When I think of the prospect of listening to Pink Floyd – I find the possibility of death quite attractive.

Email me your address and I’ll send you a copy.

loddrik – I share your concerns, I too have two young kids, a 7 year old and 3 year. I lost my Dad when I was 5 and I’ve got a totally irrational fear that history will repeat itself, when my first son past 5 it was such a relief. I guess it’s an middle age thing, let’s all try to relax and enjoy life.

I was walking to work the other day listening to Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of The Moon, I was walking across the Millennium Bridge towards St Pauls on a beautiful sunny spring morning when Great Gig in the Sky came on, the man answers the question about dying:

“And I am not frightened of dying, any time will do, I
Don’t mind. Why should I be frightened of dying?
There’s no reason for it, you’ve gotta go sometime.”
“I never said I was frightened of dying.”

    I was totally overwhelmed.

I’m not afraid of dying, I’m afraid for my family. Very moving piece of music.

R1’s here, very good but the lever bolts keep coming loose, not funning when you hurtling down a hill at full speed.

Just out of interest where to you link the two? Drop into Friston Forest whilst you’re in Eastbourne.

    Your looking a bit ridiculous

A bit childish maybe but you Sir are looking the same.

We clearly disagree on Nike so let’s leave it at that, I’ve suggested three alternative brands which I regard as good quality running shoes, which was the original advice request, now let us jog on please.

The point is that you should not be giving bad advice based on a sample of 1!

My advice is hardly bad, I’m just sharing the experience I’ve had with Nike and Adidas.

    Whoops!!!

He’s OK running, it’s just walking he finds painful.

Can I just point out that professional runners such as Paula Radcliffe have several pairs on the go and would probably only wear them for several races.

As flaperon says, the cocodamol I was given by the hospital after my collarbone op were very addictive, infact it was only when my wife pointed it out did I realise I’d become almost dependent and a bit moody, whether I was in pain or not. I’d recommend taking them with prune juice or senokot.

Maybe this pair of losers need your advice!!

Lord Coe might, he can barely walk now.

It sounds like you have little experience

It sounds like you’ve got misguided brand loyalty.

I’d also recommend the Nirvana sunday ride, I’ve only done it once, the standard of riding was high, I went with quite a large group 10+ very good riders, all friendly, competitive but in a fun way. We went mainly over Redlands and Leith Hill, some very steep terrain, hard to believe for little old Surrey. I believe there’s filming over at the Redlands so it might be out of bounds.

emsz – you might get another month out of them then

Seriously though, if you’re running that sort of distance weekly you probably need to change them often anyway, especially if you road run.

Same dilemma last summer, we went for the gary fisher precaliber 20, he’s right behind me on the singletrack, sometimes in front. Very nice bike for the price.
    precaliber

Just to add, it’s quite long so enough room to grow into.

    You forgot IMHO in there

No I didn’t, in my experience maybe, but the guys after advice for good running shoes, I’ve been through plenty and I tell you what, for the money adidas and nike are very poor, if you run on a regular basis you’ll find they last 6 months if that, let’s face it they’re more interested in fashion and gimmicky product link ups with the likes of Apple than basic running needs, like stability and durability.

Do you still think Rubbish? Maybe it’s you that forget IMHO.

You mean that children, the elderly, the poor and the terminally ill should also pay?

Of course not, and neither should women during pregnancy and people who have to take daily medication. In an ideal world all prescriptions would be free, as originally intended when the NHS was started back in 1948.

No that’s Norwegian trekking I think, Fartlek is a workout at different speeds and durations – google it.

It’s a National Health Service the ‘Nation’ should pay equally.

Avoid Nike and Adidas – sh1te, try Brookes, Ascis or NB, proper running shoes. More important to warm down than up. And give fartlek training a go, will improve your stamina no end, enter some runs, start with 10k and work up.

Ignore mastiles, get an expert to watch you run, too much comfort and not enough support can lead to spine and knee injury.

ernie_lynch – oh dear, it’s not a tax, it’s a charge, if you’re ill and need medicine then you pay for it, a logical transaction if you’re able to afford it, and a lot of people in Wales and Scotland can afford it. Obviously a additional contribution has already been made in other taxes or NI, but the prescription charge itself is not a tax. It’s important to be clear on that.

Poll Tax has become the Council Tax and on the whole seems fair, although the valuation bands need an update.

I’m off to have a beer with some fairies.

People who need free prescriptions already get them, this is a huge drain on public resources, reckless politics.
