Without doubt very close to genius status, I saw his series of video paintings called ‘Thursday Afternoon’ at the Stedelijk when I was an art studio in the 80s, the cityscape sequence is amazing. I found this version but it’s the wrong orientation, see, he was even using innovative ways of using screen ratio and space.

Ambient 4 and Evening Star with Robert Fripp are personal faves.

I was told the city is Bristol?

If you have kids then Reigate Park is great, as is Tilgate Park up the road near Crawley. Endless off road riding around, bridlepaths, NDW and Surrey Hills and I don’t just mean Dorking area, around Woldingham is good too.

I’m nearby in Purley/Riddlesdown area, Redhill seems OK, but to be honest I only drive through it to get to friends in Horley, not as stuffy as Reigate up the road, Merstham is quite nice. Trains are usually great but Southern have been shocking lately, a mixture of bad luck, poor planning and london bridge rebuild. I ride into London a lot of the time, only way to get a seat in the morning

Check which breed of poodle too, I can’t remember which Mitch is but he’s quite big and very spaniel like, we’ve met some very small and very poodle.

Not sure though about ‘anxious’ dogs that don’t like being left alone. Ours has been left since young and is perfectly happy. We kept her crated for about 9 months, then left the crate open but restricted to the kitchen, now she just has a basket in the kitchen (but still restricted) while we’re out.

Funny you mention that, we’ve just started leaving Mitch out of the crate and he seems happier, he’s only left for 30 mins max whilst my wife does school pick up.

Lovely natured dogs, we got ours from a breeder in Kent so not helpful I’m afraid. Ours is over a year old now, a rather large black Cockerpoo called Mitch, he’s great with the kids, they’re quite anxious dogs and don’t like being left alone. Bags of energy so great on the trails with the bike. Will post some pics later.

    What Painey said.

I’ll be riding Friston this weekend, I usually add a SDW loop around Lullington Heath and Windover Hill too. Nice pubs in Jevington and Litlington if you’re after refreshments.

@ hora – you should try Brewdog Libertine Black Ale, makes Guinness taste like the black watery pi55 it is, even those new Guinness craft band wagon export stouts.

My fave brewers at the mo are Burning Sky, One Mile End and Pressure Drop.

SLX aren’t really in the same league as R1s. XT maybe. I’m still running 2010 R1s, love the power and can modulate braking just fine, I had issue with lever bolt coming loose when I first got them, otherwise faultless.

Friston is great, park at seven sisters car park or butchers hole, you could spend a day easy around the forest, Lullington heath and South downs.
