The only thing I didn’t like was the bottleneck the the beginning of the All Mountain race. It was a bit of a pain having to wait for it to all clear and having practice riders joining in the scrum for position. I could have been better if they asked the practice riders to avoid that bit of the course to ease the congestion at the beginning of the race. In last years All Mountain event I think it was a staggered start? I cannot really remember but it worked better than the 13.30 mass start anyways.
