    calorie dense and also salty

indeed, only raw natural nuts for me, I’ve got to have a pint of lager with salted peanuts, so def off limits.

    diet soft drinks

not idave diet related but I wouldn’t go near aspartame or other art sweetners, messes with your mind.

What was the verdict on these:

    Soya Milk
    Sweetcorn as vegatable
    Seeds inc peanuts/monkey nuts
    Maltodextrin

    should these be avoided?

Avoiding diary has worked wonders for reducing nasal mucus – sorry if too much detail.

    Thanks

Awesome – I wanted to visit the old underground tramway in Kingsway, there was an art exhibition there a year or two ago.

Zipvit energy chews – Pomegranate + Watermelon – not bad, slight after taste. Find jelly babies and haribos give me heartburn and sharp come down after sugar rush. Just plain old H2O for me most of the time though.

Had my Lupine Tesla 5 for two years and no problems, build quality is very good, not the cheapest on the market but when I was buying the Tesla and Wilma were scoring very highly in the mtb mag reviews. Of course there’s a lot more choice now, especially UK brands. I got a good deal at Swinnertons.

As TurnerGuy – I displaced mine quite badly so needed a plate and hook too, on and off it took 6 months, it’s still healing and the plate is out now, don’t rush it.

poisonspider – I think you’re very clever, turning the wheel even with power steering was agony for me. Thank god I have an auto.

I had the same, and a displaced clavicle with plate, work was very flexible, I was allowed to work from home, and I dialled in to audio meetings, as a good gesture I took a weeks holiday to convalesce when I had the plate removed, coincided with kids school holiday. I think you have good grounds for shirking at home, commuting on a crowded train standing with fractures is not a good idea.

Actually sometimes it’s worth going back in time, I’ve just re-listened to Led Zep’s first few albums, they take some beating. And Jesus and Mary Chain’s Almost Gold album.

    +1

The English Riviera by Metronomy, The Look is a great tune, cool and quirky.

Tame Impala – Innerspeaker might float you’re boat too – psychedelic hypno-groove melodic rock music

Fair play to the guy, I think he’s highlighting a gap in the market, a full face with the same ventilation as a standard lid. Unless there is one I don’t know about?

He doesn’t look rad, he looks like he’s chasing the someone who’s stolen his moped.

Top Gear is the BBC’s most profitable TV programme

Not sure that’s true, I seem to remember reading it was one of the wildlife docs – Planet Earth, Blue Planet?. They get licensed by BBC Worldwide to pretty much every country that broadcasts or has a VOD service. BBC sell the TG format to a number of countries, Australia etc and probably make a decent wedge from the merchandise eg: Stig bubble bath FFS! TG also cost’s a lot to produce and of course it needs to pay for Jeremy’s Car and prog rock collection.

Happy to be proved wrong though.

Has TG run it’s course? Of course it has, but so as Corrie, Eastenders, Ant & Dec, X Factor, Strictly the list is endless, but there’s so much choice luckily I don’t watch any of them. Thank god for BBC Four.

Only kidding – multi tool’s are always welcome

What about a subscription – any mags worth it?

Yep – assume he already has Singletrack. I like MTB UK, it can be a bit laddy, but my 7 year old boy reads it too.

I understand the attraction, but I’m the opposite, I find any kind of bike maintenance tedious and beyond my abilities, I don’t have or want all the tools. Happy to spend the money at my LBS and just enjoy the riding, when I’m not injured.

I hope it works out for you.

my glass is always half empty

I respect your honesty, I guess we’re all like that sometimes. I’ve been off the bike for best parts of 6 months due to injury, god have I missed riding, it’s made me appreciate good health and having the freedom that riding can bring. You don’t know what you have until it’s gone, I was just trying to point that out.

And I’m a southern softy and proud of it.

God your glass appears to be half empty, imagine if you couldn’t ride due to ill health or injury, now stop whinging and just ride.
