Literally just bought Royal Racing Crown gloves from cyclesurgery, very lightweight and comfy, I must of tried on 10+ pairs, I’ve got big hands (easy) and to be honest the Royals where the only ones that came up big enough, only £19.99.

Edit: Tried the Spesh BG Gel, very good but XL too small 🙁

You haven’t put it in the freezer by any chance? I did a few times and I think the expansion and contraction of the plastic as messed up the seals.

Can’t comment on the Genesis but I test rode the similiar looking Enigma Ego Steel and it was amazing, very light and the build was superb, especially the fillet brazed version. Not sure of price difference though.

Probably a bit of a dumb question but…

…how easy is it to swap forks over, I’d like to alternate on a regular basis.

Bear in mind I’ve shyed away from most bike maintenance over the past 30 years due to incompetence – just being honest.

I’m 6ft4 and broad shouldered and to be honest I’m finding my Easton Havens a little uncomfortable, getting a lot of weaving on steep climbs, probably just need to get used to them, they’re a lot lighter than my previous bar, I might need a shorter stem, currently running a 80.

I guess so, not stopping at the top of a steep drop is very convenient, keeping a constant flow is more enjoyable, my local trails are very varied so perfect for adjustable post. I’m getting a bit of play and clamp creak on the reverb, I think I’ve done it up too tight or not used friction paste. My bar setup still doesn’t feel 100% right yet – more tweaking at the w/e.

Yes, I have AXA but get it as a work benefit, not used it for years then loads last year, two shoulder ops on my displaced clavicle, got my fractured scaphoid fixed and then the wife needed some procedures. On the whole it’s been brilliant, top hospitals and surgeons, the excess is £200 a year.

When I fractured my clavicle my local hospital was overstretched with three major car accidents, couldn’t even xray it for over a week, it was practically compound, a quick call to AXA went private and had emergency surgery that night.

spending £200 on a top and crashing in it the next day

Impossible to crash in Rapha, for discerning cyclists only.

Rapha feels like it was invented in marketing brainstorm, a bit like a fake czech beer from a bygone age, it’s so romantically swathed in cycling nostalgia that it almost becomes a parody of itself. Not to be taken too seriously, by all means pay £140 for a hoodie if you wish.

The tandem’s actually proving rather brilliant for getting them (well, her mainly) used to riding on roads

    Brilliant idea

2010 514 here, love it, makes me smile everytime. I’ve read bearings can go but mine have lasted well over 12 months so far. All bikes can crack, I’ve snapped 3 Trek frames.
